Lovely TD from Green-Ellis: 24-14 Patriots
Superb challenge by BB - he was out.
FG Attempt is good: 27-14 Patriots.
TD Jets: 21-27
That should hopefully about do it:
FG: 30-21 Patriots - 1:02 left on the clock with no timeouts left.
Final: New England Patriots 30-21 New York Jets
A good close game, but a good home win for the Pats, going to 4-1 alongside Buffalo. The way we transferred to the running game and hammered the Jets D in the 4th quarter was very impressive indeed.
We had a few players missing for the game today, so when we start to get a healthy roster in the coming weeks, I think we'll go from strength to strength.
Dallas at Foxborough next week, which again, won't be easy - our upcoming schedule is pretty damned hard all around to be honest!
Are you guy's watching the end of the Broncos game, Jesus.
So the Patriots are now a running team, who knew. Don't know if it's down to their D making us look OK today but I'm starting to feel better. Doubt we will make the play-offs but the rest of the season should be better to watch (The way them Buckeyes are playing I need something) and if anything even though we lost I'm less apprehensive.
:smug:
Sorry to interrupt the perennial east-coast obsession :greengrin but anyone think the 49ers may be 'for real' this season? 4-1, offense on fire behind an obviously on-song QB and last night was a helluva result, blowing out another strong team...
Maybe it will take a winning record to win the NFC west this season:greengrin
Certainly looks like the 49'ers have improved, but the other teams in the NFC West look dross - St Louis and Arizona will both be lucky to win a couple and I can't see Seattle winning many more than 4 or 5 (though I must confess, I didn't give them a prayer vs New York). They might make the playoffs, but I doubt it'll go beyond that, as there are a LOT of really good teams in the NFC - Detroit Lions winning the NFC North or at least getting to the NFC Championship game though a WC spot would be an ace turnaround! Anyway, looking forward to seeing San Fran vs St Louis in December when I'm over there! First live NFL game in the states for a while!

Lads, in the abscence of Peyton Manning who do you personally rate as the best 5 or so quarterbacks in the NFL now? ARod is probably most peoples number 1 but after that? Brady and.......
They were my pick to win the NFC West this year (having said that I picked them the two prior - eventually I was going to be right!) theyve been threatening to do this for a couple of years now. Weak division and really theirs for the taking. Alex Smith was their achilles heel but he seems to be putting it together - I put it all down to Harbaugh - great coach. Thats the Niners jinxed then!
Firstly, nice avatar :greengrin
I presume you mean for the season thus far and not just generally better than - if so, I doubt most people would give Rodgers the credit of being better than Brady YET.
There are actually a lot of good QB's in the league this year.
Aaron Rodgers (GB) - 14 TD's, passed for 1721 yards and thrown only 2 picks this season
Tom Brady (NE) - 14 TD's, passed for 1874 yards but thrown 6 picks this season
Drew Brees (NO) - 12 TD's, passing for 1769 yards with 5 picks so far
Matt Stafford (DET) - 11 TD's, passed for 1217 yards and only thrown 3 picks
Eli Manning (NYG) - 11 TD's, passing for 1486 yards and 5 picks
Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Shcaub and Matt Hasselbeck also deserve a nod for the numbers they're putting up thus far:
Cam Newton (CAR) - 7 TD's, 1610 yards and 6 picks (not bad at all for a rookie QB in the one of the worst teams in the NFC)
Ryan Fitzpatrick (BUF) - 10 TD's, 1233 yards passing and 4 picks
Matt Schaub (HOU) - 9 TD's, 5 INT and 1377 yards on the year
Matt Hasselbeck (TEN) - 9 TD's, passing for 1414 yards and only 4 picks thus far
Phillip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo and Mark Sanchez are all a little underwhelming right now - all good QB's, but not necessarily having great years to date:
Rivers has thrown for a decent yardage (1500+) but has had more turnovers than touchdowns, Romo looks good in games until his increasingly frequent 4th quarter meltdown, with 7 TD's for the year, but only 1200 yards passing, Roethlisberger is 8 TD/6 Int, with 1300+ yards passing and Sanchez has an 8/5 split, with only 1200 yards passing (no real surprise I guess, seeing as the Jets prefer to run the football).
Just finished watching the Green Bay @ Atlanta game, No way did i think we would win that after the first quarter. I thought it was superb the way the D managed to tighten up and they never scored again! Rams next week
It's fairly horrible - I imagine it must be a bit like being a Jets fan to be honest - we've dominated you for years, but when the win finally came last year, how did that feel? That's how good I'll feel when I finally get to see us win a game vs the Buckeyes. We never won when I studied there, and we haven't ever won since!
We always have a chance in Ann Arbor (the last game in the Big House was pretty damned close for quite a while, against what was one of the better Buckeye sides in recent years) and I think there'll be a good belief that this CAN be the year. However, we improve each year and I like the look of the program under Brady Hoke - we'll continue to improve and I dare say Ohio State's recruitment might well suffer as a result of a very poor year and the damage the rules violation will have absolutely done to the school!

