Trump has never looked so isolated as he does just now.
The thing with Biden is that you could tear his political career apart, you can pick over his voting history, his views, his gaffes and whatever else. There are few, if any, member of the US political elite for whom that isn't the case.
But he understands the sanctity of the office he is about to take. He realises the responsibility that comes with it and he respects the fact it is about more than his ego. That's why he can deliver a speech like that whilst Trump has fired up a bunch of gun toting domestic terrorists and instigated the scenes we are now seeing.
