The draw is the 16th of June, the matches are 22nd and 29th of July.
Not relevant to us any more, but Villarreal completely blew it against Real Madrid in the last five minutes of their La Liga game this evening. Conceded two late goals to lose 2-1 and drop out of the Europa League places in Spain. This means that there almost certainly won't be automatic group stage European football for St Johnstone (and similarly wouldn't have been for us had we won today).
Not much consolation for us obviously, but maybe just a little.
While I’d obviously have preferred to be looking at the Europa League ties, the ECL at least gives us a wider range of potential opponents, and the opportunity to pore over the closing stages of far flung European leagues to see who else has qualified.
How many rounds from the group are we now and are we likely to be seeded at all?
After watching that today I don't think I'll be having any sleepless nights thinking about our forthcoming Euro adventure.
Yep we are now in the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League and the draw is on 16th June. St.Johnstone are now in the Europa draw and good luck to them
Thanks all, so best we can hope for is a round or two, but unlikely to make the groups. The best thing to come from third is probably a bye in the league cup!
How many qualification rounds we playing?

Good summary on the attached link
Hope Chelsea absolutely pump Villa today so there's no chance of St Johnstone getting group stage football.
So we've finished 3rd in the league and we can't even qualify for the europa league?
which is a nonsense. regardless of yesterday's result I've said before that finishing higher in the league should always out trump a cup win for European placings.
win 5-6 games or finish third over 38 games... no brainer

We find out our potential opponents on 16th June. It will be the winners of a 1st qualifying round tie so we won’t have long in real terms to book travel should the opponents be on the green list. Hoping for a League of Ireland opponent personally.
We could potentially draw Hibernians FC of Malta I believe
[QUOTE=Billy Whizz;6577277]Hibs and Aberdeen are both seeded[/QUOTE
We’re going on an adventure!!
I see Tottenham will be England’s representatives for the conference league.
Sorry if it’s already been covered but is there anywhere we can see a list of teams we could come up against in our first qualifying round?
I thought this new tournament was supposed to give the "lesser" leagues a decent shot at extended European football. How come the Scottish representatives still have to play six ****ing games to get there? No doubt some loser 10th placed Spanish/Italian/English team qualifies automatically?
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021...ference_League tends to be kept well up to date - it’s already been updated to include Spurs.
I think it does give lesser leagues more opportunity. Thats to compete in it not win it though. We'll probably be playing teams from Luxembourg, Iceland, Gib, Estonia etc in the qualification rounds. We will have a much better chance in making the group stage in the Conference League than we have done in the Europa League. I'm looking forward to it, love our European history and our European adventures. The more games the more potential dosh!! Be great to play teams from Wales or Ireland in our qualifiers!
So from what I can gather we're several games away from a group stage, whilst teams that have finished lower in their "better" national leagues enter at a later stage than we do, and are then seeded to further increase their chances of progression? Quite corrupt in my opinion.
Do we now come in the League cup at the knock out stage?
So we have 3 ties to try and negotiate to get through into the groups of this competition?
What would it have been if we won the cup?
Maybe ive read it wrong but it looks like aberdeen are seeded but hibs seeding is not yet confirmed. Is that right?
Not sure of dates of Euro 20 / 21 but assuming Scotland are eliminated after group will Nesbit , if still with us , be available for our first Euro match on 22nd July ? I assume he`d get 2 or 3 weeks holiday . Any other players who may be unavailable cause of late holidays after internationals ? Boyle ?
If we have a European tie and some of our players are given leave/holidays I will lose the bloody head.
Are players not legally entitled to holidays ? Was there not a Euro match we played with Riordan and O `Connor ( ? ) on bench cause they`d hardly trained . When Yogi was in charge I think . Anyway , other clubs will be in same position and we have 2 months to make plans . Anyway , probably only mean Nesbit can`t play pre season friendlies or Tierney play against us .
I'm sure I'll feel differently soon but right now talk of Europe can get in the bin.
Thanks Billy that is very clear.
2nd round should be easy enough but ramping up after that.
Suspect if we reach the play off round we would meet a big team dropping from a tournament above so unlikely to make it over the final hurdle.
However, as always fingers crossed that the draw is kind and we take our chance if there is one to reach the group stages.
Surely Hibs will be seeded so will avoid the likes of Roma and Spurs?
I'd love us to get Santa Clara from the Azores, but I bet we draw a Belarusian team.
It's unlikely that we'll be allowed to travel anyway.
What's the likely hood of us being seeded for all qualifying rounds of the ECL and avoiding big names in the draw???

usually find this site more accurate than wikipedia or anywhere else for up to date seedings, coefficients and potential draws in UEFA competitions.
Link above answers a bunch of questions recently posted on this thread.
Not being seeded in Q3 could play into our favour here.
Assuming the play off is drawn before Q3 is finished then we'd have the higher coefficient of our opponents in Q3 in the draw for the play-off which would increase the likelihood of being seeded.
Would still require an upset in the form of us beating a seeded team in Q3, but it would not be impossible - there are some big upsets every year in the qualifying rounds.
below are the teams we could play in Q3 - to be seeded in the play-off we would likely need to draw one of the teams with a coefficient of 17 or higher.

If we get drawn against Molde again, at least they won’t have Erling Haaland this time.
As more clubs qualify for the Conference League it is confirmed that Hibs are now seeded for the second round qualifying draw along with Aberdeen.
