Anyone using BT tonight and suffering from very slow response ?
Although lucky to have kept working throughout the pandemic my employer thinks nothing of expecting a 12/14 hour day or 55 - 60 hours a week. Even pre pandemic there was an unhealthy work culture. Is anyone else experiencing the same? A director told us since there is no need to travel to work...

Watching a good programme about the Mississippi tonight, it brought to mind one of my favourite and iconic opening lines to a song : “The Mississippi delta was shining like a national guitar”. from Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’....... so visually emotive. Any others?
It’s a subject that absolutely fascinates me. The universe is so vast that that intelligent life must exist, even if it’s not widespread. What bothers me is our way of looking, we search for radio waves, what if other civilisations don’t commicate that way?
This idea came up on the Bangers podcast last night (sort of) when we were talking about the guy that tried to jet-ski to one of the Scottish Islands to get his Nat King Cole (think it took 4 hours and I imagine he'd have been walking like John Wayne when he got there) and it led to comparisons...

Is it part of the loan deal that he got to star in the Co-op Christmas ad this year?
I often wonder at TV and film studios choices when it comes to remaking old classics. For example, one remake that should never have been conceived never mind actually cast, filmed and released was The Pink Panther. How did they think they were going to improve on those almost perfect...
Tomorrow night brings us the final episode of The Undoing. If you haven't been following theiis excellent mini series, I suggest you leave this thread immediately before doing so. It's on Sky Atlantic. I have warmed considerably to Hugh Grant since his self deprecating and quite brilliant...
Couldn't see a thread on this already, but what stuff do you like that you would consider a guilty pleasure (or you wouldn't necessarily be telling your mates you were into it)? Mine would be Lana Del Ray and shows like Come Dine With Me and Four in a Bed. And First Dates. I'm auld.
Been watching a load of old music videos on YouTube today. For me Freddie Mercury's solo stuff was pretty awful. What else in the music industry probably should not have happened?
This question came up on Shortbangers last week, and i thought it was really good, so the point in this thread is to answer the question and then pose your own “would you rather” for the next person. Would you rather get a paper cut between your fingers every time you touched paper, or bite...
Can anyone recommend any driving instructors for lessons in Edinburgh?
Just been to the exhibition in Gallery of Modern Art (TWO). Great exhibition and well worth going to see if you can get tickets. If you don’t know who Ray Harryhausen is that’s a pity but I bet you have enjoyed seeing his work in old movies like Clash of The Titans or Sinbad etc I took a...
Is there a market for old match tickets? I have a good amount of tickets from matches over the years inc AEK Athens, Odense and a few other Euro nights. I have ticket from Nantes V Rennes in the 90’s Some concert ticket stubs too. Just wondered as I thought something on another thread but...
We’re considering/have decided to get a dog - we know the types we’d like (one of my kids has allergies so we need to look for a hypoallergenic). List has been narrowed to Miniature Schnauzer, Bichon Frise, West Highland Terrier. Does anyone know where I start?
Has passed away, aged 90. One of Scotland’s finest ever actors and the quintessential James Bond. 2020 can really **** off.
What’s your favourite intro to a tune? I heard the O’Jays Backstabber on the radio this morning and although it’s not one of my favourite songs the intro, for me anyway, is superb. https://youtu.be/hzTeLePbB08 Do you have a favourite, I’m interested to see what you come up with.
Until 10pm on Wednesday. 🍺

Anyone here look at the popular Wotwine.com website or app, which purports to review the current wine on offer in UK supermarkets? I used to think it was great but I realised lately that the wines they review are hardly ever available on the shelves. For instance, they are currently...
A couple of posts on the Holy Ground got me thinking about starting this thread. So, what music books have you read that you would recommend? I’ll kick off the recommendations Young Soul Rebels (Stuart Cosgrove) - the Northern Soul scene. Detroit 67 (Stuart Cosgrove) - the first of a...
What was yours? For me it was Lost Boys.
If I'm ever anywhere really high up, I get this weird thing in my head where I think, imagine jumping off? To the point where I get quite anxious Also, I think a lot about being on an ice rink, falling over and someone slicing off a finger with their blades which is weird because I never go Ice...
