INTERNATIONALS and the impact on hibs

It’s great to have hibs players involved in international teams, both for the players, and it helps hibs profile, we might even get some money from the various associations, especially if the players play in big tournaments.
However ive had a look at possible fixtures, and some of the African international players may be gone, for long periods of the season, especially Rocky and obita.
The main tournament the African Nations cup, starts on the 21 December until 18 January, possibly the worst time to lose players.
Ive not looked into the other international teams, but with a good run in Europe, and the possibility of losing a number of our players , to international games, it wouldn’t take long, before our squad could get stretched.

I agree, I went to Germany last summer, to support Scotland, but I coudnt say I was invested in the games, like I am hibs..
I enjoyed the banter to a certain extent, but going to Denmark this month will be a different level for me.
I always find mixing with other Scotland fans, can be like walking on egg shells, after 5 minutes you can generally guess what team the support, by who they like and dislike.

On the flip side players are attracted to a club that has a pathway to international football.

To be fair, the Euros was not your normal Scotland trip. There were literally tens of thousands of fans who have probably never travelled to a Scotland game in their puff before. Go to Copenhagen in September. Maybe 3000 Tartan Army, all there to support Scotland, regardless of the club the players will be playing for the following week.

SOL is usually very well received amongst the Tartan Amy, just like The Northern Lights and other similar regional songs.....personally, I don't like it being played when away with Scotland. It's a club song.

Yip it’s our song, but it seems to be getting played at Scotland games more .

Its not even so much us having international players as the nations they are playing for.

European leagues don't pause for ACON games ... so we lose the likes of Rocky and Obita while still having to play games.

Then you have Boyle, Miller, Iredale and Triantis, if we get him back, all having to fly half way around the world to play home international matches if the get selected. I don't care what anybody says, I fail to see how 2 flights both lasting nearly 24 hours each in a week can't affect a player, and that's practically half our outfield first pick players :confused:
