Hopefully a better game at Murrayfield. Hampden hosted the "event" well and enjoyed by day photographing the match. The Edinburgh performance was dreadful though. So many players just going through the motions and although the conditions were tricky with a stiff wind it only really bothered Edinburgh. They actually remind me a wee bit of Hibs with lots of good individuals but a lack of drive and no plan to make best use of their undoubted talent
Really not expecting anything other than a doing at Murrayfield too.
On paper, Edinburgh have a ridiculously talented squad, but something is absolutely rotten at the club with this continuous failure to hit expectations.
Got a ticket for Saturday (due to ST) and I'll go (because I already need a break from family/the kids), but I've zero expectations.
Over 38,000 tickets sold for tomorrow's big clash at Murrayfield between Edinburgh and the Warriors. Impressive indeed.
3-0 Edinburgh at HT, must be enthralling stuff.
Edinburgh with all the ball and territory but look toothless with Thompson at 10. The guy sits so deep, miles behind the gain line.
Turgid stuff.
Crap game but well done Edinburgh. The weedgie hype train slowed down a wee bit, which is nice.
Only saw the last 10 minutes, defence looked really solid
A very very dour game of rugby but all credit to Edinburgh for a great defensive performance which managed to shut down the usual attacking threats that the Warriors possess.
That was a hard game to photograph. To be fair to Edinburgh they concentrated on keeping it simple and cutting out the mistakes. Glasgow could have won easily if they took their penalties but they clearly thought they would break teh Edinburgh line. Considering the mess of teh last game Edinburgh should at least take heart that they were organised and defended well but a very poor game for the 40K crowd to watch and hardly any atmosphere
That was indeed a turgid watch. Better team won IMO - Glasgow didn't really offer much at all, which surprised me. Neither did we - no backs on either side really got into the game at all.
Nice to see Mish back doing Mish things today - thought he looked very comfortable given how long it's been since anyone seen him.
I used to watch Sale when I lived down in Manchester. Now that I'm back, I've been thinking about going to the Scottish teams for a while and whilst Edinburgh seems the natural choice, I can't shake that I still lean towards Sale. I also find them so dull.
Can Edinburgh fans sell them to me? I didn't really follow club rugby til I moved south, but I go to most Scotland (home) games and have done for years.

It feels daft to type out given how well established Edinburgh are at this point but I still think of us as a bit of a club trying to find our identity. The home atmospheres are improving (though the lone-drummer and megaphone combo is a little 'football ultra'-esque and I can't say I'm a fan). I typically do enjoy my matchday experiences at The Hive - it's quite nice being able to nip into the Thistle Suite Clubhouse for a nice, proper pint right before the game and I've made a fair few acquaintances/friends where I stand - the fans are a nice sociable bunch.
The continued lack of success on the field is definitely having an impact though and despite us having some exciting players in our team, it doens't always translate to exciting rugby sadly.
Get along to a game, I'll buy you a pint and we can have a catch-up
good win Glasgow last night v Racing 92 29-19 the gap should have been bigger
win For Edinburgh today in France RC Vannes 25-29 they're bottom of the French top 14 but a wins a win
Following today's result in their Pool, that's the Warriors guaranteed a home game in the last 16 of the Investec Champions cup.
👍
Glasgow been really poor away at Quins. I can see why Townsend doesn’t pick Johnny Mattews despite his try scoring exploits, his lineout throwing is laughably bad.
At the Hive snapping today
Hopefully lots of action to photograph
If the rumours are true that Tuipulotu is out for the tournament or even part of it then I think we can forget any chances of causing an upset for the 6N. Disastrous news if it turns out to be the case.
Routine win for Edinburgh, had everything crossed Darcy was surviving without injury
Glasgow lineouts were indeed dreadful against Quins, i think Glasgow really let themselves down in that tie
anyway
Edinburgh 36 Black Lion(i had to google from where) 15
a right hammering for Leicester Tigers in Toulouse 80-12
a 2nd string Castres looking for a first win in Europe for 12 years and sitting 8th in the Top 14 beat the Host side Saracens 32-24
Any of you guys that follow rugby know if Jim Telfer would likely to be following Hibs? I could gave sworn he was sitting along from me on sat. Obviously an older version but certain it was him none the less.
I'd be surprised if he was, he hated all things football in his days as Headteacher at Hawick High School and Gala Academy.
Any kids who chose to play to football rather than rugby union were frowned upon.
Things have changed in the Borders these days and football is now more accepted in the secondary schools.
Laughed at that one I'm afraid. I mean that JWT is a Hibbie, not that you saw him. But if it was him he'd have been a guest and only if every single rugby match in the Borders was off including Melrose Under 12s. John Rutherford is a Hibbie though, although if it was him you saw I don't think he'd be best pleased at being identified as Creamy.
I see from next season the 6NC will lose a rest weekend so it will be played over 6 weeks rather than 7 (likely 3 games/rest/2 games). From the outset of the 6NC (2000) England pushed for 5 consecutive weekends but this was resisted by Scotland and others who had less strength in depth and needed the rest weekends for recovery of their fewer key players. How things change. Whilst we will/would still miss key players like Tuipoluto or Russell, we've as much strength in depth as anyone else so I don't think dropping to 6 weekends (or maybe even 5 in the long term) is the problem it would have been for us back in the early Noughties.
