I think the maximum they were ahead of us at any point was 23 points and they'd played a game less than us at that point.

When they scored their 3rd at Easter Road on minute 90+5 they were heading 26 points ahead of us (having played a game less).

That's an impressive run for anyone outside the uglies and I think they were deserving of the plaudits they were getting at that time.

Cynically, I’d suggest that the GFA was determined to pile pressure on them after their good start just in case they were able to sustain it.

They took more points in their first 10 games than in the subsequent 28. If the rot had set in sooner they'd have been in the relegation frame.
