I hope these cowards are caught and imprisoned.

I really can't understand the mindset of someone who carries out an act like this. What goes through their heads? 'You find people of the same sex attractive so I'm going to humiliate you then physically assault you.'

I understand we all have a level of subconscious prejudice within us but hating people because of their sexuality, gender, race, religion etc and then acting on that in a physical manner is just a totally alien concept to me. I can't understand how someone with a basic understanding of rational behaviour and reasoning reaches that point.

Good post. I can only imagine it's a mixture of poor education, upbringing, power and a lack of self-esteem. How low does someone's self-esteem have to be that they think battering a female couple on the bus would improve it? Sadly there's many of them amongst us.

Four male teenagers aged between 15 and 18 have been arrested.

They are being questioned on suspicion of robbery and aggravated grievous bodily harm.

Humans..the most ****ed up creatures on the planet. Why? Possibly a sense of untouchability, the fear of retribution by law is outweighed by their bravado. Mob rule is a well researched phenomena too. This type of thing will never stop I'm afraid.

I presume that's a typo and you meant "hate crime"; if so, that'll be the "aggravated" nature of the alleged crime, as the law is slightly different in England & Wales with regard to this sort of thing.

This story genuinely brought tears to my eyes; it's mind-boggling that, in modern times, anyone in this country should be in fear for their physical safety because of their sexuality. It reminded me of an incident on a Lothian Bus about 10 years ago when I saw a guy sexually assault a pair of young girls. I intervened and the guy was arrested, charged and (I assume) convicted, but I'll never forget the look of fear on the girls' faces. I've had my fair share of experience of crime, but there's something about this type of crime that is so degrading that its' effects will extend way beyond the incident itself.

16 year old becomes the 5th arrest

Seen pictures of the girls on the news … cowards, animals … it almost seems pointless to say anything when you see incidents like this, I cant even comprehend the mindset of these 'people' ….. They should all be sentenced to a days boxing with the British Olympic squad, then we'll see what sort of men they are … ****in' ****.

Nothing surprises me about the depths of behaviour some people will stoop to.
At least some arrests have been made. We'll see what happens.

its absolutely ****ing awful to watch. To reduce people’s love for one and other to the sexual gratification of a few mindless idiots is unforgivable. It’s sad to see this sort of thing go on, but refreshing to see the condemnation from all who have witnessed it. Hopefully the perpetrators are found and prosecuted.
