Leeds Rhinos win the challenge cup final :)
Delighted to see Gregor recall Finn to the squad for Friday night's game, but more importantly, it's fantastic to see Duhan being called into his first Scotland squad. He'll be a huge player for us!
Brilliant match between Exeter and racing 92
two weeks running i've been up watching the box and two weeks running i've forgot the all-blacks v australia bledisloe cup games, 27-7 this week after a 16-16 draw last week so new zealand need just one win from remaining two games to be played in Oz.
I read that the week before the match they only had 1 new case of covid 19 in the whole country. They have pretty much eliminated it by taking ultra tough measures at the start such as shutting their borders etc.
Sad about Roy Laidlaw and his Alzheimers condition. What a nice man and his family are great too.
England v Barbarians game off on Sunday, 12 Barbarians players breached Covid protocols.
Scotland playing well against Georgia tonight
It’s a pumping
Good professional performance. Some basic errors but that’s to be expected in the 1st game of the season. Very impressive use of the driving maul which isn’t something Scotland have historically been good at. And Georgia are usually tough up front. Would have liked to have seen some more expansive play and get the backs involved more but maybe not ideal conditions for that. Thought we looked markedly more threatening when Russell came on.
Very happy with tonight's result and performance. Fraser Brown was fantastic, as were Darcy Graham, Jamie Ritchie and Blair Kinghorn. Thought Finn added something extra when he came on too, and you can really see what van der Merwe is going to add to this team - him on one wing and Graham on the other bodes well for pace and power on the flanks.
Quite disappointed with Adam Hastings tonight - his kicks in open play were alright, but his conversions were poor.
agree, Scotland’s pack in general played well, as has already been mentioned, the driving maul was a weapon not often displayed by Scotland.
Finn Russell changed the dynamics of the game, the ball was moving more quickly and more purposefully. I find Hastings to be quite a conservative fly half, Russell brings an X factor that makes his team much more dangerous.
overall, a very professional performance, the type of result that too often Scotland haven’t turned in, in previous times we’d have hugged and puffed to a fairly narrow victory, this is more like what a NZ, Australia, SA, or an England would do. No fuss, just get the job done in a comfortable manner. I’ve criticised Townsend a lot, but he needs to be given credit here.
Plenty positives from lasts nights game . Generally Scotland never usually play that well in the first of the autumn test matches so it was good to get a convincing victory even if Georgia weren't that great . Good confidence builder for the next weekends game which will a tough match but not unwinnable I'd say . Finn ads that extra X factor to the team so it good to see that they've come to their senses and sorted out their differences
Ireland beat italy 50-17 to go top of six nations, if they beat france next week with a bonus point they win the six nation, if they win without a bonus point then england will win it by beating italy with a bonus point
France v Wales tonight ITV 4 8:10pm ko
FT ospreys 3 glasgow 12
NRL grand final, Sunday morning at 8.30 for the league fans. Penrith v Melbourne.
Ospreys really are a completely different animal this year under Toby Booth - they're playing some really explosive stuff, but are also controlling games very well indeed. A poor outing from Glasgow, but obviously missing some key players to the Georgia game yesterday.
Looking forward to France vs Wales in 10 minutes. Should be a cracking game.
What an explosive start!
Wales with a try inside the opening minute.
France finding their stride now - 3 tries in response to the Welsh going ahead - some incisive and very fast rugby from the French.
as good as they can be it's astonishing the amount of penalties the french give away
another french try 31-16
then concede a try straight away lol
31-21
lovely try 36-21. conversion to come
well done the women getting a 13-13 draw with france, if it wasn't for the very poor line-outs they really could have won that, they had the the bulk of the possession just a pity at those line outs. beautiful conversion for our try as well, hastings would have been proud of that kick
France looking really decent at the moment.
Wales Scotland will be a good game this weekend. Hopefully we (Wales) will just edge it.
I think this is one of the better chances we've had at getting a win down in Wales - the squad look harmonised, our star players are performing well and we're making fewer technical mistakes than last year. The addition of van der Merwe gives us a high-speed tank on the left side too, with the explosive pace of Darcy on the right. If we can keep it competitive and manage the breakdowns well, I think we could genuinely come close to getting a much needed win!
Hope it's a good game regardless of the score.
great chance for 3 points in the first two mins but russell puts it wide
sigh
another **** up by the scottish line out leads to a welsh try, russell off injured, not taking advantage of our early possession, only one way this will go now imo
7-3
7-6 HT. Shouldn't be behind at half time but still think we will go on to win
Hogg not happy with the captain deciding to take the penalty instead of kicking for touch down at the try line.
HT 7-6
Need to utilise the wind now in the second half. Played well but haven’t capitalised.
when your told by the referee to use it price...******* use it
woop scottish try :)
i cant believe hastings missed that conversion
Abysmal conversion
That’s how you take a penalty/conversion
brilliant kick halfpenny, makes hastings attempt look even more ridiculous
hastings pass intersected. he's not having a great game is he, now off injured
mon scotland get another try
penalty scotland :greengrin 14-10 should secure the win :)
really could have been a lot more
first three wins on the bounce for 24 years, only a 3rd away win(exc italy) in 42 games
not a classic by any means but well done
Good start to the day. Ritchie deserved man if the match in a deserved victory. Positives to build in!! Right, cmon Hibs make it a Carlsberg day
I just don’t think Hastings is very good. Would be great to have a more capable back up behind Russell. His kicking is terrible.
Only caught the last 20 but what caught my eye was the lack of stupid mistakes that usually pop up with Scotland. Seemed very disciplined.
