This murder has the potential to initiate a return to some very dark days in South Africa.
All in time for the imminent arrival of delegates, supporters, players and the World media for the World Cup in a few months.
Interesting to hear that Terrablanche's followers are now claiming they are on the receiving end of racial violence/attacks...
Shame, it looked as if it might have been a double celebration:boo hoo:
Fire alert over Blairs' burnt breakfast toast
Firefighters were called out to the home of ex-prime minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie after their burnt breakfast toast set off a smoke alarm. Mr Blair's spokesman said firefighters had already arrived before they could be told it was a false alarm.
Four engines were sent to the 17th Century building in Wotton Underwood when the alarm went off on Saturday.A spokesman for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the Blairs were given fire safety advice.
Mr Blair's spokesman said that, because the house was a grade one listed building, the alarm was "automatically connected" to the local fire station.
'Smoke without fire'
He said: "The Blairs were cooking breakfast when the smoke alarm went off.
"In fact it was just smoke without a fire but by the time Mrs Blair rang the fire service to tell them they didn't need to come, they were already on their way."
He said it was "all rather embarrassing" and Mrs Blair would be sending the fire service a "big thank you note".
A spokesman for Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said two crews from Haddenham and one from Aylesbury went to the Blairs' South Pavilion home but another crew from Oxfordshire that had set out was sent back.
He said: "When they got there, it was basically some burnt toast that had set the alarm off, so it was a smaller incident than was first hoped.
"The smoke was cleared with a fan and the firefighters gave some fire safety advice."
The world is undoubtedly a better place without this strutting racist buffoon. One does worry about the potential for inter-communal violence, though.
If anyone hasn't seen it, Nick Broomfield's 1991 documentary about Terreblance "The Leader, His Driver and the Driver's Wife" is an absolute must. I'm sure it can be found somewhere on the internet. It achieves the not inconsiderable feat of simultaneously exposing the vileness of Terreblanche and his supporters, and being extremely funny with it.
It seems things have been simmering away for quite a while, and the authorities might just be able to keep the lid on it until after the football.
One thing that I found interesting on the news this morning was the revelation that the majority of farmers in SA are still white. The government seems to have no strategy for encouraging black farmers.
This could well lead to another Zimbabwe, where the farmers are chased away and no-one is able to take over tending the land.
My thoughts are with the family.
Anybody watched Nick Broomfield's excellent documentary 'His Big White Self'?

Funeral was held today...
Apartheid anthems were sung at the 'ceremony'..
All this talk of racial tension leading up to The World Cup is nothing but media hype... The AWB has few members these days...
In fact, Lets have a sing-song.
"shoot the boer"
join in if you know what the song is about.
Not the best FR. Best intentions but what do you know about life in SA?
Not many of us knew what life was like in Nazi Germany, but I'm sure we can all agree that Adolf Hitler's death was a good thing, no?
This is on a much less grand scale than the above example, but no less significant.
He was a viscious, violent and racist thug who lead a group of people hell-bent on the persecution of a people based on skin colour alone, using a swastika-style flag to represent his group.
His death is a mixed blessing though as it is liable to re-ignite racial tension in SA.

Where, pray-tell, does Chuckie "criticise" anyone?
I'd have thought basic humanity crosses nations and continents. When someone is as inhumane as that horrible ******** was it doesn't matter if they are in Birmingham, or Bloemfontein, they deserve to be treated like they are sh*t.
I'm laughing at a racist, nazi, bullying thug, being killed by one of the people e has oppressed. Yes, I am delighted he is dead. Don't make out he is as deserving of sympathy as anyone else after all the suffering and misery he and his type have caused.
Sorry mate, but I cannot regard Terreblanche and his type as equal human beings, they deserve to be treated they way they treated others. I'm not going to feel any sympathy for someone who could support as evil a system as apartheid.
I don't understand,
Shouldn't we be using our intelligence, and taking "thugs" like this and rehabilitating them into positive people for society, finding out why they turned evil?
Terreblanche just had a bad childhood probably.
Seems some people are letting their uncontrolled anger get in the way of what is right.
