Anyway, RIP to Steve. I'm not in touch with today's pop radio - does anyone have anything like the level of reach that Steve Wright and his colleagues did? Genuine question., because I imagine that everyone on here within a certain age bracket will have listened to Steve Wright.

I was aware of his role in the music scene but I met him in his later vocation as a celebrant when he did my father in law’s funeral. Great guy, he took a lot of time speaking to the family, learning about my father in law and he did a wonderful job of conducting the service. Very sad to hear he’s passed.

When he decided to publicise that he had cancer, he also decided to keep private what kind of cancer he had, because he didn't want to be 'judged'. Bit puzzled by that. I never saw him on the tellybox except for a single appearance on Would I Lie To You, when he seemed a completely regular guy. Had he lived a life full of smoking and drinking, or excess of some other sort? :dunno:
