Houston, we have Touchdown(and game) 32-12 3:42 remaining
they will be lowest seeds if Bills and Ravens both win then they would be going to Kansas, Houston lost 27-19 at Kansas in the regular season
steelers have too much to do i think, 21-0 Ravens at HT
FT 28-14 Ravens
FT Bills 31 Broncos 7
Ravens will go to Bills, Ravens beat bills 35-10 in September, Josh Allen v Lamar Jackson...look forward to that one
Packers so far look outmatched against the Eagles in Philly. Only 7-0 but Jordan Love playing with a bad elbow is getting no protection and running for his life.
After an awful first half Love seemed to spark into life there in the first drive of the third quarter. Still only a field goal though.
Defences by and large on top.
Tight game, quite intriguing. Packers defence has kept them in it and tbf - they’re very much still in it.
 Bills - Lions final SuperBowl please. Not the Chiefs again.
Packers done very well to still be in at after 40 mins losing Doubs then reed just minutes later was a big blow, the FG they got only came after once again not getting a TD from a 1st/2nd & 3rd & Goal, Jacobs was so unlucky getting tackled just a yard from scoring a TD, he is so strong even with a tackler dragging his jersey to try stop him along with a few others.
i didn't fancy the commanders to get a win in Tampa, that's their first play-off game win since 2006
Vikings/Rams tomorrow with the winners going to Philly
AFC
Kansas Chiefs v Houston Texans
Buffalo Bills v Baltimore Ravens
NFC
Detroit Lions v Washington Commanders
Eagles v ???
Currently in Bradenton Fl with family. Trip booked & unfortunately cancelled for the Rams game due to the fires. Gutted hopefully a wee trip to Philly before I’m home if the Rams can make it through tonight. On the tele box for me tonight instead. Devastating pictures coming out of CA.
:agree:
You’ll be happy tonight then! Rams giving something back.
So another one-sided game in the wild card round, theonly one real surprise and some intriguing divisional championship games set up.
NFC
LA Rams at Philadelphia Eagles
Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions
AFC
Houston Texans at Kansas City Chiefs
Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills
The smart money is on the home teams here, but very hard to bet against Lamar and Derrick Henry. Ravens Bills should be another classic.
To make a case for all the away teams...
The Rams D is improving and did a great job on the Vikings and the Eagles haven't exactly been purring recently. Saquon should be the difference maker though.
The Lions D has the capability of conceding some big scores and that game could become a shootout. If that happens the Commanders might have a chance.
The Chiefs haven't exactly set the heather on fire this season and Houston ran them close earlier in the season so it will likely be another close one.
But I agree, they should be home wins. The Ravens Bills game is the only one that seems too tight to call on the face of it, it should be a classic.
I actually think Washington Detroit could be a classic too, a score-fest is a real possibility, youre right. Jayden Daniels is a super cool customer and it doesnt seem to matter they dont have a running game to speak of either, defences cant stop him. Reminds me a bit of RG3 before he got injured.
Yeah definitely, and Terry McLaurin is a brilliant WR, one of the best in the league but always overlooked when people talk about the best receivers. I'm looking forward to the game, selfishly I would like the commanders to win as I think they would be an easier opponent for the eagles if we make it through...
As a long suffering Lions fan conditioned to disappointment and misery I'd be totally shocked and dismayed if the Lions lost to Washington. Defensive injuries or not.
This time Lions, this time, our time.
Houston's kicker Fairbairn is having a mare, that extra point miss was a bloody shocker
13-12 kansas
they're making it so hard for themselves with all those penalties
And that’s just terrible from the Texans. Can’t block and a terrible decision on 4th down
no surprise Stroud the 2nd most sacked for the season
x8 this game
ah well, next :(
bu**er! There's always next year.
Lions decimated defence just couldnt cope. Ended up playing a rookie kid in the second half who had only previously played 1 snap all season.
Next time Lions, next time.
I caught the extended highlights, looks like a great game. The Jayden Daniels fairytale continues.
Mahomes appearing in his 7th STRAIGHT AFC championship game with the Chiefs is truly astonishing. The whole point of the draft dystem and the wage cap is so any given season different teams come to the fore. Chiefs dominance doesn’t seem possible!
Eagles Rams in a couple of hours, Bills Ravens at 11:30, should be great one and i’ll catch it in the morning.
13 mins remaining in the 4thQ 19-15 Philly, this game would have been postponed if the snow was this heavy before ko
6 mins remain 22-15 Philly
Love a snow game like this.
Eagles have had a battle tonight, but will win now, sets up a Washington Philly conference game next weekend. They’ll be hoping Hurts heals up.
or......... maybe not :greengrin
Never in doubt. Jaylen Carter is a monster.
costly penalty lost & then a sack, they blew their chance to win it
The Lions game then the snow game have been superb.
