I wonder if we're looking at ethan Ross at raith rovers as well, looks like he's doing really well too.
He left Aberdeen in the summer as he was out of contract.
Took a couple of months deciding (probably waiting on a bigger club) before signing for Raith in October I think.
Sure he was training with Sunderland but clearly never materialised.
Raith must have had to pay a bit of compo for him or come to some agreement
Ideally you would want to be sitting with 4 established centre halves but whether Hibs can afford to have that is another matter.
I was thinking they would go for 3 plus McGinn in reserve for emergencies so Hanlon, McCart plus 1 other good quality CH.
In essense we only have 2 centre halves this season plus Daz who should have retired in the summer and a very young guy on loan in Wood.
Chris Mueller plays tonight in the last 16 of the MLS play-offs, a defeat would mean an end to his time with Orlando. If that occurs, hopefully he can come over and join us so he’s ready to hit the ground running once he is registered to play on January 1st.
With the Drey Wright thing I think it would really benefit both him and the club if we parted company. He is low on confidence and as soon as he makes a mistake he gets pelters, it's a vicious circle that doesn't look like being broken. The ony way he will succeed at Hibs now is if he comes on against Hearts with 5 mins to go and hits a "Wordly" volley in the top corner to win us the match. That might just buy him enough good will and boost his confidence enough to find out if there is really a player in there. otherwise he would be better of heading to a new club and starting afresh I think.
Well reminded.
Hopefully he avoids injury and Orlando lose.
It's away against Nashville who they played against 3 weeks ago.
They drew 1-1 that night with Orlando having a goal disallowed in the last minute which they are still very angry about.
Nashville were unbeaten at home all season (17 games).
Nashville strength is defending. Will they be able to keep a motivated Nani out?
Fingers crossed for Mueller to Easter Road soon.

Be careful with generalisations.
[QUOTE=J-C;6755789]Covid is bad in mainland Europe due to many not getting vaccinated, the uptake abroad is poor compared to Britain
Except the vaccinated are just as likely to come down with the virus as the unvaccinated. And just as likely to transmit the lurgy.
Is there any chance of keeping the Covid misinformation (such as stubru's garbage above) off the forum?

Another thing you can do is use the internet to check reputable sources before you talk nonsense.

Do yourself a favour and research your statement on a credible resource as it is wrong.

Careless talk costs lives.
and you managed to mess up the quotes on your post. Sit down and stop touching things.
I think it is fair to say that there is not 100% parity between unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals when it comes to risk of dying, infection and spreading, but it would also be foolish to dismiss the fact that vaccinated people can and still do die and infect. The stats are in the links below.

I personally think there is too much black and white polarisation fuelled into this debate - it isn't simply about vaccinated versus unvaccinated, it should also included those with pre-infection natural antigens (which some studies demonstrate to be better and longer lasting than vaccination). Also testing for infection rather than testing that you've had been vaccinated should be the precursor for social restrictions.
Can we take this misinformation off the transfer thread please?
[QUOTE=flash;6756110]Only going by what was said on the breakfast news this morning, reporter from Belgium was saying that many in the country have not been getting the vaccine and this is also the case in a good few other countries, the uptake in the vaccine compared to the UK is a lot less, hence why the cases are rising fairly rapidly in Europe.
[QUOTE=J-C;6756254]The UK, with an average of 40k new infections a day for 10 weeks now continues to have one of the highest infection rates in the world. We have roughly double the total number of infections in Germany, Spain, Italy and France, our most comparable neighbours. 3 of these 4 countries have a higher vaccination rate than the UK. There is undoubtedly a 'surge' in certain, smaller European countries but we've been experiencing that 'surge' for over 2 months. I think we're getting ready to play the blame game when it goes t#ts up again here. We've seen that scenario before!
Get this Covid stuff off this thread and keep it off please, this type of thread usually goes wildly off tangent enough without introducing a completely unrelated topic.
With the greatest respect to all who have posted on the topic if I want any further information on Covid, Hibs Net would not be in my top 100 choices of where to get it, and yes I get the irony of that statement after plaguing the Broadband threat on the PM board for info.
Something I really enjoy is reading about players we may or may not be signing, even if some of the contributions prove hopelessly wrong, I really don't want to have to read page after page of unrelated stuff in an attempt to do so.
Thanks
Stephen O'DONNELL still on radar.
A bit Roy of the Rovers that, but I do get your point. it is likely we will need to use him in this run of games coming at some point. i have my fingers crossed for him if he does get another chance and hope he can turn it around for himself and us i'm sure he as got more to offer.
Any chance we would be looking at free agents with the 9 games in December coming up? No insider info just wondering
St Johnstone have signed Viv Solomon-Otabor who was formerly of Wigan on a short term deal till January.
Going by Twitter Wigan fans really rate him
Dan Crowley should be on our list if we don’t get McGrath.
Only 24, tons of ability and very creative as a number 10/attacking
Mid.
Out of contact in January, currently at Cheltenham after signing a 3 month deal - far too good for them.
Nathan Wood confirmed as away back to Boro early. Some signing that.
Nathan Wood returns to Middlesbrough

