Listening this afternoon, they had a guest called John Walker who does analysis for Scottish Academy level football, mentioned Hibs are "a bit behind" the likes of Celtic, Rangers and Hearts at this level, glad this self confessed Rangers supporter was pulled up by a few listeners for conveniently forgetting to say that Hibs had actually won the league last week!

He does analysis and didn't know Hibs had won the League. He's tailor made for BBC Radio.

I take it no one pointed this out to him?
Unlikely, in fairness. It’s not as if those fuds would know.

He came over as a total idiot imo. He actually bigged up the Killie Youth Team Cup win while dismissing the Hibs Dev Title win due to us playing against 14 year old.

It appears everything BBC Scotland do these days is very anti Hibs. They are riddled with Jambos so no surprise there.

I am sure our under 18 squad and management couldn’t care less what some numpty so called analyst spouts on our national broadcaster. They will be too busy polishing their champions medals and trophy

Not sure I can get too upset about some walloper - desperate to drum up interest in his business venture - trying to make a name for himself.
The young lads wont even have heard about this guy, let alone give a monkeys when the trophy is presented to them after the match against Aberdeen on Friday.

Tbf what our u18s are up to is nice but completely insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Still doesn't excuse the lack of basic knowledge though

Surely it’s significant if your job is to analyse academy level football?

I’m assuming he was talking about academies as a whole. The under-18s aren’t the be all and end all. So was he talking about all aspects of our set-up perhaps?

Yes, but the 18’s is the top end of the academy. If our under 18’s are winning leagues then the rest of the academy can’t be too bad you wouldn’t imagine?

He’s an analyst for “In-motion sports agency”. Looking at his profile, he’s a lover of the team in blue from down Ibrox way
He’s nothing to do with Scottish academy football

Sounds like a walloper, but its hardly anti Hibs bias from the BBC that the guest they got on hasn't doesn't his homework!

Tbh it’s possible we are being a bit touchy about all this. U18 football does depend on a few factors such as where the u18s sit in the club structure. For example if you have someone performing outstandingly at u18 do you leave him there or send him on loan or even put him in a first team squad. I’m sure those who run our academy are not sitting there saying they are the world’s greatest just because the u18s have been successful.

They get plenty right and plenty wrong….seems like people only get their knickers in a twist when it’s Hibs. Feels like some people just want Hibs bias content

I don't think anyone is "upset", just pointing out instances.
Whatever it "feels" like for you maybe just some are just after some impartial coverage, as we can all hear what they are actually partial too.
I personally think its pretty funny that they have skewed their programming the way the have. The more hubris from them the better it gets when it blows up in their face.

Fair enough. Personally I don't see why I should pay for media that I have no real influence over, particularly the media narrative. The endless threats of legal action don't exactly incentivize me to cough up either.

The BBC is arguably the most diverse media organisation in the world. And all that without having to pander to commercial advertising.
It's not perfect, but I'd be happy to pay what I do pay for the music content alone.
What media organisation, that you pay for, do you have influence over?

I'd pay it for Good Food and Bluey alone.
Add in Sounds, 6Music, BBC4 on a Saturday night and the iPlayer back catalogue and it's probably the best value for money subscription I have.

It is the amount or lack of Hibs content that annoys me. Combine that with the lack of knowledge. On the programme that the OP is discussing they were describing the Dundee Utd game on Wednesday as having no meaning. Surely anyone connected with Scottish Football realises there is a really good battle for European Places. It isn't unusual for them to spend 5 minutes based on something that is factually incorrect in teh first place and have zero content about Hibs. It is amateur hour at best and that would be fine if it wasn't a state broadcaster with essentially a monopoly position

None of them get a penny out of me. I respect other peoples positions on the matter. But my trust in the BBC and other media sources has been at an all time low since the early 2000's. Nothing i've seen from them since then has done anything to convince me otherwise.
I agree that the BBC offer some useful services. But I don't agree that they're the most diverse media organization in the world. I do however believe that they want to give the impression that they are in order to maximize their viewership, if only to exert their influence on that viewership.
Agree with this.
The BBC= the establishment, and that establishment has a rotten core.
The scandals over the years were enabled by the cozy little BBC ‘s boys club at its heart.
the BBC coverage of Scottish football is moronic at best and biased at worst, another boys club.

I watched the BBC programme on the Bradford fire yesterday - for me, that alone was worth this months £13.
I think the BBC is very good and well worth what I pay for it.

I agree - it’s far from perfect but in terms of quality, diversity, and quantity of content that the BBC produces, it’s unrivalled imho.

Are you saying that the agenda of the BBC is to make excellent programmes to attract an audience, and then influence them socially, morally and politically?
Who would you say is more diverse than them, in terms of their output?

Good summary. Their propaganda during the 2014 referendum has ensured that I will never fund those bandits.
Add in to that their biased coverage (this is an editorial stance, refuse to believe otherwise) of Scottish football and it’s a no brainer to bump their fee.
Horrible mob who use threats and intimidation to try and keep the £’s rolling in.
