I thought David Gray deserved a thread . What an amazing turnaround this season , even when things were at there worst he handled the situation quite remarkably and always came across in interviews really well despite the pressure he was probably under at the time .

Well done David Gray and his staff and also the Hibs board for staying strong in their belief he was the right man for the job …

Total legend. Player and manager.

Everything about him. He even shakes hands with opposition players in defeat v McInnes who hid last night from the press after openly talking publically about his next move.

I don’t think there is a Hibs fan who doesn’t want him to do well here. He unites us all. Hopefully he stays for a few years and maybe even can win us the Scottish Cup as manager!

Wonderful. Notice how quiet it is when he's speaking. Bit tearful here - again. Hibs do that to me.

Very humble guy. His talking to the media is spot on and honest. I don't think he is particularly comfortable in the spotlight but behind the scenes at training and in the dressing room etc is where it really matters and it shows. Well done SDG, you deserve all the plaudits you are getting right now.

I think Gray is a clear example of why it is so important to have a manager who really connects with fans.

It would be a total lie to say he wasn't under pressure during that bad run or to say no one called for his head because they did. But it was more restrained that it might have been had it been a Johnson or a Ross type. Even at the very worst point fans were singing his name at games.

He obviously had a lot of goodwill from his time as a player but he spoke well even in the bad times (and never got carried away in the good either). You felt he was watching the same game as the fans, he was brutally honest without ever throwing players under the bus. Most fans spot a bull****ter a mile away and that's why the 2 gaffers mentioned above never really connected here; one spoke in cliches and the other just sounded like an idiot waffling about lions. Gray has never been that. He's measured, calm, articulate and most importantly honest.

I really hope he can break the European curse that seems to be a bit of theme in Scotland now. I think he will be.

I had my doubts about him being given the post as an inexperienced manager. When we were 12th I was one of the ones who said it was the wrong move. Thankfully he was man enough to accept his decisions and tactics at the start of the season were not working. He changed it up going 3 at the back with wingbacks and the players started to click. It's probably one of the greatest turn arounds I've ever seen from us. It's been a successful season, and hopefully we build on it.

There is an opportunity for us to in Europe, the league (challenge for Europe) and the cups, and hopefully the players we sign will come in and improve the squad. Although we finished as well as we did, I do feel we need a bigger and improved squad in order for us to compete both in all competitions. Next season could be one of the biggest seasons in the club's 150 year history if we step it up a gear.

The way he turned things around after such a bad start is remarkable. A dozen or so games into the season and it looked like a big mistake to give him the job. We were terrible and SDG himself looked beaten. I was amongst those who said he should be sacked. Well, he shut me up after that. What a run of form to finish third from there. It’s so good to see him and the team get to this point. Let’s hope we can improve further yet :not worth

See I just don't agree with that at all. Aside from 2 or 3 games I thought most the football was up with the best I've seen for a considerable time.

We were far from terrible although some individual decisions (by players & officials) definitely screwed us.

There was definite signs for optimism for fair minded fans who looked beyond those results. Poor results undeserving of the general good & improving performances.

Totally different to the absence of any signs of improvement under previous management.

The first few months f the season it was constant mistakes at the back in combination with a lack of goals. We were bottom of a poor league for a while. It couldn’t have continued much longer.

I'd say it was more down to terrible challenges leading to red cards, several missed penalties & one or two shocking decisions by the officials (such as the red card for Myko & resulting penalty). I'm sure we got more than a couple of apologies from the SFA during that period.

Sure the results were poor but the overall play gave lots of scope for optimism if you looked at things objectively.

I think it's fair to say now that the players were better than the results suggested, but there is a big gap in terms of the quality of those performances and the game management and how we play today. SDG deserves a lot of credit and so do the board for ignoring people like me who wanted him sacked.

Changing to 3 at the back, enabling Iredale to start and the Caddens to be wing backs was the genesis of the revival. It was looking decidedly dicey before then, results wise, but Gray never hid or made a tit of himself in post match interviews, much unlike his predecessors, which gave me the hope that he had the wherewithal to turn it around.

Last few months, even from a distance, have been amongst the most fun I've had as a Hibs fan.

Cant agree with that fella. The table doesnt lie, we wete quite awful, tactically inept, mistake laden week in week out. Im so pleased for the lads, fans and SDG that he turned things around in a quite astonishing ladt two thirds of the season. But we were very poor in that first third. Im sure SDG would be the first to affirm that.

Are you man enough to accept you got it wrong too?

Credit to the folk in charge at Hibs who have also learned from their mistakes.

We all hope we can build on this next season.

Absolutely happy to admit I got it wrong. Emotions were high at the time. There is no time to look back, it's all forward from here on it.

Good points. The way he conducted himself at the start of the season under the pressure of our results in his first post as manager is so impressive.

I think during the tough start aswell that recruitment was under such tight scrutiny that there was always the feeling the manager could only work with what he had been sent into the new season with, and any problems were bigger than him and lay further up the tree.

And to an extent the owners almost had no choice but to try and persevere with this one on the back of what had gone before. We actually put out a vote of confidence statement at the time.
