Yeah there's no way a new shirt sponsor wouldn't be announced as such. Interesting that we do appear to be waiting until the strip launches though.

Meh. Whatever generates the most income for us tbh. An ethical shirt sponsor is fairly low down my priority list when it comes to Hibs. Don't think we're in a position as a club to be too picky when it comes to things like sponsorship deals.
As a club we're involved in a number of positive schemes, green initiative for example. There has to be some kind of balance though from a revenue perspective. Scottish game as a whole has been plastered with Ladbrokes, Tennents, Glen's vodka, William Hill in the last few years alone so I don't think we can be too critical of Hibs. We've had Carlsberg, Whyte and Mackay, Crabbies, Marathon Bet previously so we've hardly been leading the way
Eden Mill by the way are fairly on the ball in terms of sustainability. Sure I read they were looking to introduce Scotland's first carbon neutral distillery in the next couple of years. Not all bad!
It’s funny how some booze gets a pass and others don’t.
Eden Mill strike me as a classy high end drink. Glens Vodka on the other hand was bought aged 16 to get blackout drunk in the cheapest manner possible. Sometimes as a warmup to a nightclub or in the park with mates.

Interesting article on what is and isn't allowed.
For alcohol, "strong" alcohol over 15% is not allowed. And then there's individual country laws to follow (France iirc has a blanket ban on all alcohol advertising on shirts)

I did find it bleakly amusing that several Premiership clubs, including Hibs, were advertising Dragon Soop all of last season. I think there was an advert for El Dorado on display during the Scottish Cup Final as well.
I suppose in theory a can of Dragon Soop and a double hopped IPA from a craft brewery are the same ABV but they are aimed at completely different target markets. The former is bordering on being aggressively marketed at those little more than children.
I accept that clubs in Scotland probably can't be too picky about who we have as a sponsor, particularly on the back of a pandemic. However we are probably not all that far from the post gambling sponsorship world and I doubt further regulations on alcohol are far away either. In the 70s, 80s or even 90s it would have been unthinkable that an F1 car wouldn't have Rothmans or Marlboro plastered all over it or snooker wouldn't have been the Embassy or B&H whatever but here we are. Maybe it's best to be ahead of the curve now.
Funny you mention that. I like a malt whisky, my Mrs buys a bottle every birthday, Xmas father's Day etc. I treat myself to a new bottle once every month or so. I also drink beers or ciders in the house if watching some sport and partial to having a jack d and coke or a bottle of rum. She is fine with that.
As soon as I say I might fancy getting a bottle voddy for a change (not cheap ***** either) all of a sudden she starts moaning, saying why you getting vodka? cause you want to get reekin, your such an ally etc etc. I always find it amusing she has this attitude, but is fine with everything else.
Hibs announcing something at 2pm. Reckon it will be the new strips
I reckon its the Jack Ross deal also.... theyd have teased the new strip if it was that.
it’s got to be a signing, releasing a kit isn’t deemed good news surely.
Hibs were filming something recently at ER and elsewhere. I know a couple of people who were involved and they were sworn to secrecy about the content but told it would be released this week. I was doubtful but the confirmation of an announcement at 2pm makes me think they were correct.
It’ll be Leigh in the new strip telling us that Irvine and Jack Ross have also signed new contracts and that the early bird offer has been extended.....kill a few birds....😎