The most heavily anticipated one just coming up now…
Should be good.
oh boy 1:33 remaining and Ravens get the TD to make it 25-27 but the dude dropped the two point extra in the red zone that would have tied it
Bills recover the kick off winning 27-25 with 1:18 on the clock
Chiefs/Bills it is
Poor Mark Andrews. One of the best TEs in the league drops an ‘easy’ 2 point conversion (ij those conditions no catch is easy i suppose) which would have sent it to overtime. He gave away possession on a fumble on the preceding drive too.
Buffalo at Kansas City
Washington at Philadelphia
Looks like Ben Johnson is going to the Bears, which I’m happy about, that’s who I was wanting them to go for.
Next step is him, his coaching staff, the squad and the front office actually improving and doing something positive :greengrin
Joe Montana’s record with the 49ers isn’t too shabby.
His best run is 3 straight NFC championship games. 49ers were going for the superbowl threepeat in 1991 and came up against the unfancied Giants, who beat them in the NFC championship and won the superbowl that year. That was my era :greengrin
Still a long way short of Brady and Mahomes regular playoff dominance. Montana was an unrelenting machine of a QB, the best ever before Brady.
Anyone know when the 2025-26 fixtures get announced?
Planning a week in Chicago and I fancy going to a game.
Wow. Saquon is amazing.
The boys insane.
4th and 5 and blitz by Commanders but what a throw by Hurts to Brown.
Commanders landing a few blows on themselves here.
They’d dragged themselves back into this but have finished the half badly.
Within touching distance and with Daniels it might have been a very interesting second half too.
34-15 Eagles 9 mins remaining in the 3rdQ, that'll be that i think
Philly/Buffalo Superbowl please ta muchly
there's one TD back with 5 mins remaining, two-point extra 34-23, they couldn't, could they :greengrin
Washington have played so well both sides of the ball. Just those first half turnovers.
and another turnover goes the way of Philly
lol that was funny watching the defender dive over the top at PHilly 2nd & Goal
and he's done it again :greengrin
3rd strike and he's out
washington advised score will be given if another flag
TD Eagles 40-23 extra point to come, 41-23
3 fumbles to zero. Thats the difference.
Ithink the Commanders have been marginally the dominant team too.
another flag on commanders for pass interference... 1st & Goal Eagles
another Barkley TD 47-23, extra point good 48-23 8 mins remaining
jeezo that commanders No4 gets flagged yet again
Philly 1st&Goal
TD 55-23
78 points, match that one Bills/Chiefs
great for washington if they could keep their side intact for next season, maybe go one further
always a bummer for the losers
kansas on their way already 7-0 9 mins remaining in 1stQ, hope i'm still interested by HT :(
TD 10-7 bills 10 mins remain 2ndQ
booo TD kansas 14-10, camera concentrates on Taylor
four missed tackles on the chiefs player from the Bills punt and they're up to the 35 yard line already
Bills player coughs up yet another Flag and chiefs are at the 3 yard line
that ball hit the ground, Kansas has referees like Rantic get, even after a review they still get it
TD kansas, Bills defence frustrated Kelce winding them up, philips comes in to give some back and gets a flag
anyway 21-10 to the referee's favourites
23 seconds remaining TD Bills, extra point good 21-17...nope, Chief's player offside at the extra point, 2pt....but Bills screw it up 21-16
HT 21-16 Chiefs, that's the most points Chiefs have scored in any half this season, come on Bills defence..step up to the plate will ya
i don't like the way Bills are playing here on their drives, trying to keep bulldoze it over the line
and they've just came a cropper there for doing it
now 1st down kansas, that is so poor Bills, so poor
TD Chiefs
and Chiefs now show the Bills how to get the extra two points 29-22 Chiefs 10 mins remain
now this is more like it Bills
1st & Goal
2nd & Goal
3rd & Goal
4th & Goal
and TD Bills
29-29 6 mins remaining Chiefs have the ball
surprise surprise Flag on a Bills player, that must infuriate the coaches, i've not saw the stats yet for how much yardage Bills have given up for penalties
FG Chiefs 32-29 3:33 remain
2 min warning Bills 4th & 5...i think Allen is bottling it here, very poor throws with one very nearly intercepted but the dude couldn't grab hold of it
incomplete, but there's a flag on...................bills
Bills are gonna regret this
1:45 and Chiefs have it, HUGE chance blown Bills, huge chance
Chiefs win, chance lost josh allen
17 straight one score game wins for Chiefs
That was an absolutely phenomenal game.
American football seems to be capable of delivering top notch entertainment to match the hype.
I do feel sorry for Josh Allen, who has had a superb season and must be pig sick of losing out narrowly to Mahomes in the biggest matches.
