Wow what a read that was.

You have to wonder what kind of due diligence Penguin done before publishing. You can just about accept an independent film company would dive in having seen the success of the book but the former are a huge and experienced name.

Obviously there may be counter arguments to some of what was written in the article but you have to think the Observer believe their sources to be pretty watertight given the potential litigation that could come their way from various quarters.

It always amazes me how complex some people are, and to take nothing at face value.

The couple must have a brass neck like no other ! If true, of course.

Call me an old cynic, but there will be more than a few people working on the film "treatment" already.

Perhaps, though, there may be some sort of happy ending..... if the authors make a lot of money, perhaps they can pay their historic debts.

Surely they must have known this would come to light if true. I read the book and recently saw the film and in hindsight they do gloss over this part of the story in both. So maybe.
