Nailed on certainty for a bigger job given all the hype and media coverage around what a great job he's already done at the thieves.

When he was being discussed on here last year before DG was appointed, there was a school of thought that he was hiding his time for Clarke to go and that he would be the natural successor to him (possibly due to a lack of obvious alternatives).
It would be slightly amusing if he was to get the job now though

I genuinely think approaching Postecoglou to see if he’d be keen would be a good move.
With so little time to train before games you need someone who has a clear set of instructions on how to play and although it’s not worked out for him in the English Premiership, he has international experience.
We want to see the team we have put in more effort than last night and actually give it a go at major tournaments and he prefers to attack.
He also has options in midfield who would be able to press and put in the shift he prefers.
Would be a shrewd move IMO.

I’ve not been paying any attention to what’s been happening there since he arrived. What’s the hype and great job he’s been doing since his arrival? Genuinely haven’t seen or heard anything. Not that I’ve been looking.

The SFA would not allow him to have both jobs, he would have to choose one.

Agree entirely.
He is complimentary of Scotland as well.

Highly doubtful he’d leave hearts just now
Imagine if he did leave before managing a game. Highly unlikely and can be filed alongside my chances of the euro millions jackpot, but you have to hope.

Great shout!
He’s turned the Gorgie Galacticos from bottom 6 mince to hot favourites for third without taking charge of a single game and signing only one league one player.
Who knows what he could achieve given time with McTominay and co?
Rubbish!
He leaves now hertz get a load of compensation.
Sacked in 6 months after we pump them and a string of poor results and he costs hertz a fortune in compensation.

Undefeated at Hearts already, league over by July, all the big names queueing up just to get onto their computer floppy disc. His reputation will never be higher, get it done Scotland.

Been saying this all day today until someone pointed out it is too good a choice for the SFA and prob most expensive. For those reasons it will not happen. Unfortunately

Tend to agree. Would have been a top candidate if the job became available but probably not now. For what it's worth, I don't think Clarke will lose or leave his job just now either. Although that could change if we do very badly in the September qualifiers.

All about opinions however I’d rather see him away, his time is up.

Just think his record in qualifiers is very good, would likely take an age for sfa to get replacement and qualifiers are very soon

His record since the last qualifiers has been appalling. Where are the signs he can turn it around in time? That will be another campaign written off after the first couple of games. I like Clarke as well but his time’s over.

The two times we’ve gotten to a tournament (no mean feat in itself) we’ve wasted two good opportunities to progress from the groups but gone out with a whimper. The 0-0 draw against England showed what we can be when we play with grit and fire but that’s the only game that I think we’ve seen that over the six games.
We need someone who is less conservative in charge.

When do the players get the blame. The team on the park (apart from replacement goalie) were well capable of beating Iceland

It’s much, much easier to get rid of players who aren’t pulling their weight at international level - you just stop calling them up. Way too many of the old guard still in the team that keep getting game time.

I’d be ok with him staying but he has to change.
A few of the old guard need to call it a day.
There’s a 352 out there that is sort of in his mould that could be effective - if he chooses to use McTominay as a second striker.
Any goalkeeper and any striker staking any sort of a credible claim would help him enormously. He also needs to accept that he can’t fit all of his best players into a team as they’re all central midfielders.
GK (I’m not even going to suggest anyone, nightmare situation).
Tierney
McKenna
Souttar
Robertson
Christie
Gilmour
Hickey
McGinn
McTominay
Hirst
Any number of alternatives to Hirst, the centre and right of defence are up for grabs and god knows what he does for a goalkeeper.
With the number of good midfielders he has at his disposal, he needs to form a much stronger unit there to dominate games.
We’re not short of either good players or players playing well at a high level for their clubs. Most of it is there (or should be), he just needs to find a bit of inspiration for the problem positions.
And give them a bit of freedom to play. Clarke teams often look like they’re playing with the hand brake on.

Exactly. Still don’t understand why he persists with Grant Hanley for starters. Its strange.

You’d also have Doak, Ferguson, Hendry, and a few up-and-comers like Max Johnston, Patterson, Doig, Bowie, Miller to come in and back up/replace those for different types of matches as well

I’d kind of more or less expected McInnes would be taking over from Clarke. Bide his time at Kilmarnock and once the next international campaign was over he would take on the position.
He’s proper Scottish footballing establishment and would be a popular choice amongst the SFA blazers and also with the Scottish media.
When you look at how Kilmarnock fans were not really heartbroken at his departure, he maybe felt that he could be jettisoned long before the Scotland became available, and the chance to move to Tynecastle was an attractive proposition.
I think with taking this role he’s given up the chance of managing Scotland. It would have been interesting to see how he did, but would probably just have been another Clarke.

With Sevco not taking up the option on The Wee Three it has to be Barry, Kneel and Doddsi for Scotlands dugout , their wee Brogues are made for that Hampden Tech Area.