I definitely see what they mean about the Chiefs and refs btw - that game swung on a couple of very strange decisions in their favour.
Boooooooooooooooo
I guess I'll be supporting the Eagles in a couple of weeks then. I really wanted the Bills to be in the final, I was really happy for the Chiefs when they won the first one but I'm just sick of the sight of them now :hilarious
Plus I don't thinkt they have been the best team this year.
Arghhh just watched the highlights. So Kelce can taunt who he wants. Josh Allen clearly crosses the line of scrimmage on 4th down, in doubt advantage to defense??! That literally never happens unless youre KC. Clear interception but Worthy manages to get a finger on it? Chiefs ball goal to go. The refs have been ridiculous all season.
The superbowl nobody wanted. (Except the fans of 2 teams). Eagles for me now.
Chiefs have rode their luck all season.
Will run out in the SB
The Josh Allen one I maybe have some sympathy with the refs because it's impossible to see the ball and say definitively where it is.
I can't watch the Worthy one and see anything other than an interception though.
It's probably fairest to say that both were 50/50 and could have gone either way. As is the way of things though, they both went to the Chiefs. Both incredibly significant moments too.
Watching it first time, i immediately thought ‘first down’, the surge Allen gets i cant see any way you look at that and think he could be short. And even if you disagree, the refs generally favour the offense if theres any doubt and you cant get a view. And the chain gang didnt even come out to check! Bizarre.
But aside from the INT and the first down, theres the non calls. Kelce basically taunting bills players in the end zone? Multiple blocks in the back on perinnes punt return at the end?
There may be no deliberate conspiracy, its just weird these calls ALWAYS seem to go one way, we’ve been talking about it all season. Sometimes coincidences happen i suppose…
2 years ago we watched the same 2 teams play out probably the best final I had ever seen. I'd love to see something similar but I think the Eagles are gonna win it easy.
I'm thinking about heading over to the US either next season or the season after looking to take in a nfl game and a college game, does anyone have any recommendations for teams that are fairly close/in the same city? Obviously looking for a decent city to visit as well. Bonus points if there is a MLB team there as well. Obvious ones to me are philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Miami, Washington.
Not the best teams to see, but Vanderbilt and the Titans play in Nashville which is a great city to visit if you like country music. Vanderbilt play in the SEC so you could get to see some decent teams. The Predators play there as well so you could see an NHL game as well.
I've always fancied a trip to New Orleans, the Saints play there and Baton Rouge is an hour away to go and see LSU Tigers.
I don't know what it is like as a city, but there's loads of nice places to visit south of Tampa. Buccaneers play there and USF Bulls. Tampa Bay Rays in MLB and Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL.
New Orleans is my favourite city in the USA, ive been to over 30 states in my travels and you cant beat NOLA, and obviously LSU makes sense. I was there in July when the humidity was off the charts but you should be ok later in the year. And another vote for Miami. Hurricanes and dolphins!
As McD points out, timing is an issue. If you want to catch NFL plus anything else, looks like September's your best bet :aok:
[And because it's chucking it down outside and I'm avoiding going to the gym... here's some dates :greengrin They're roughly similar each year.]
- The MLB regular season runs from 18 March to September 28. The World Series (expensive!) takes place in October. Schedule's out, I think.
- NFL 2025 regular season starts on September 4th, and ends on January 4th, with playoffs (again, expensive...) from Jan 10th, with Superbowl (mega expensive) on Feb 8th. Schedule comes out in May.
- College Football (NCAA) starts August 23rd, with the playoffs starting week of December 20th. Championship Jan 19th. Army v Navy, a spectacle as much as anything else, is December 13 in Baltimore. 2026 game is in Rutherford, NJ. Accessible on public transport from Manhattan. Expensive (the game).
- NHL Start date for this regular season was October 4th until April. Play-offs start in April, and Stanley Cup on June 23rd at the latest. Schedule comes out mid-late June.
- NBA Start date this year October 22nd - April 18th. PLay offs mid-April - June. Finals June 5th. Schedule Comes out mid-August.
Throwing in Cincinnati and Detroit as options to look at.
I'd have suggested San Fran up until the past few years. 49ers aren't too far away (45 minutes SE to Santa Clara) and you have both UC Berkeley and Stanford nearby. Giants stadium would obviously be there too. In years gone by it would have also meant Oakland's 2 teams too, but alas...
City has also deteriorated significantly since Covid-19 and I'm not sure I'd suggest it as a destination anymore.
No surprise that I'll throw in another shout for Miami. Hard Rock isn't the Orange Bowl and it's a bit soulless imo (probably not helped by both teams being rubbish since around the turn of the millennium). but it has improved in recent years and the options for tailgating and then food and drink inside the stadium are very good.
