Been having a look at Drmic on YouTube
Looks like he was a star of the Bundesliga who lost his way a bit
He gets onto balls over the top and puts them in with great finishes. Good on one on ones.
First season in the Bundesliga he scored 17 goals in 33 games for relegated Nuremberg and as a result moved on to Bayer Leverkusen. Had another 6 seasons in the Bundesliga before going to Norwich and then to Rijeka on loan.
Hopefully he doesn't catch fire against Hibs. If he's good Ron should call Norwich and get him to Easter Road on loan.

The highlights for anyone who’s interested.
Defending looked pretty poor from both sides from the highlights at least. Rijeka look dangerous on the break, but I'd like to think we are too with the pace we have upfront.
It will be a tough tie and I would make them favourites, but some people on here and social media are making them out to be Real Madrid. I think we have a good chance against them.
I can’t believe anyone is getting worked up about playing a side no one had heard of from Croatia. Their national team is excellent but their league is not the strongest. If they were such a great team why are they in the qualifiers for the Europa Conference?
You spin it the other way and say Drmic couldn't cut it at Norwich and he isn't playing anywhere near Bundesliga football these days. While Nisbet is four years younger, recently played at the Euros, his career is on an upwards trajectory and he is attracting interest from bigger clubs than Norwich or Rijeka.
Not sure if this is tongue in cheek, but can't see anyone getting too worked up, just some pointing out that Rijeka would be clear favourites against us based on comparative participation and results in Europe in recent years. We'd have a chance but would need an awful lot to fall our way to progress IMO.
Good day to everyone here.
I am a Croat and Rijeka supporter.
I have noticed that You do not know much about Croatian football league and Rijeka as a club. So, I am registered here not to provoke but to discuss since there is a good possibility that we will play against each other next week and week after.
After these matches, I will be gone from this forum.
So, we can start a discussion if You are willing to do so.
Welcome to the forum. A few questions:
Who are the star players in your team?
How do Rijeka fans view playing against Hibs? Is it seen as an easy draw?
You've faced Aberdeen in Europe twice in recent years, with mixed results. Was being knocked out by Aberdeen seen as a shock?
Thanks for welcoming me.
Ok, after the draw we were not very happy with Hibs, not because we do not believe that we can't beat You, but we do not like to play against Your type of football which is more physical then we usually play. So, as per our opinion better choice would be Aarhus, Puskas and even Luzern. Nevermind, we are here now so we can not change it.
Rijeka has experience with two recent clashes with Aberdeen so we are confident that we can go through.
Rijeka as a club - ok, first short info. It is not HMK Rijeka as in thread but HNK Rijeka which means Croatian football club (Hrvatski Nogometni Klub).
Rijeka is only Croatian club in private hands, we have an owner with 70% stocks. But, since situation in Croatia with financing is very different comparing to Scotland or England (no big sponsors, no money from TV rights etc), majority of Croatian clubs are forced to survive by selling players. It means that we do not spent much money for incoming transfers and wages, policy is buy cheap, sell expensive.
Last season was very hard from financial aspect and despite finishing as third in Croatian championship and playing group stage of EL, neither management neither fans were satisfied with the season. So, some changes are applied, we have a new sport manager and new coach (actually came late last season, but now applying some new ideas in style of play). Team has been changed, style of play is changed. To be honest, we are not sure about strength of current squad comparing with last year squad but for now we like what we see.
Bottom line is that we can not be 100% sure that we will beat You, but we surely do not see You as favourites.
Star player is definitely Drmic. Technically best players midfielder Pavicic and winger Muric.
I already answered second one. We are not afraid, but we would prefer some softer team.
Aberdeen - first clash was a shock, we lost first leg at home 0-3, but we missed some very good chances in first 15 minutes, and Aberdeen scored 3 goals from 3 kicks. Definitely bad luck. Second leg in Scotland 2-2, but we already wrote this off.
Second clash with Aberdeen, two wins 2-0, Aberdeen did not have a slightest chance for winning in both legs.
My question: Hibs/Aberdeen comparison?
I think the Hibs/Aberdeen comparison is an interesting one and you might find some people disagreeing.
The Aberdeen team you faced found a way of being quite effective. They knew how to win games ugly and were effective from things like set pieces and scoring scrappy goals. First and foremost they were difficult to beat. I think Hibs last season were trying to be a wee bit like that. Defensively very sound, hard to play against and there were a number of complaints from some fans (not all) that we were boring to watch. Where we are better than Aberdeen though is that we have some good attacking players who can cause problems on the counter attack. I think we were third top scorers in the league behind Rangers and Celtic but it didn’t feel to me anyway we played attacking football.
In comparison Aberdeen went 10 games without scoring last season.
Just my opinion, others may disagree 😂
Yes, we also expect this.
Comparing with last season we are definitely playing faster and more direct. We brought faster attacking players in the squad by coach wishes.
Last year we mostly played 3-5-2, now we prefer something like 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. However, last game at home we played 3-5-2 because we missed some players, we can still play this system if needed.
Some bad memories:

