I was the same. Loved that kit, one of he few Hibs kits I actually ever bought.

I think the issue is a lot of football fans are very small c conservative and just don't like change or things that are a bit different and with it not being a traditional Hibs away colour the default position was to be adverse to it. Doesn't really explain the love for the cabbage kit (that was no more the colour of a cabbage than maroon would have been) though which was inferior in just about every way to the Puma one.