The only highlight of the day. Scotland were tremendous particularly our defensive game. Very disciplined which is the most pleasing aspect of this big win. Only got breached once which came from a very poor line out in our own 22.
Hopefully we continue this form and momentum going forward.
wales had(i think) about 14 turnovers so not that disciplined :greengrin of course we have to give scotland credit for the win but, that welsh performance was one i've not witnessed for a long time.
elsewhere that was a hammering the all blacks dished out to the wallabies this morning 5-43 to win the series
Frankly disgusted by the failure of the comm to apologise for audible swearing there. Don’t they realise sensitive football fans might be watching?
not a great irish performance, deserved win for france. 35-27
england win on points
Not exactly the best rugby I've ever seen but I enjoyed that Wales - Scotland match. Scotland closed the game brilliantly
Thank god Scotland won yesterday or my state of depression would be off the scale. I think there is a real changing if the guard at the moment. Scotland have got a younger team than we have for a while. And for the first time in absolutely years we have a good set of forwards and a good set of backs at the same time. Wales are going backwards. Guys like AWJ, North and Halfpenny didnt have much impact on the game and are hard to replace. Tupiric was a big kiss for them as well and Scotland's back row were the better if the two. The Scotland bench was stronger than the Welsh one too. All in all looking promising for Scotland
Incredibly uncomfortable first win of the season for Edinburgh against a stubborn Scarlets side - even after they went down to 13 men (eventually getting back to 14) they were resolute and hard to break down.
Less penalties and errors tonight, which was encouraging. Hopefully the return of our international players will give us another lift.
League Fans - The opening state of origin game is on Wednesday at 9.10am.
Wales poor again on the weekend. Tons of pens given away.
I think we will have a poor autumn tournament and that will be Pivac away. He dosent look the right man for the job.
Well dont to Scotland. Played well and I dont mind losing to the country I reside in and support.
Do you think that there is an aging group of previously excellent players in that team who no longer have the same impact on games, but you are struggling to replace them? I thought for the first time in a long time that if you were to pick a XV out of the squads the majority would have been Scots
Maybe there is some of that but we have some really good young players and some of the players aren't that old they have just been around a long time. AWJ is the exception to that.
How good were The All Blacks on Saturday morning? Fantastic viewing.
Glasgow taking a bit of a batter at home to Leinster tonight, but they've sticking in there, putting them under pressure in the second half.
Still, Leinster well ahead in abysmal conditions.
Bah.
Up 10 zip and now down 18-10 with 10mins to go.
both finn russell and adam hastings out of the upcoming nations cup matches with hastings likely to also miss next years six nations, costly win over wales.
Some turnaround from last week, Aus 24 NZ 22.
Edinburgh playing Cardiff tonight. Monday night rugby a bit odd!
I had my worries around the 60 minute mark that it was going to be called off and it just got worse...
Great performance from Edinburgh - shutting any team out is impressive, but especially when our team was mainly second string players with none of our internationals back in the fray yet.
Sky sports Live now for the state of origin in Aus.
Should be awesome.
Plenty Autumn Series Internationals on Amazon Prime from this Sunday onwards.

Good weekend of rugby coming up although France v Fiji is off due to Fijians testing + for Covid
Wales look pretty poor again tonight. Too many mistakes and penalties. No control at breakdown, struggling at scrum time. Not looking good for them just now
Good game between The All Blacks and Argentina so far, Argentina ahead 16-3 at HT.
Argentina win 25-15. 1st ever win v The All Blacks.
Watching Italy v Scotland on Amazon Prime. Hoggy is a passionate guy, he was totally overcome during Flower of Scotland. I'm sure he is also a Hibby as I've seen him at Easter Road a good number of times.
i can't remember a scottish performance littered with so many errors
HT italy deservedly lead 11-7
and another penalty gifted at the start of the 2nd half..14-7
Scotland leading 17-19
FT italy 17 scotland 28
by jings that was scrappy, longest 80 mins of rugby i've ever watched :greengrin. a player with a guid scottish surname getting the man of the match award...van der merwe :)
Delighted for him. I've championed Duhan to be an asset to Scotland for years now, as he's sensational for Edinburgh. A tank of a boy that has pace and good agility.
We made hard work of that today but good resilience to come back from such an abysmal opening.
Really good second half, less penalties and much more accurate at the breakdown. Good result
Well, what do you know.
:greengrin

italy v fiji cancelled this weekend after 29 positive tests returned from the fijians  france were awarded a 28-0 win for their cancellation so i assume the italians will get the same ? no doubt they will all be fit and raring to go for the scotland game :greengrin
Queensland beat NSW to win the series 2-1.
Heartsesque professional foul 3mins from time when Addo Carr was taken out chasing a kick 10m from the try line. Probably should have been a penalty try but just a penalty and they held out.
So France top the group despite not having played a minute of rugby? And Italy likely to follow suit? Why are we even bothering - what a farce this competition already is. Fine, give France the win, but no need for a bonus point, table topping outcome
Scotland v Fiji now cancelled, pity as i was really looking forward to that fixture more than the game with france, so looks like the game with france on sunday will be the decider though the french will then know what they need against the italians, what a farce for the fijians though all that travelling/training for nowt.
fancy the french against us, they will still be smarting after that defeat to us costing them the six nations.
Australia v Argentina 15 all draw. Argentina are a decent side but they are niggly annoying *******s
Wales poor again today.
Looking forward to Scotland France tomorrow.
Also Eddie Jones comments about Ireland in the press! What a ******.
Called them the United nations.
Aye because you don't have the Vinupola boys who were born in NZ and grew up in South Wales!!!
