THE JACK AND GARRY STORY

We first met in Heathrow Airport in 1989 when me myself and a mate Stuart were going to Hungary to see Hibs and make a weeks holiday out of the trip. Well, we were not going to be needing any money for the next round were we? :o)

Anyway, resplendent in Hibs tops and kilts, Garry's wife Jane came up to us and asked us if we wanted to join up with them for the trip. We had no accommodation booked at all and they insisted that we stay with them in a log cabin set within the grounds of a hotel called the Voros Schillag (sp?) five miles from the centre of Budapest.

We kept in touch and GM came up for the Skol Cup Final in '91 and the ill fated final at Parkhead where Satan came on to score with an overhead kick.

We lost touch about 5 years ago when GM moved house and I tried to get details of new no. etc through the net but without success. Up steps Bobby Sinnet two weeks ago with a possible address under his wife's name. I sent off a brief letter with my contact details and hoped for the best.

I received an e-mail the weekend before the Cup Final, called him, and we spoke on the phone for a couple of hours. He said that he was looking forward to the final and was going to watch it in a pub in Bognor Regis on his own. I told him that I had a ticket for the game with his name on it but he said there was no way he could make it at short notice and given the cost involved. I started sowing the seeds of a trip North and asked him how he was going to explain to his children, in years to come, not going to see Hibs lift the Cup when given a chance to do so. I then had the idea of telling him that I would contact you to see if there was any space on your bus which would be the cheapest, fastest and best option.
