Lost At Sea......

Although not a London Hibs member (but after this I'll be having a word!), a life long Hibby from Bromley, Kent recently had a traumatic experience whilst diving in the Adriatic. Liz's dad Terry Gale (a fellow Air Traffic Controller) writes:

"Dave Anderson, and his girlfriend, Liz Gale, were dramatically rescued from the sea by a Croatian coastguard boat last Monday. Dave, a 22 year old expatriate Scot now living near Bromley in Kent, was out on a days diving expedition with Liz and the crew, 10 adults and 2 children, off the coast near the island of Korcula. Although the weather and sea was described as ok, the dive boat was swamped by a freak wave and started to sink. The party quickly donned life jackets as the boat started to list, then it slipped below the waves from beneath them. After entering the water Dave spotted his beloved Hibs shirt floating in the sea about 30 metres away but, when within a finger tips reach, it slipped below the waves under the pull of the sinking boat. It now lies at the bottom of the Adriatic. After 45 minutes in the water the whole party was rescued by the Croatian Coastguard and the couple were able to continue their holiday, on dry land. Liz described the incident as a bit scary but said that Dave was grieving most for his lost Hibs away shirt. Dave texted home It was last seasons white away shirt, probably irreplaceable, unless by one signed by all the players, however, a part of Croatia is forever Hibernian!

Dave is scheduled to visit Easter Road within the next few weeks before he jets off to the USA to start a training course for his new job; hell now have to find time to visit the Club Shop!"

Should any Hibs supporters be in the area and find the shirt on a beach they are asked to return it to him as he's grieving over its loss. Email [email protected].  If not, a surprise maybe in store for Dave!
