Just clicked on some evening news article. It's giving odds of clubs to win the league.
It rates the Gorgie bawbags as 16/1 and then next is ourselves and aberdeen at 150/1.
Who writes such pish ? Must be the Mr del effect.
Roll on the new season amd put them in their place again.

Seems a bit exaggerated but B365 has Hearts at 25/1, us at 66 and Aberdeen at 80 so the general trend they're conveying is at least in line with the current bookmaker odds.

Ladbrokes, it just feeds their insatiable appetite for delusion

That's the actual prices that Ladbrokes are offering, absolutely baffling.

There must be quite a few of the deluded flumps putting money on it for the price to have came down so much. Mugs.

It isn’t the writer that makes up the odds though, you would have to blame Ladbrokes for that

Aye they must be, comical of the scale delusion at that.
Youd think theyve signed up jurgen klopp to manage them when infact they've signed the scottish Harry redknapp, been around forever, won one trophy as a manager, wheeler dealer.

Bookies are just going with the club budgets. Those with most money have best chance of success, makes sense.

Can you get a bet on top 3, as 150/1 each way must still be pretty decent?

Not yet I don't think, different markets will open in time
.
There's usually a best of the rest, without the old firm market, pretty mental if we're 10x the price of Hearts for that.

Do some folk still get the slightest bit bothered about stuff like this?

16/1 is outrageously low odds for something that's impossible.

Hearts winning the league ffs 😂😂😂

The odds reflect the betting patterns. That is what the ‘book’ is. Bookies aim to break even at worst on an event (they usually make a profit unless a heavily backed outsider wins) They increase odds on teams to attract bets, hence Hibs at 150/1. If a lot of people like those odds and bet heavily they will drop the Hibs odds and increase the odds on another team i.e Hearts. It is far too early to start making meaningful predictions this early in the pre-season, so the current odds are just to tempt!

PS Or to create annoyance on Hibs.net

Yeah, can't imagine anyone backing a non-OF team for anything less than 100/1.

No such thing as a poor bookie, much as I feel its stupid they are rarely wrong.
They always have some sort of inside info that we never get.
Its wait and see time, and there will be some muppets will take a punt, just for bravado!!!

Those odds are win only.

I would expect Hibs/Hearts/Aberdeen will be closely matched in the odds to win it without OF.

It's not that far fetched. Hearts split the Old Firm this season.

It is because they have their new investor. Bookies playing it safe just in case.

Probably just based on betting patterns
They were probably a lot higher and after the investment was announced people took a punt on the longer odds

They were certainly split from the old firm with 5 games to go

Bookies will shorten odds when they anticipate a high volume of people placing that bet. Hearts are 16/1 because thousands of the delusional fools likely bet on them winning the league each season.

It's a Hibs message board so why not discuss

Do some folk still get the slightest bit bothered about stuff like this?

And does half the main board and so much of every match day thread have to be people greeting about a newspaper article or what a pundit said?

“Michael Stewart didn’t think we were very good when we were bottom of the league, I’m all upset now”.