As much as I dislike the Jets, being rivals and all, I really hate the Colts and their fans. This is such a beautiful sight from a one-man team. My annoying Colts supporting class mate has suddenly become "neutral" and is "only really in it for the game, teams dont matter". Funny thing is, he cried when they lost the superbowl - not really neutral! :greengrin

Excuse the pun but it'll be just their luck that they end up with the top draft pick and get to pick up Manning's successor.
Who is coming through College this year that looks good?
Harbaugh was a QB not with the Raiders though (I think). He really turned Stanford around from a Pac10 doormat to national championship contenders (if they had beaten Oregon last season they would have played Auburn for the title). He also recruited Andrew Luck.
Looking forward to the NCAA matchup in East Lansing this week - we haven't beaten the Spartans in EL since 2007, so it's time to bring Paul home :greengrin
A few decent matchups this weekend:
Alabama @ Ole Miss, Oklahoma State @ Texas and Ohio State @ Illinois are also quite eye-catching fixtures.
Superb opening drive, followed by an awful defensive outing and poor second offensive drive has the game in East Lansing tied at 7-7, with the wind playing havoc with our offense this quarter!
Not having a great feeling about today, despite a decent start for RB Vincent Smith and Shoelace.
We just can't employ our passing game on account of the conditions in this quarter.
Have to tip my cap to the Spartans defense. They're just better than us.
14-7 MSU - failing to do anything with the fumble recovery was poor. Can't understand why Hoke is sporadically leaving Robinson out in favour of Gardener - it's not working!!!
(Another) shocking call from the officials - that was a clear fumble, but they deemed it a forward, incomplete pass! Bull**** call!
We had 2 officials for their second TD who disagreed it was a TD (one called it, one called it out of bounds) and they didn't even review it!
Ugh - I can whinge about officials all I like, but we weren't good enough to get past a very solid looking Michigan State D.

Sean Payton has taken a sore one, after one of his receivers clattered into him at the sideline, into the outside of his knee.
I'm f***ing despairing at how bad our handling has been! 2 fumbles and an interception for us, and a fumble and interception for Dallas.
So the Giants can beat the Bills but not the mighty Seahawks? Enjoying the Seahawks' bye-week, it means I can watch Redzone in peace without having to stress every time they cut to our match!
Shame the Lions record had to come to an end - they'd played some superb football thus far - shame they didn't show the same fight on the pitch as they did after the final.
ANOTHER fumble in the Patriots - Cowboys game, this time to our benefit.
And then the Cowboys come right back and stop us again! Who'd have thunk this would end up as a defensive battle!
What.A.Return from Jacoby Ford in the Raiders vs Browns game - 101 yards KO return.
Poor, poor, poor...
Looks like the 30 point+ run is doomed to end today.
TD Patriots, Brady to Welker, following a good challenge from BB.

I was knackered last night so only saw about half way into the later games.

Check the uni's, i like the gloves smart as **** :agree:
That's exactly it, didn't meet the minimum requirement set so are back at prep school for this semester. One of them, Jakaar Sampson, confirmed he wants to play come December if possible. The other two look likely to open up their recruitment options for next year. Real shame as it was the third highest ranked recruiting class in the country after Kentucky and Duke.
LSU looking very comfortable against Auburn. The Tigers are yet again looking like the real deal and I'll be amazed if they don't make the BCS game.
I'm a wee bit scunnered this week - bye weeks for both the Wolverines and Patriots.
Looking forward to the Bucs vs Bears game from Wembley tomorrow though.
Never mind all that, why you still got that kite as your avatar? A bets a bet but your taking it a bit far .
Any hows, been on my holidays (again) so haven't been on but nice to see the Buckeyes getting their act back together. That's what happens when you start to get your starters back . Big shout out for Herron. Really struggled with our QB's since Pryor and still not sold on Miller but getting the running game up and running will help. Not at all happy with the whole Posey carry on. Their tacking it a bit far if you ask me. Still he should be back for the game against the *********. Got Wisconsin next week and anyone not tuned into NCAA should have a look, the whole Scarlet theme is amazing :top marks.