Zdravo Rijeka fan. We are *****. We only finished third in the league because all the other teams were even more *****. We could also quite easily lose 4-0 on Thursday to the third best team in Andorra and be knocked out. But if we manage to get through to play Rijeka, you will win very easily. It will be like playing a pub team who have drunk too many beers and eaten too many pies. Nothing to worry about.
And some good ones:

If You noticed, two clashes with Aberdeen are not on the same stadium.
We are now playing on new stadium, Rujevica, capacity is 8.000 people and this is type of stadium with people very near the pitch. At the moment, we do not have restrictions with number of people allowed on stadium so You can expect very hot atmosphere.
Aberdeen were , for a Scottish team anyway, exceptionally well organised, good defensively, physically strong and knew how to win a game (time wasting or "game management" as their manager used to say). I'd agree with the above poster that they were better than us (as in when you played them, not now) defensively and especially as an overall unit.
Hibs - We have some very good attacking players. Kevin Nisbet is probably the best Scottish born striker at the moment (the other two strikers in the Euro squad were born in England and Australia). Martin Boyle is probably our best player and is one of the best forward players in the Scottish League. We have some good, but by no means outstanding, midfielders and defenders.
I actually think you'll find our style of play easier to play against than the Aberdeen team of a few years ago as we are more of a technical team (though I suspect you'll be better than us).
I'd make Rijeka favourites for the tie, probably about 70/30 75/25 in your favour.
Call me suspicious, but this poster with the handle Rijeka fan might actually be the Rijeka coach who’s found a quick way for .net members to do his research for him.Hmmm.
There is no rijeka.net.
You have two active forums of Rijeka supporters. I do not know whether this is helpful because both are in Croatian.