You have the Everglades a 40-60 minute drive from the city proper. Thefood in Little Havana and Little Haiti is unreal, you have boat tours out to see sharks and just wandering about south beach is a joy if you have any inclination towards art deco architecture at all.
I'd say Nashville as well, great wee place. I stayed in a hotel over looking Vandys stadium, short walk (or drunken scooter ride) into the city center, Titans at one end, Predators in the Middle.
Wouldn't say to spend much time there, 3 or 4 days would be plenty then maybe fly out somewhere else for more sport options like Baseball and basketball.
Thanks for the responses everyone, There's a lot to think about and pointed out teams schedules will mean a lot. Miami is a good one, the Hurricanes and Dolphins play in the same stadium and I think Temple play in the same stadium as the Eagles. Atlanta also entered my mind as Georgia Tech play in the city. I'm just no sure about getting about in America. I'm just no sure what their public transport is like. :hilarious
It's really grim. The homelessness and mental illness issues were already bad before Covid, but I found it really troubling the last time I visited a few years ago to see just how bad things have gotten. There are areas I genuinely wouldn't feel safe walking through and they're city centre locations!
Also DC and Boston and their suburbs. Public transport is, as said above, rubbish or completely absent in much of the US, but these plus NY, as DH1875 says, have proper systems. Also Philadelphia is OK. I've got around in Baltimore on the trains, but I'm not sure it's an ideal place to stay on holiday - though everyone I know who lives there says the aquarium is first class.:greengrin
Very good.
MetLife easily accessible on game days by either bus or train from Manhattan. Shuttle buses from Port authority to the stadium and back.
Same for college ball. Train to New Brunswick and shuttle from train station to Rutgers stadium on game days. Army (West point) supposedly easy enough to get to as well on game day from the city.
Always got the option of Columbia as well if all else fails.
It's 30 minutes on the shuttle from Port Authority the Stadium. Constant stream of them running 3 hours before kick off and I think an hour after the game.
Can get the train but you need to change trains once your over the river. Supposedly straight forward enough.
Train to New Brunswick is what, an hour? Hour and a half? Never been but know they do shuttles to/from the stadium and train station. Might be a nightmare getting out but what stadium isn't. Being on a bus to the station might help.
You still in Jersey? Another little bonus if you are as sure you would help him out and maybe grab a beer.
Yeah you can take the train to Metlife but that does mean changing at Secaucus and that place is pure evil.
NB is about an hour, depends if you get the local or express train however also means getting on NJ Transit! Awful service but actually quite cheap.
Yeah driving in and out of Rutgers is pure pain, the parkway is bad enough without a game and I always get caught in it coming home from games.
i see LA Rams will play a 1st round game in Melbourne in 2026 against an as yet undecided side
International series is only going to get more widespread. 2025 has London x 3 (Jags, Jets and Browns), Madrid (Dolphins), Berlin (Colts) and Dublin (Steelers). Then you have Melbourne confirmed for 2026 and I'd be surprised if they don't revisit Brazil (Dolphins have marketing rights there) again and I'd suspect Madrid will be as much of a fixture as London and Germany are in the years to come. The Bears and Dolphins both have marketing rights in Spain so I'd expect the former to get their turn in 2026.
The Rams have marketing rights in Australia and China so watch this space on the latter in 2027.. A load of teams have rights in Mexico so I'd expect that to be revisited as well.
It's interesting to see this go to Australia.
The NRL were in Vegas last year and are back again in March with both Aussie and English teams taking part this time.
Football really can't be too far behind in taking the game beyond its own borders.
it's quite astonishing the money involved in the NFL nowayears
$7,000,000 for a 30-second advert tonight with some advertisers paying over $8,000,000
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/...5aa945d73ed898
Aaron Rodgers not expected to return to Jets for the season coming :( ESPN: "Breaking: Aaron Rodgers is unlikely to return to the Jets in 2025, sources told @adamschefter-mirror.bluesky.bot." — Bluesky
i noticed quite a few times he looked really hacked off with some of his teammates at times, which in turn drew a lot of criticism of HIM
Can't see anything other than an Eagles win tonight. Chiefs have been lucky all season.
If its anywhere near as good as 2 years ago I'll be pleasantly surprised
First time in years I wont be staying up for the big one tonight. Working tomorrow and don’t really care enough about the outcome. I narrowly prefer the Eagles but there is something about the historic threepeat i kind of want Mahomes to pull it off.
mon my 3rd favourite NFL side :flag:
absolutely pathetic that penalty against the philly player
and some accuse the officials favouring the chiefs, no bloody wonder
even the commentators calling it a ridiculous call
TD Philly...MMmmm think they will replay that one though just short
1st & Goal
