never understood why he does aw that poncy crap :hmmm: noticed the italian kicker doing a version of it when they played scotland:confused: it obviously hasn't done the wee git any harm tho :brickwallthat's him overtook gavin hastings at the top of the all-time WC points table :brickwall:boo hoo:

When he does that, it's a "trigger" to take him from a pressure situation back to when he played schoolboy rugby when, instead of 60,000 Aussies, there was maybe only 20 folk watching so not nearly as much pressure.
Most pro golfers (or sportsmen in general really) have something similar. Their "triggers" are usually more conspicuous though ie pressing their thumb and ring finger together.
On a day to day basis people do it a lot before interviews etc, to take them from a pressure situation back to a moment they remember quite vividly as a calm moment eg fishing as a kid or something.
If i'm putting in a golf match, I think back to one particular pressure putt I made 10 years ago.:nerd:
