So the Walking Dead was back last night.
*Spoiler Alert*
Carl appears to be dead in another snooze fest of an episode. I still don't believe he is actually dead.🤔
On a side note, should TWD even be in a "best tv" forum? Literally no idea why I continue to watch it.
I gave up on it after the first episode of this series, refused to put my time into something I no longer enjoy just for the sake of it and the time I've already put in, the walking dead worst enemy is that there is no end in sight, it will keep going on and on
Just watched the entire Band of Brothers series for the umpteenth time. Great series
Caught up with Wolf Hall recently. It was pretty good.
I’m a really big fan of Hilary Mantel’s writing. She’s one of the few English writers these days who is not focused entirely on the effete middle classes. That stuff doesn’t make it to the screen, though. Only stuff about the aristrocracy!!
Really enjoying Seven Seconds on Netflix.
Finished S3 of Gomorrah, just superb looks like there will be a 4th.
Marcella with Anna Friel is decent , Also Save me with Morgan fae the Walking dead is very good
Watched all of save me this week while working from home. Pretty decent.
Try The Blacklist - it's great
We watched a docu-film called “What the Health” on Netflix last night. It is about how all the health organisations (doctors, hospitals, cancer charities, heart charities, etc.) are lying to us about the causes of health issues because they are allegedly in financial cahoots with industry. It becomes apparent fairly quickly that the industries they are talking about here are the meat and dairy industries.
I said to my wife in the first 5 minutes of watching it that I bet this is vegan propaganda and I was right. I googled it and it looks like the makers of the film are in cahoots with vegan organisations (Joaquin Phoenix is a producer on it and he is involved with various vegan and animal rights organisations). Towards the end it descends into being nothing more than an advert for an “exclusively plant based diet”
Some of the claims they make include that sugar consumption has nothing to with diabetes, that eating protein (and especially meat) is the cause of both types of diabetes, that you can eat as many carbs as you want as it has very little effect on your health and that smoking is much better for you than eating an egg.
The presenter is a bit of a moron as well. At the start he claims that up until now he’s lived what he’s thought a healthy life of exercise and diet as he’s a bit of a hyperchondriac owing to his family’s many health problems. However, in researching this film he’s come realise he’s been wrong about many things. One such thing is that he only realised by doing this film that bacon and hotdogs are processed foods - WTF?
I’d avoid this film if at all possible. Unless you want to scream at the telly. Or unless you are a vegan.
Edit: I forgot to mention that they actually wheel out Steve-O from Jackass as an expert on all this.
Billions S3 on the 29th can’t wait.
Love S3 episode 1, :faf:
Anyone else watching Jamestown? Continues to be a good watch.
Just finished the sinner, was a pretty decent watch...
Cannae believe this hasn't been mentioned but, CH4s secret lives of 4/5/6 year olds, reduces me to tears everytime! Imagine being innocent again.
Anyone watched, or watching, Mosaic on Sky Atlantic?
If so, was it pretentious bollocks or disturbingly brilliant? I need to know.
13 Commandments (Belgian crime show) all eps available on All4.
I’m watching the Expanse at the moment. It’s pretty heavy on the sci-fi, but I like that sort of thing.
Atlanta has made a good start to season 2.
Smilf, which has recently been added to now TV, is pretty good as well.
I know its been around for a few years, but I've just started watching series 1 of Boardwalk Empire.
Steve Buscemi is an actor I like, and it looks pretty decent so far, with lots of episodes to look forward to.
GGTTH
24 Hours in Police Custody - has anyone mentioned that yet? *I might have.
Well worth a watch, some fascinating stuff.
Just watched the 4th series of Black Mirror. As brilliant as the previous 3.
Also just started watching Toast of London which I managed to miss for years. Really enjoying it but I reckon it would be one that splits opinion.
Just started the Auf Weidersein (sp)Pet box set.
Watched the first 2 episodes and it's brilliant.
Wild wild country on Netflix was pretty interesting......
Just finished watching Save me on Now TV.
Pretty disturbing but I can recommend it.
...and yes, that is Scrum acting rather superbly. 😂
The Disappearance was quite good although I would quite happily have punched a few of the main characters on multiple occasions.
