Have been watching some chess videos on YouTube recently, seen one this morning with someone playing Eze at the palace training ground, i did enjoy playing it at school when i was younger.
Really amazing watching people play blitz and the game in general with the strategy etc, i honestly don't think i have the intelligence or skill to be any good :tee hee:
Currently on chess.com getting beat by the bot :greengrin

I'm on chess.com but mainly play 2/1 or 1 min.
450 on bullet
700 on blitz
900 on rapid.
I think I would be around 1400 in a long game but never get the peace to play one 😄
Username is Checkmatebyaccident 🤣
I like chess and play chess.com bored at work, played at school but I’m absolutely rotten at it don’t know any strategies or that.
My Mrs got me a nice set for Xmas I really like to look at a chess set but I’ve no one to play at it so it’s in a cupboard collecting dust

You can play 1 day , 3 day games and youbwill get notification when they've moved I think.
I tried it once and got bored after 20 mins.

Who knew the rook could do a Swanton Bomb from the top of a cage. Illegal move, or checkmate?

I was a good chess player at school. Won a city competition at my age group which qualified me for a national competition.
The issue was I didn't really understand strategy, still don't. I was just good at reading what other people were trying to do and reacting to it. That was fine up to a point but I got absolutely destroyed in every match of the round robin stage of the national competition. These were kids at 13/14 year old with brains like super computers and you had to understand how to actually beat them rather than just reacting to what they were doing.
I'm the same with poker. I can spot when someone is lying/bluffing a mile away. I'm just no good at calculating the percentages and probability with my own hand so don't capitalise when I'm in a good position or know when to back away when I'm not.

Similar I was good in school read up on some of the classic openings but just didn't have the time or inclination to give it my all. Still play online sometimes but irregularly
