Interesting piece I thought.
The bit about Souness starting the Rangers big spending era... and essentially changing Scottish football forever... I'd actually never considered how the English clubs European ban at the time fed into that.

My son and I came across Dundee UTD on YouTube beating Barcelona away 2-1 in 1987, he said what happened to Scottish football. The Souness revolution and SKY money not long after killed up for clubs outside of the OF

Exactly. Think there may be a bit of a turnaround coming as US investors look for recognition and realise Rantic have been robbing Scottish football blind for decades.

Ewen Murray is a slaver.
Last year he was bemoaning our deal with Foley/Bournemouth and how it was bad for the game and now he’s describing Bloom as a “glimmer of hope” to saving Scottish football.
Hearts have been using Jamestown for a year and it’s brought them bottom 6, 2 sacked managers and a load of signings who can’t get a start.

The US investors will get a shock when the see the local bowling and golf club blazered worthies that hold high office in the SFA with freebies and jollies galore, whilst contributing zero in terms of vision, imagination, dynamism, development and progress in the Scottish game.

Good article. It wont stop unless Rantic go off to some other league.

Thought it could be a good article until I seen Ewen Murray's name on it.
Hearts now the "one glimmer of hope" after investment. Funny how when the same thing happened here he referred to it as "desperate" and "grim..."

Quite funny that rather than say write an article about Hibs having a truly incredible finish to the season, a story that would be getting attention in any other league in the world, we get an article that is basically about the OF.
The media should take a massive part of the blame for where we stand - they have absolutely no interest in covering anyone else except the OF and occasionally their darlings like Hearts and Aberdeen

I think there’s a huge amount of truth in this. Relatively speaking, a decent sized Scottish football club doesn’t actually need that much investment (in football terms) to become a consistent third force and build exposure. It’ll be interesting now that, effectively, Hibs, Hearts and potentially Aberdeen are now doing that

:agree: Either ignorant of, or deliberately overlooking, the fact that Celtic and Rangers are dominant because they have leveraged sectarianism to their mutual advantage.

He really can't help himself. Hearts are the one glimmer of hope. Aye, so they are.

Have to say I didn't know of the writer's allegiances (or previous hypocritical work regarding Hibs investment) when I posted the article. I thought this particular piece was decent that's all

Murray is an awful journalist. To be fair, most of that was at least accurate, nothing new or particularly revealing or interesting though
