'Alan Hansen played for Partick this day'. I don't think that's right, as Alan Hansen didn't make his Partick debut until 1973. I'm assuming it was his older brother, John, who was playing that day.

For this game Alex McLeish restored his back three of Smith Fenwick and Sauzee.
Hibs played well with great aplomb Franck Sauzee scored a penalty and uncharacteristically missed a second in the first half
At half time in the Changing Room he was raging with himself. He looked every HIBS player in the eye stating that he should not miss a penalty and if HIBS got a free kick outside the box he should take it because the ball it will be going into the top left hand corner.
Sure enough second half HIBS got a free kick outside the box and every HIBS player knew what was coming as he stepped up and curled a superb free kick beautifully into the top corner
Franck should have had a hat-trick that day

Big Bad John McNamee headed home a valuable second goal to take to the away leg on the stroke of full time when he bulleted home a Peter Cormack cross from close range
This game gave Bob Shankly the unique record of being the only Manager in the country to have managed a team in the European Cup, Cup Winners Cup, Fair Cities Cup and the Friendship Cup
