"I'm pleased for Boris "..****##
Iím a nationalist and independence is my overriding consideration when voting. Having said that I absolutely loved the labour manifesto and everything that Corbyn was saying during the election. Under normal circumstances without brexit and after years of Tory austerity I think that Corbyn might...
I'm a lifelong Labour voter, but, having heard the crap coming out of the Tories this week, I am seriously considering voting 'Yes' in the referendum if that is going to be the future.
I'd be interested to hear other's thoughts.
Is anyone here a vegetarian or vegan? I would imagine a few are. I've been thinking about trying to go veggie for years on and off, but have never taken the plunge, the main reason being the restricted diet and faffing aboot. It's so much easier to be vegetarian now, due to the wide variety of...
I thought it would be nice to have a thread about the positive things that happen in the world for a change.
Post your heartwarming stories in here.
First up - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24170670
I was concerned about this story, and I mentioned it to a colleague who still has family in Zimbabwe.
They say it is fake news, the pictures are from the summer, and the falls are fairly flooding now. In...
We are constantly told that racism and discrimination in general are not really a big problem.
The story above shows that isn't the case.
Anybody got other examples of the barriers some people...
I've just received a quote for 2 x dental implants totalling over £6k. Seems a bit excessive to me so I'm considering heading to Spain, Turkey etc. where costs seem significantly cheaper. Just wondering if anyone on here has done this already and could maybe offer some advice and/or a...
Sells for £90k...WTF :confused::confused::confused:
An organisation that just canít seem to resist criminal behaviour when an opportunity presents itself....
I wasn't sure whether to post this here or the dug out. I know there are a lot of cooks and food lovers on Hibs.net so wondered if there were any tips we could share? I'm sure we all do something we think is unique with what we cook but tips can be really useful. It could be to add flavour, reduce...
It's international fact checking day! And to celebrate, fact checking site the ferret has collated their results from the past year.
By comparison, the SNP (Scot Labour results were broadly similar).
Lived abroad for many years now but from news, social media, conversations with friends it seems that many people define themselves and/or the party they 'support' by who they dislike rather than what they actually believe or relate to. I rarely see anything like "I like Johnson/Corbyn/Sturgeon...
Wee Nicky doesnt know if she's coming or going just now .
We need a referendum because were being dragged out of the EU #castironmandate
Now she's not even sure an independent Scotland will join the EU
The General Election is not about independence says Nicola
I've seen this phrase used a lot recently, and it begs the question - how on earth did we get to a point where a proven (repeatedly) liar is given the top job in the country? It seems to be that politicians can lie at will about stuff now, and it's just batted off or dismissed.
Words cannot describe how much I loathe this man. Hideous hunched tory git. The man just oozes lies. Arrgggghhhhh

Did anyone else watch this documentary that has just finished on BBC One?
It was morbidly fascinating and was quite informative about a part of Edinburgh's history I'm aware of but woefully ignorant about the detail. It was interesting to see how wrong the Police got it, and heartening to hear...
In 2014, the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction ("SIGAR") undertook a project with the aim of learning from mistakes made in Afghanistan post 9/11. SIGAR has produced several reports in recent years on this topic, which were purportedly based on interviews with a...
Did anyone watch the show about him tonight? Absolutely heartbreaking watching such a good guy going through such a horrible illness. The fact that heís remained so positive and raised so much money for research into MND is truly remarkable. Itís a fight he canít win, but I sincerely hope that his...
Anyone else have these problems? My old man is from the old brigade who thinks pull yourself together is the answer. Never used to be like this and time in the army hasn't helped. However, I'm not afraid to admit things and feel no stigma in being affected by this.
Just wondering if other...
If you havenít seen it yet, well worth a watch. An irreverent view of what the 4 main Scottish political party leaders think of the upcoming General Election and Scottish affairs in general.
As always with Jack Docherty, a wee nod to the Hibees towards the end of the programme.:greengrin
To begin with I fully support efforts to reduce carbon dioxide levels and hope that any climate disasters are prevented, but Iíve been watching a tv series about the eveloution of our planet. It seems to be every 100, 000 years or so we enter an ice age and in between we have mini ice ages. None of...
Seems comfortable drinking in places like Hartlepool etc.
He certainly isn't welcome in Scotland. Think he already knows that though. Would love to see him and his cronies in Glasgows East end

Just wondering as my son left a bag in a hotel in st julian, any help much appreciated
With the focus on what appears to be the looming confirmation of Boris Johnson as PM, Jo Swinson's victory in the Lib Dem leadership election has taken something of a back seat. I must say I didn't know a great deal about her, but reading through this she's got a very solid background in politics...
A couple of folk who I still respect, but I won't name, gave up arguing the toss on here a good while ago.
I'm sure they did so because their arguments were just being met with the same clichťs and dismissive assertions time and time again, so there was little point debating.
Most, if not all, of us balk at senseless violence, cruelty, sexual assault and paedophilia, but occasionally there are incidents which defy all logic, usually criminal, but not necessarily, which I think need further examination.
I'll start the ball rolling with the following example.
Prince Andrew is being accused of allegedly having sex with a women who was under the legal age of sexual consent in the state sheís from in America.
Now obviously heís innocent until proven guilty but you have to ask why a member of our monarchy was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jeff...
One of the twice yearly excuses to eat haggis!!
Great speech on free speech and social media. Well worth watching.

Catalan leaders jailed for up to 12 years for the independence referendum in 2017, El Prat airport taken over by protestors, all kicking off..
More awful scenes in London. Horrible echoes of 2017. Some very brave punters involved in disarming the attacker.
Apologies for another thread but after last night's results be interesting to see whether people think it will actually happen.
Will we leave on the 31st October?
Does anyone do anything to supplement their full time wage? I work Monday - Friday 8-4 and earn a decent amount for my age but am finding it isnít really stretching far enough, especially as Iím trying to save for my first mortgage. I canít do any overtime in my role which is incredibly...
I'm on holiday in Oz and not able to properly keep up but I've read some accounts that NS performed very badly on some TV show.
Well, it's almost here!!
The unbelievable is about to happen tomorrow.
I wonder how it's all going to pan out.
Whatever happens, it's going to be a roller coaster. Hold on................
Seems Ian Blackford is a hibee 👌
42 seconds in he name drops The mighty Hibernian.
Clive James (caused hilarity in the 1983 Higher English exam who used his review of Hulk)
Gary Rhodes (gor us all eating British and updated TV cheffery banishing Fanny Craddock forever)
Jonathan Miller - seminal direction of Rigoletto and La Boheme.
Why has this story appeared?
It's a total non-story, but it seems to me that it's designed to make sure that as many euro-sceptics as possible don't vote Labour.
