Two games to go and we are within touching distance of finishing 3rd in the SPFL. Not many leaving St. Mirren Park on the 4th August would have been confident in predicting that as a possible outcome given the poor display on the day.

Despite the 3-1 loss away to Champions Celtic, our position in 3rd place actually improved. St. Mirren were one of the teams that did us a favour, but the downside is that it means they have as much to play for as us. The draw against The Rangers and wins against Aberdeen and Dundee United means they are in contention for 4th place, if they beat us and Celtic.

St Mirren are the only SPFL team that we've not beaten this season, with two bad defeats and a poor 0-0 draw. However, the two defeats came before the huge improvement in our form. We should be travelling to St. Mirren Park with a positive mindset, looking to beat them to complete the 'set' and likely confirm finishing 3rd in the league. Let's keep the positivity flowing as the Hibees run out in front of a terrific away support. I am confident of a positive result.

We are in a fantastic position. I'm fairly relaxed about things now after Aberdeen's insipid performance at Ibrox yesterday.

Let's get it done and turn Saturday into a celebration of Sir Tom Farmer's life.

I think we’ll have third place secure by close of play on Wednesday, one way or the other. Hope we do the business ourselves and get it tied up that way though.

This is my thinking. Celtic to beat Aberdeen and we are third as our goal difference is massive.

St.Mirren need to win. If it ends up an open attacking game we will win as we have better players.

Although I'd love us to do it in style, Id take an atrocity to football scabby 1-0 that is officially declared the worst game in football history as long as we win the game and get third. Biggest week since we won the Scottish cup by a mile.

The last time we were in a situation similar was going up to Pittodrie knowing a win would seal third and we won 1-0 thanks to a rare doidge goal from outside the box.

I think the GD has secured us 3rd.

The OF should take care of Dundee Utd and Aberdeen.

We're due a win against St Mirren. Sort that out and we can properly enjoy Saturday.

I think the St Mirren game will end in a score draw and Celtic will beat Aberdeen .. job done .

Let's get in about them and win this match. Hopefully, Miller, Bowie and Cadden start, we need our best players on the field from the start (fitness permitting).

Even needing to win, I don’t think St Mirren will change much in how they approach it. We’ve struggled against them the last couple of seasons, Robinson as much as I dislike him, has had our number.

I just hope we remember to play football and don’t fall in to the same trap we did up at Aberdeen. Concentrate on that and we have a much better chance of winning the game IMO.

Dundee United are already done. They can’t (realistically)catch us with 2 games to go. 6 points and 20 goals behind us.

I think it’s good st Mirren have something to play for.

Pressures on them to win at home, means they will have to come out and attack.

Suits our shape well.

Bring them on

Agreed. I'd rather have us going for it in a high pressure game against opponents who have something to win and lose, than fannying about trying to figure out how best to play a team with nothing but pride to play for.

Go all out to win this. This then takes the worry out of having to get a result against the huns should Aberdeen beat Celtic and/or Dundee Utd.

But that's not there style. They are a counter attack team. That been said I can't see us losing either of our last two games. Aberdeen will lose tomorrow night. Third is already secured.

St.Mirren need to win the game, a draw isn’t really much use to them so they need to go for it at some point

I still think they’ll just play the way they normally do against us. It’s been pretty successful for them over the last couple of years when we play them. Unless you’re really late on in the game and it’s still level or whatever, I think it’ll be fairly standard stuff from them.

We are a good team and are good enough to win away midweek.

We do need to perform and be on the front foot and play to our strengths.

St Mirren are in good form and I think them coming out will actually help us with space behind.

Let’s get this done Hibs and earn 3rd place.

I think we have to ignore what other teams are doing. The Aberdeen game could go either way but they’ll be favourites against a very weakened Celtic team. An all out attempt for a win is the only way to approach this game. If we don’t turn up and get nothing from the game we’ve only ourselves to blame.

Win tonight and we are virtually assured 3rd due to a vastly superior Goal Difference even if Aberdeen win, barring Aberdeen pulling out a swing of more than 20 goals over the final 2 games.

I don't think anyone in this country are favourites against even an incredibly rotated celtic imo

Theoretically 2 draws for Saints, with United failing to collect any points over the final 2 games would get them 5th.

But realistically they are unlikely to get anything from Celtic at Parkhead on the day Celtic lift the trophy.

Tonight's the night to get it done. I certainly don't want to be going into Saturday needing to beat rangers. Because I have no confidence in Dundee United doing anything against Aberdeen

Aberdeen could win both games- at home to a depleted Celtic with nothing to play for, and against a Dundee United in free fall. (Equally, they could lose both).

I agree that we need to win tonight.

I can’t see Aberdeen winning at Tannadice on the last day.

Delighted as always to see this thread

About our 20th big game in a row.

Probably couldn’t be harder for us - team we’ve not beat this season, away from him and they’re in brilliant form.

Time to right a few wrongs, get a win and confirm third

C’mon the Hibees!