The assassination of Gianni Versace.
Few episodes in and it pretty good interesting story.
We say TV but almost everything we watch at home is streamed.
I wonder what percentage of screen time comprises people sitting in front a a TV watching what is being broadcast at that moment.
Crashing. Series about a aspiring comedian who spends his life moving around different people's couches after his marriage breaks down. First series was realy good, about to start the second.
Wee reminder that the crossing starts tonight , I think its on Fox, It's the guys that directed Lost so might be worth watching if that was your thing
The Defiant Ones, story of Dr Dre and Jimmy Lovine. On Netflix just now as a mini series, absolutely outstanding insight into how things worked back then with a tremendous amount of brilliant interviews.
Honestly one of the best things I've seen in telly for yonks!
Deep State starts on FOX on Thurs, trailer looks quite promising. S4 of Gotham starts on E4 10/4.
Viola Davis continues to be outstanding on How to get away with murder, shes a fantastic actress.
Last couple of episodes of Marcella have been a wee bit flat but I’m still hooked. Not sure if they’ve thrown in too many characters.
Finished McMafia this week - enjoyed it.
Started Homeland and that’s started well. I prefer the US/UK based storylines over the Middle East ones.
Thought the pilot episode of the crossing was decent , Think this could be good
Legion is the most original and trippy show on TV just now. Season two just started on Tues. It's nothing like any other Marvel TV shows or movies. In fact I think it's the best product from the Marvel stable. A complete glorious mindf*** of a show. Not everyone's cup of tea but it's straight into my top 5 favourite programmes ever made.
Just in case anyone is put off by the comic book thing.
Imagine putting...
Fight Club
Twin Peaks
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Inception
The Matrix
David Lynch & Stanley Kubrick
and the X-Men movies
...in a blender. The result:
A mindboggingly, amazingly tasty Legion smoothie.

'The Last Man on Earth' has given me a right load of belly laughs all last week :greengrin love the humour
Watched the 1st ep of The City & The City, not got a clue whats meant to be going on!
Really enjoyed the first couple of eps of Kiss Me First on Ch4.
Just watched the season finale of The Walking Dead, why don't they just pack it in? Absolute bollocks ending that could've happened after ep2!
Watched the Defiant ones documentary on Netflix at the weekend, it was very very good. Tells the story of Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine from young guys in the Music game, to selling their Beats company to Apple.
Yeah it was tremendous. I knew absolutely nothing about Iovine but what a life the guy has led! Also made me realise how little I knew about Tupac, shame there isn't a similar quality doc on him.
This was up there with the OJ: Made in America series for me though, brilliant stuff
Next up I plan to watch the Judd Apatow documentary on Garry Shandling, gets great reviews.
I stopped watching after the previous season, haven't missed it in the slightest.
The problem is basically that there is no story to tell. Usually with successful TV shows the creator has a vision, a bit of self respect and is wary of the story repeating itself. The Wire, Sopranos, Lost, Breaking Bad, GoT. They knew what the end of their tale was and the point of it.
The absolute hacks that write The Walking Dead have admitted they never plan to explain what has caused the situation. They've shown time and again that they don't really understand how to tell a story.....see the fiasco of the Glenn stories and some of the awful cliffhangers.
It's nothing but a cash cow for them now.
Could not agree more.
I’ve enjoyed the introduction of Neegan etc. Felt that freshened it up, however I started it with high expectations after a few recommendations on here and elsewhere.
Those that suggest it is as good as game of thrones, and there are even some that say it is better, could not be further from the truth.
It really is down to personal preference as i absolute love TWD ! Best programme on tv by a mile for me
Salamander series 2 on bbc4 after 4 years away. Really good first couple of episodes.Grizzled Flemish cop.
Billions continues to be one of the best things on TV, Lewis/Giamatti are two fantastic actors
Apologies if it's been mentioned earlier but anyone watched The Alienist? On the lookout for something new and heard it's quite good.
Wild, Wild Country on Netflix.
It's a documentary series about Osho and his followers. Gripping stuff.

Deary me.