If Mr. Ross wants to apply, I am a moderator on second one so tell him to contact me.:greengrin
Can we start a Rijeka fan out poll? He hasn't made a big post yet
Fast players will give us problems especially through the centre of midfield and into the heart of our defense where pace is in short supply.
However we do have a manager who prepares very well for games and tends to set up the team so that they maintain shape and we can then use our attacking strength to score the necessary goals except when we play a Scottish team called St Johnstone when everything always goes wrong.
Unlike others I rate Hibs very slightly for this tie over the two legs due to our ability to create and score though as always with Hibs in early European ties wonder if this game is just to early as its 10 weeks since Hibs played a game of this expected intensity.
I understand that You still have some restrictions for going to football matches? I red somewhere that Scotland will completely cancel all Covid restrictions on August 9th.
Our championship started 10 days ago and we are back in stands with no number restrictions. Only restriction is that one must have valid Covid certificate with QR code on it. Last game we attended was against Real Sociedad in EL group stage in October 2020.
Hi Rijeka fan, welcome to Hibs.net!
Now to the important bit……….. can you get tickets for the tie in Croatia ?
Eufa have said “no away fans” but I guess if a local was willing to take a guest or two into the stadium that may be ok😎
I believe not because You need to present ID when buying a ticket. And then presenting an ID and ticket when entering premises.
Also, August 12th is still far away regarding this Covid **** rules. At present, we have about 1 million tourists here. Also, we are currently on Scotland's green list. But it can change rapidly.
Here are the rules for Covid for passengers entering Croatia:
https://www.koronavirus.hr/recommend...ate-border/736
You are on this list with special requirements so You need negative test entering Croatia.
Tickets are usually on web sale here:
https://ulaznice.hr/web/?lang=en
Tickets are personalized so You need to make an account first, buying as a guest is not allowed. Also a hint: stands are named according to sides of the world (S - north, Z - west, I - east, southern stand is for away supporters but it is closed due to UEFA regulations). S is home ultras stand so let us say it is not advisable.:greengrin Anyhow, Z stand is Your choice.
For entering the stadium You need to have Covid certificate (digital on Your phone or printed) with valid QR code on it. This Covid certificate is EU unified, I do not know whether You have one. However, You can make it here locally with a negative test day before a game.
I saw that You are wondering how to reach Rijeka. Cheap flights exists to Venice and Trieste in Italy and Ljubljana in Slovenia. From there, You have max 2 hours with the car (maybe more due to touristic season and many people on border crossing). Croatia is within EU but not in Schengen so You need to show Your ID on border crossings.
Are uefa allowing away fans for this next round?
Cultural appropriation and inconsistency [emoji16]. We Brits demand its real name is.... Think Eiffel Tower versus Arc de Triumph. The former is Anglicised and the latter is not. We translated the easy one and left the one we couldn't be archied. Branderburg Gate (Tor) but still call the Parliament Reichstag

It was just a typo😂
Any ideas what they mean with their reference to aliens?

Hi all,
i'm another Rijeka fan, and would be happy to add a humble contribution to the thread if i'm allowed by circumstances and by my obligations.
May the better team win.
FF
Two years ago Hajduk Split were eliminated by Gzira (0:2 - 1:3), and headlines in local newspapers in Split a day or two before rematch were screaming something like
" more likely you'll see Martians , than Hajduk gets defeated by Gzira ".
So, Gzira boys were refering to that particular game in the eve of rematch with Rijeka.
But, unlike Hajduk 2 ys ago, we left them no room for surprise.
As you can see from their preformance last night, a strong Martian minority exists in Dalmatia...:agree:
I see their assistant coach has now signed up to get some info.
We will beat you.
I like the look of the lad Prince.
Whole yesterday's game against Gzira can still be seen on offical club web:
https://nk-rijeka.hr/rijeka-tv/
What to say, more-less routine win although Gzira United are not complete badgers.
We played again with 3 central defenders, and we had a chance to see first time Abass, attacker on loan from Mainz.
Best player was again midfielder Pavicic.
Thanks for posting info and updates Rijeka fan.
I see it's around 30c in Rijeka at the moment. I take it that's about normal for this time of year there, definitely a big advantage for you. Hoping for a midnight kick off.... See it's 7pm, so I guess that's 8pm Rijeka. Hopefully cooled down a bit.
More updates.:greengrin
Next league game is on Sunday, 21:00 h our time, against Dinamo Zagreb away. First big test of our new team.

https://www.transfermarkt.com/mikhai...spieler/231387
According to rumours, there will be more incoming and possible outcoming transfers next week. Transfer window here is open untill August 31st.
While we have you and we are still on speaking terms 😂……
Do you know anything about this guy?
https://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/article/new-strategic-partnership-to-assist-player-recruitment-processes
Ivan Kepcija to save you opening the link. Hibs working with him to recruit new players. Seems to have a good CV.
Ivan Kepčija was a sport director of Hajduk Split, our biggest rival, some two years ago.
He did not keep a job for long, but it does not mean that he is a failure, in Split they are changing staff every 6 months or so.
However, in Hajduk people are not satisfied with his incoming transfers. They are trying to get rit of his players at the moment.
I also know that before Split he worked for Legia Warszawa.
Nothing more.
