AS THE RECORD BOOKS CLEARLY SHOW, season 1979/80 was a dismal one that ended in relegation for Hibernian Football Club but despite that fact there was reason to go and watch the men in green and white at every opportunity from November 1979 onwards as Chairman Tom Hart had pulled off a signing that when first revealed brought scornful reactions from the rest of Scottish football. In a move that shocked everyone to the core Tom Hart secured the signature of wayward superstar George Best and in doing so set the game in Scotland alight.

Well I suppose the good news would be to suggest that barring the two recent high profile Celtic games there hasn't been any real need to post up views on the SPL since the Hibs V Rangers game (which incidentley I got wrong as Lafferty was ordered off for violent conduct for the attempted punch at McBride rather than the tackle on Miller).

So says Lawrie Reilly and it is both an honour and privilege to review a book that should become part of every Hibs fans memorabilia collection and that is the long awaited autobiography of the great man himself, one time centre forward in the Famous Five and all time Hibernian hero and legend. As Lawrie himself says he has been fortunate to live such a long and happy life and it is to our benefit that he has chosen to share that life with us by writing this book in collaboration with Ted Brack who has himself written two previous Hibernian books of the highest order.
