We should have signed him with a view to him replacing McGinn

I thought the comments of Gerrard's No.2 were very interesting yesterday, claiming Hibs are the side players would want to play for out-with the Old Firm. Maybe there is a thaw developing and Docherty (and The Rangers) may see that (SJM) comparison appealing and see Hibs as developing him.
Mind the thought of developing a player for The Rangers benefit turns my stomach :agree:.
The deal with Henderson was one where there was the chance of getting him on a permanent. Docherty is a good player on a longer deal and for me there would be no way we would get him even if he was a success - would just mean a decent fee for them.
Admittedly CH I'm slightly clouded in my judgement by my utter dislike of that particular club. I'd only want Docherty on a permanent deal and not a loan, very good player who seems to have done very well down south and will undoubtedly have offers there too.
Boyle and Porteous will feel like new signings along with Allan. If we could get Bogdan on another contract and bring back Efe that would be brilliant. I would be happy with Agyepong on another loan if there was no wage contribution involved as he is very hit or miss with injuries. Really excited for this summer's window, I think we will have a strong chance of winning the League Cup with a good pre season under Hecky.
Can definitely understand where you’re coming from. I think we may be nearing the return of the days of the top 2 being back to Glasgow dominance so the reality for me is that anyone who can help us finish best of the rest would be welcome through the doors at Easter Road.
I think our season will be defined by the loanees we attract.
The financial gap between the OF and the rest, including us has resulted in complete dominance and uncompetitiveness.
A Salary Cap is out the window, so the only hope we have to mount a challenge to them, albeit a short sharp one is by signing not just average, but very good players on loan.
We simply can’t afford to sign on contract, or pay wages for players who could attract interest from English Championship Clubs.
I wish it were not so, but if we are serious about splitting the OF, we need about 6or 7 top drawer loanees.
I'd like to see Shaw, Murray, Mackie and Gullan get decent game time over last two matches, although maybe Heckingbottom has made his mind up about some of the younger lads. Not wise to chuck them all in but maybe Shaw and Murray up top at Killie and give Mackie a start the following week to allow Lewis a well-earned head start on his summer holiday.
Docherty is pretty far down the pecking order at Ibrox - they had McCrorie & Halliday on the bench at the weekend and Dorrans, Rossiter and Holt are still on the books, never mind Jack, Davis, Arfield, Kamara and any new signings.
They'll probably look to punt Holt & Rossiter with maybe another loan deal for Docherty at a better level than League One, which could leave us in with an outside shout, if we can't get Omeonga back.
Can't say I know too much about Cammy Kerr but would be wary of anyone from a defence that got turned over 3-0 by QoTS not so long ago.
Alex Gorrin looks good at Motherwell but English teams are sniffing about. Is Mikel Miller worth considering? Fast, tricky but in and out of a pretty dreadful Accies team - an impact sub instead of Barker / Agyepong perhaps.
Priorities are obviously up front, negotiating a possible return for Omeonga and a left-sided midfielder with an engine and attitude similar to everyone's favourite diminutive Belgium part-time pianist.
Jordan Allan (Cowdenbeath striker) played as a trialist for our u20s today.
We still have a job to do in the next couple of games positionally in the league and with financial benefits of £120k between 5th & 6th. I am sure Heckingbottom knows what he has got with Mackie, Shaw, Fraser Murray ..so no need to give them game time !! I think there is more need for him to try and get an idea of what the likes of Gauld, Agyepong, and maybe even Bigrimana could give us, but I suspect he knows and has his plans well set with what he wants to do and by getting the best results in the next 2 games will mean no real changes to our team selections ..maybe wrong but he's been watching all the players for nearly 3 months now ..!!
Back in for Craig Bryson again.
Shinnie to join Derby on June 1st.
