I must have missed the logic to this. What was it?

They play Aberdeen midweek. If they're going to rest players then the midweek games make sense rather than games either side.

Surely in competitive sport you want to put a marker down against the one team (aberdeen) that stands between them & a treble
But the main thing for me is- beat St Mirren
That's what we can control

Not "ideal" but the players they bring in should still be of a calibre that would beat anyone in this league - in theory playing for their chance to be a part of the first XI going forward.
There's a few things worthy of keeping an eye on that are outwith our control (including today) but main focus has to be on us doing our bit which starts in Paisely on Wednesday.

Aberdeen have a days less rest between games so hopefully that comes into play.

Worth remembering that Celtic’s weakened team would likely include a player who would have been our record signing but for Celtic trumping us at the last minute in the summer.

True but if maeda, Kuhn are dropped for Forrest and Kenny for instance that is a big change in attacking dynamic in celtics play.
Just hope the Huns do the damage today and we beat st Mirren, I don’t think most fans could take having to go in to the last game needing something.
I just want to turn up with flip flops and a beach ball.

Might be mind games and they put out a full team midweek. Or put down a marker with a weakened team, that would really send a message.

Rangers played a reserve team against them and they still couldn't win with a 2 goal lead

Rodgers can do what he likes. He's the Celtic manager and all he cares about is Celtic.
I suppose he'll be thinking that not showing Aberdeen his strongest side prior to the cup final gives them a wee advantage. He'll also want to put on a show on the presentation day so will bring back a few starters for a run out them. The battle for 3rd won't even be on his radar and he doesn't owe us an explanation for his team selection, they got their work completed early so have the luxury of change.
We need to calm down about these changes as well. The team they put out against Aberdeen would still most likely win the league comfortably. It's not going to be the under 13s.

Absolutely. We need to do our job within the next week

If Rangers beat Aberdeen today then it shouldn't matter what Rodgers does. It would pile the pressure on Aberdeen with them needing 4 points from their final two games to get above us (and that's worst case scenario and assuming we lose our last two).
We remain in a fantastic position. Everything will be OK. Mon the Huns!

No matter what happens today it's all still in our own hands.
A Rangers win today and we have two opportunities to get it done.
As much as it feels nail-biting for us I don't think Aberdeen are good enough to get the points required - we might not need another point.

Remember as well, regardless of the starting 11 v Aberdeen, Rogers bench will be packed with quality.
Any time things are not working out for Celtic, hes not shy making 3 or more changes - and their players are auditioning for the cup final.
Aberdeen may get something today at Ibrox, but I dont see them getting anything on Wednesday.

Game also kicks off 15 minutes later than ours so great advantage for Aberdeen all round.

Not if we’re two up before they kick off

They were at home yesterday in front of their fans so makes sense to play strongest team. Easier to play weakened team away from home.
Sucks for us but we’ll cope.

Celtic will put out a decent team.
Don’t think there will be many if any in the starting line up that haven’t been regulars all season.
Johnson back in at right back, maybe McCowan starting in midfield. There won’t be any poor players in their starting eleven and will probably have a very strong bench.
Celtic will want to win as they won’t want to give Aberdeen an advantage before the final

And these players want to prove they are worth a start. I think they'll deal with Aberdeen no problem.

Completely agree with this, similar to folk complaining and spouting about sporting integrity when Liverpool changed the team and lost at Chelsea. The league is won so the respective managers can do what they please.

Do you think McCowan will get in the final starting team if he plays well against aberdeen in the league? It will of course be mcgregor hatate engels at hampden (barring injury) and he’ll know that as will Aberdeen
What we can hope for is the players brought in want to prove they can be counted on for next year

Players that come in have to perform well in any case. Which still translates as don't worry about it.
If they don't perform they get farmed out to us on loan!

McCowan , Kenny ,Bernardo , Forrest ,McArdle , Sinisalo, Hyun-Jun , Schlupp , Nawrocki these are the players that were on the bench for Celtic against us and most of them would probably walk into any non- OF team anyhow .
Even at 3-1 yesterday when they had the game won they were still looking to score more against us , must be a mentality thing that’s ingrained into them ..
Got no worries about Celtic rotating a few players as they’ll still be at least on a equal par with Aberdeens and there attitude is they want to win every game anyhow…
More worried about the game today as Sevco have lost 3 out of the last 5 home games and are more beatable than Celtic .

I’m more concerned about the game against the Huns today than their game against Celtic. There’s no telling what type of team will turn up and Aberdeen could very well walk away with three points. I’m more confident of even a weakened Celtic side doing the business.

We didn’t start our strongest XI yesterday presumably with our next game in mind either.
If we started our strongest XI away to Aberdeen we probably wouldn’t be worrying about what other teams are doing now.

What is it now, 7 home games in a row without a win for Rangers? That simply can't continue much longer. I'll think they'll win today.

Looks like Aberdeen are resting some players today Vs the Huns. Thought they would have went full strength if they wanted to catch us. Unless they are more interested in winning the final.

Probably not, but he'll want a medal. They all will, so they'll have to be on the bench at worst.