I think Jeando Fuchs at Dundee Utd he is out of contract at the end of the season would also be a good alternative to McGrath. But i would be surprised if we could either.
Just a curiosity if he is on a three moth contact is he available to talk to clubs at anytime
Based on his previous that is a decent and interesting call.
Has played overseas in the past so a move to Scotland wouldn't bother him.
However, he is prone to falling out with managers with a couple of previous loan spells ending early.
He is a talented No.10 in the hole behind the strikers so probably an Allan replacement and importantly Ross would almost have to build the team around him to accommodate his lack of defensive inclination. He is an exciting player with great close skills and if Hibs could get him firing he would be worth a fortune.
That's a good shout. I've seen him play a couple of times and he was decent. I didn't realise he was at Cheltenham now - as you say, he's got the quality to be playing at a higher level than that. I suppose that is why he only signed a 3 month deal. Obviously no one knows how he would fair up in Scotland but IMO he is worth a punt on a free transfer!
We only have to make one signing : Tony Mowbray.
"Daniel Patrick Crowley is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL League One club Cheltenham Town. Crowley is a creative midfielder with quick feet, strong dribbling skills and a speciality for set pieces."
Must be signing for Hearts [emoji57]

The first priority in January should be a solid goalkeeper. That would bring a bit of confidence for the defence.
Honestly that is the least of my worries in our current squad.
Centre half
Left wing
Attacking mid
Striker
All need to be strengthened before we consider a new goalie IMO.
I actually think Macey has had a good season, he has the odd fluffed clearance like Wednesday but he’s a very good shot stopped IMO and is getting better at coming for crosses.
John McGlynn won't play Dylan Tait in the Cup this weekend, at Hibs' request, so that he's not cup-tied if/when he comes to us.
Hibs keeping their options open here. It wouldn't surprise me if, depending on our other business in January, he stays at Rovers for the rest of the season.
See the lad Charles at Accrington will be sold if those interested meet their valuation of the player!
Wonder if we are still interested?

That really would surprise me if we allowed him to go back on loan.
We were supposedly desperate to get him in last window but Raith refused as they never had enough time to replace him. Only agreement that could be made was sign for us and loan back.
He’s also been training with us twice a week, unless he has been poor which I very much doubt I think he’ll be straight in
Jack Ross on Chris Mueller:
"Chris Mueller will arrive in the UK on Wednesday, which will give him a month with us before he's ready to play. It gives him time to settle at the club and in the city. He has always earmarked the derby as his first game to be involved in."
He's one of the worst midfielders in the league in terms of losing possession, both from poor control and poor passes. I dug up the stats a few weeks back when posters suggested him and if I remember right only Gogic and Jordan Tilson had worse stats in terms of how often they give the ball away.
we could definitely do with the option of an aggressive box to box ball winner who can cover a lot of ground, think a player like this would compliment either Newell or JDH well in certain games - but we really need it to be someone who is better with the ball at their feet than Fuchs, someone in the mould of Alan Campbell or Ali McCann.
I know it’s been joking said thousands of times, but HTC when you see it here must be some attraction for players https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM8tNykox/
Can’t be many teams in England below mid championship level plus all of Scotland outside the old firm who can compete with that plus our stadium.
I'd keep eyes on Ross Callachan, Jambo I know but stood out at Hamilton last year and has been performing well at county. Real battler, good range of passing, scores the odd goal with a point to prove. No idea of contract situ.
Maybe would have thought similar once upon a time had he not had deeply unlikeable Hearts connections.
Moreover, screams of the Martin Scott-type of signing - looks attractive at the time but wouldn't have been long before we realise we'd want/need a lot better.
Got to say I was very impressed with McCart again today.
Defended well, composed on the ball and really intelligent when it comes to winning fouls in a similar manner to Porteous.
Hope we get him in January.
I wouldn’t say I studied him, I rarely pay much attention to opposition players but I notice him because of our interest.
I couldn’t tell you any specifics about what he did wrong, I just think he looks a big clumsy awkward defender that’s got a mistake in him.
Way off Porteous and Hanlon level IMO.
I see Jason Kerr has only appeared in 4 out of 21 matches for Wigan.
I’d revisit that one and see if we can get him to be honest.
I’d like us to get Jamie Hamilton. Still 19. Young improving CB and a good investment for the future.
At least one CB
Winger
Striker
Depending on Magennis situation, someone to fill that void
Would love to see us strengthen for 2nd half of season but also for next too.
Go get McCart and McGrath now
I’d be happy with that. The little I’ve seen of him I liked. He’s young but has top flight experience. However I get the impression we are going to spend money on a CB, which I’m in two minds about as I really rate our current two. Unless we are going to three at the back of course. I don’t think we will go for McCart though.
