Yeah, a massive joke. Aiming to sign the best players of other teams in the league. Embarrassing transfer policy, we'll never get good players doing that. Gogic, McGinn etc.

Celtic could be priced out of a move for Aaron Hickey as Bologna want £8m for the former Hearts left-back - more than double what the Scottish Premiership club had earmarked for the 19-year-old who has had one season in Serie A
I don't think we are just focusing on St Mirren players. We have been linked with double cup winner McCart, Hamilton's best player last season in Odoffin. We were keeping tabs on Campbell from Motherwell. We have signed a young talented player from ICT. I'm sure we look at other players at other Scottish clubs but they just don't like to talk about us as much as Jim Goodwin does.
I get your point. I am not saying we are exclusively going for St Mirren players but a large focus has been on their players. I wouldn’t say DH and Durmus are their best players or improve Hibs.
I would like us to cast the net wider than bottom six clubs in our division and I don’t think Campbell was ever a realistic option due to demand down south. McCart may be another one we lose out on.
Well if finishing 3rd is all we aspire to be then we may as well pack up and go home because we achieved that. I want Hibs to win domestic trophies, challenge the old firm and push further on in Europe. With our size of club there are good players out there that can improve us. It feels like we are going down the Cregg and Van Zanten routes of recruitment.
I'm going to get a ST for St Mirren - cut out the middle man.
:duck:
Because it was all over the media that we were submitting a 2nd bid but that was about a week ago and it’s all went pretty quiet since as well as other teams having since been noted as having an interest with more spending power than us
Quite straight forward as to why I made that assumption then another poster advised why that assumption might not be correct which I accepted.
A bit confused as to why that then prompted your initial response but fair enough.
Four out of 17 players signed under JR played for St Mirren.
One of them was one of our best and most consistent performers last season, One is very highly rated but has been recovering from a serious injury and a year out of the game almost, one was signed short-term purely as a back-up and then went out on loan in the next window and the fourth only played for them for around 6 months and hasn't kicked a ball for us yet.
We signed Gogic from a bottom six club and Nisbet from a Championship club. Both of which were key players for us in finishing third last season.
We're also doing this amid the backdrop of Brexit meaning non-UK based players are going to be a lot harder to sign and get work permits for so our focus need to be on players already here and we aren't in a financial position to compete with English teams above League One
If only St Mirren had a decent striker we could sign. Even if Nisbet stays we defo need a third one in as an option off the bench.
So that is almost 25% of signings from one club plus we were apparently looking at Durmus.
I disagree about Paul McGinn being one of our best. Consistent yes but in my honest opinion he is quite average. I like his attitude and determination but he isn’t one of our best players.
Point taken regarding Gogic and Nisbet however both of them were stand out players at their clubs and indeed leagues and were worth signing. The likes of Drey Wright for instance was far from St Johnstone’s stand outs but we signed him. I liken this to Durmus and Doyle Hayes. Happy to be proved wrong by the latter.
All just my opinion.
