We were very sad to recently hear about the passing of big Hibs fan Dermot Walsh. Dermot has supported the charity with donations over many years, and his wife Lilian told us how proud he was to have helped support the great work of Dnipro Kids, especially after the outbreak of war.

Lilian contacted us to let us know that she would be taking a collection for the charity at Dermot’s funeral, which we were very grateful of.

Lilian had these lovely words to say about the charity ..
“Dermot was a passionate lifelong Hibs fan and was proud that the Dnipro Kids charity was set up by Hibs FC supporters after the UEFA cup match in 2005 which he attended.
Dermot donated to this charity over the years and closely followed your heroic efforts to bring the children to Scotland when the war broke out. I had no hesitation in choosing Dnipro Kids as the charity for family and friends to make donations to at his funeral last week. Hopefully we will have raised a lot of money in Dermot's memory.”

Our thoughts are with Lilian and family, and we would like to thank all those that donated at the funeral, both online and in the collection boxes, that raised just under £1,000 for the charity. 🇺🇦🇳🇬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This is so sad for me to read - Dermot truly was a lovely and gentle guy and my heart goes out to Lilian and family - the angels high above will have another to take care of ☹️🥲

Dermot became part of the Glasgow HIBS contingent in the late 80s and 90s and beyond and we then were lucky to get to meet his sweetheart Lilian - a lovely girl and a great match for Dermot.

We had some fun but Dermot was a stand out great guy - too nice compared to all the Glasgow HIBS bampots.

RIP Dermot - it was a pleasure and a privilege to have known you and you will be missed by many many people 🥲🥲🥲
