So an old acquaintance of mine was working as one of Trump's political commissars. I recently heard that he got fired because he was refusing to let Mitch McConnell's wife (the secretary of transportation) send any outgoing mail. He was collecting it and leaving it pile up in some room.
Procedurally Pence would succeed Trump and serve the rest of his term. However, I think the reason why Trump resigns/is removed from office will dictate who actually would replace Trump. If Trump leaves office because of Russia and the election, as opposed to something like obstruction of justice, I could see that tainting Pence's legitimacy as president as well. It may make sense for the GOP to start with a relatively clean slate rather than have the spectre of a tainted election hanging over them. You'd broker a deal with Pence and make someone like Ryan President.Quote:

Ultimately solar and wind are plummeting in price, lith and van-redox are changing the game in storage, tesla and big auto are investing billions in full electric etc etc so while the US might no longer be leading on the political stage their companies and those in the rest of the world are. Add in huge Chinese support and I think this announcement while not welcome actually doesn't really matter hugely for the (hopefully) short time Trump will be around.
