This series of peaky blinders is a load of *****
Quite enjoying 'Maid' on Netflix , 5 episodes so far so good
'Pieces of her' was decent too
Peaky Blinders is just so far up it’s own arse this series.
Basically it’s “I’m Tommy Shelby and I’m cleverer than you” blah blah blah.
Totally lost its way.
I’m still to watch Sundays, and I’ve come this far that I feel I have to finish it but Christ it’s dull.
Just read there is going to be a second season of Time with a different cast. Can’t see how it could be as good as the first one but will no doubt still be decent.
Watched Boiling Point on Netflix last night and thought it was superb.
Obviously you know you are getting a masterclass from Stephen Graham but the whole cast is outstanding. I thought the one shot concept might be a bit of a gimmick but it really works in building tension. Sometimes films have scenes that are just a vehicle for the director to show how smart they are, with this if something happens, it happens for a reason.
It's fantastic, and like you say, the one shot thing doesn't feel contrived. I saw it twice in the cinema - the second time with my daughter who worked in restaurants as a student. She thought it was great too, but she had a fairly extreme emotional reaction to it. I've read other people saying the same thing, that it brought out a kind of PTSD response in them. Fair to say it's stressful.:greengrin
Aye, he's very good at everything he does.
Halfway through Penny Dreadful - City of Angels, very good so far. Halfway through the final series of The Last Kingdom, one of the better things I've ever watched.
First 15 minutes of Peaky Blinders tonight has been better than the entire season.
I thought it was very good and Graham is always excellent but that scene with the EHO annoyed me. 25 years in the trade and I never experienced an EHO like that. I found them to always be courteous and eager to help you fix issues that crop up. Small thing but the guys portrayal wound me up :greengrin
Talk about a movie to finish The Last Kingdom story?
Half way through "When Nirvana Came To The Uk". Nice Edinburgh connections.
Had to laugh at Jo Whiley claiming that in 1989 music was all formulaic (SAW) and there was nothing alternative and nothing rebellious. ....
1989?
Nothing rebellious?
Sheltered life or what?

Not really my cup of tea but the Mrs likes it so I watched it anyway.
For that type of thing it was actually OK and can see why many are fans of it.
For some reason she got her way again for the next series to watch and that is See on Apple TV. It’s quite clever in how it portrays how a blind human race might still manage to slaughter each other and again not really my bag but watchable enough.
That last episode of Peaky Blinders was great.
