And having talented players for England isn’t new. Some of the squads from maybe 10-25 years ago were really quite ridiculous and should have achieved more than they did.
Where I think England have underachieved now is their squad is stacked and one of the best international squads around. Whilst they had very good squads through the years, so did all the top nations. I look around the other international squads now and don’t quite think they are as good as their squads in the past. Holland, Brazil, Germany and even Spain do not possess the same talent and squads as they did around 15/20 years ago. This has been by far the best opportunity / period for England to win a trophy especially as they have been winning trophies in the youth groups. As others have said I’ve always they felt tactically they have played too safe under Southgate when they possess real talent to really punish teams if the handbrake is taken off

No doubting he struggled a bit against truly top teams. Quite like him and his defence of the players that missed the pens in the Euro finals a few years back was truly magnificent and heart warming. As always with England the press are a hindrance to the national manager than a help. A lot of the English players are genuinely over rated. Employing a German coach is a hugely bold step that is for sure.Quote:
