  4. Great opening lines.

Watching a good programme about the Mississippi tonight, it brought to mind one of my favourite and iconic opening lines to a song : “The Mississippi delta was shining like a national guitar”. from Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’....... so visually emotive. Any others?

  5. The hunt for alien life

It’s a subject that absolutely fascinates me. The universe is so vast that that intelligent life must exist, even if it’s not widespread. What bothers me is our way of looking, we search for radio waves, what if other civilisations don’t commicate that way?

  6. Taking songs literally

This idea came up on the Bangers podcast last night (sort of) when we were talking about the guy that tried to jet-ski to one of the Scottish Islands to get his Nat King Cole (think it took 4 hours and I imagine he'd have been walking like John Wayne when he got there) and it led to comparisons...

  9. TV or film remakes you'd like to see

I often wonder at TV and film studios choices when it comes to remaking old classics. For example, one remake that should never have been conceived never mind actually cast, filmed and released was The Pink Panther. How did they think they were going to improve on those almost perfect...

  11. Guilty pleasures

Couldn't see a thread on this already, but what stuff do you like that you would consider a guilty pleasure (or you wouldn't necessarily be telling your mates you were into it)? Mine would be Lana Del Ray and shows like Come Dine With Me and Four in a Bed. And First Dates. I'm auld.

  13. Would you rather?

This question came up on Shortbangers last week, and i thought it was really good, so the point in this thread is to answer the question and then pose your own “would you rather” for the next person. Would you rather get a paper cut between your fingers every time you touched paper, or bite...