I'd also agree CFC - your time has run its course with the Maize and Blue
no redzone on sky tonight?
Strange, there doesn't seem to be - maybe for the later games?
I'm VERY surprised at how the Wembley game is panning out - I felt sure that the Bucs would have won this without much issue today, particularly seeing as the Bears didn't arrive in London until Thursday night!
*sigh* - Chargers toss away an 11 point lead over the Jests, who lead 24-21.
Houston are absolutely obliterating Tennessee!
Bucs get it back to 21-18, having trailed 21-5 at one point!
Should be an interesting finish to the 4th quarter!
Finals:
Houston Texans 41-7 Tennessee Titans

Tim Tebow working his magic for the Broncos...15-15 in OT...what a finish this is.
Packers respond quickly. Rodgers throws to 6 different receivers in the drive to level the game! Unbelievable how many options the Packers have.
What a comeback from the Broncos to win 18-15, from 15-0 down!
Miami are laughably bad this season - ALMOST as bad as the Colts :greengrin
Lots of pundits are going to look really stupid over Tim Tebow. Boomer Esiason is a prime example. Its a peculiar kind of snobbery that says a scrambling quarterback cant be a NFL star. Fran Tarkenton had the same thing; hes a freak, he cant pass, hes not a team player etc etc. People started taking notice when he broke the alltime passing yardage records though. Theres a lot of early parallels between them IMO, although Tebow could probably have been a linebacker in those days hes so big and strong.
BOOM!

I wouldn't think so - he had a cervical neck fusion surgery in September, which usually takes 2-3 months to recover from, so he'll be 2-3 months with no activity whatsoever - he'll require a rehab period and return to fitness, so hopefully, early December is a bridge too far for him.
I guess he'll have an army of medical experts and physios to help him though, so quite possibly, he might be back in time - If they keep up this current streak, the Colts will need to make a decision between bringing him back a bit quicker to stop this rot or, give him until the end of the regular season to fully recover, settle for worst-record and first round draft pick and look forward to having the first round draft player AND Manning ready to go next season!

I cant remember a season with so many emergency room teams. Colts, Dolphins, Rams, Cardinals, Vikings, Seahawks all barely breathing.
Thats 2 defeatd in a row for Detroit then, Ill be interested to ser how they bounce back, I recall the Vikings missing the playoffs in 2003 having started the season 6-0.
Carson Palmers career ad a Raider starts off pretty poor throwing multiple piclks off the bench, they might regret trading high draft picks for him, lets see........once he gets rid of the rust
Oh TSSF no danger that Manning comes back this season imo. They wont make the playoffs so it would be of no benefit to try and rush him back as far as I can gauge.
It has been several days now... and 62-7 is still making me laugh!
I see TO is on the lookout for a new club, having run a full practice in his hometown, inviting clubs to come and watch him.
Shame nobody turned up other than ESPN.
In all seriousness, I'd rather we had taken a shot on TO than Ocho - much more accomplished player with an equally big attitude problem. The Chad gamble isn't one that's worked in my eyes.
Stupid question but just how legit is this and how does it work? Looking at going over to the states and been looking at tickets and still don't get the print it yourself idea. Is that not open to counterfeit goods? and don't fancy going all that way when all I've got is a photo copy type thing . Also because StubHub don't post to the UK do you need to give them these details or did you use family/friends?
A promise is a promise
It's fully legit and an endorsed method of getting tickets from the likes of ESPN, the club websites and even advertised on TV.
In essence, it allows people who can't make the game (or agencies who buy the tickets, such as sporting holiday firms, local companies) to put tickets they can't use/want to sell on the website and you can pick accordingly. I've done will-call plenty of times in the USA for sporting events and usually it will either have a bar-code which is scanned as you go into the venue or they'll ask to see some ID/the card you payed it with - it really is easy, cheaper and very secure.
The not-posting-to-the-UK thing is a bit annoying, but a lot of the options have "download now", which is where you get the e-copy.
It's not like a touting website either, as you can chose any price range and pick seats according to your budget.
Looks like our first game in the Foxborough snow isn't going to be too far away, as winter hits New England early!

I was just having a quick glance back over this thread since it got underway last year and I'm proud with how long and well informed we've kept it going.
There's a good mixture of information, updates and friendly banter and grows by the week (a bit like the Colts' "points against" column). Interestingly enough with that parentheses, if you go back over the first 2 pages, we pretty much all tipped the Colts (one of the "regulars") to be thereabouts at playoffs/superbowl time. What a difference a year makes!
Braw.
WVU leaving the Big East - hopefully that's the end of the purge! Would like to see Memphis and Temple join maintain the depth in basketball but looks like football considerations will get priority, talk of Navy, Air Force, SMU and even Boise joining.
Personally, I think it's time for the non-football schools (and Notre Dame) to break ties with what's left of the Big East and start looking after themselves rather than be held back by a sport they don't participate in.
See the weather at the Penn State game?
it was funny too see snowballs flying everywhere in the highlights :greengrin
