They’ll do it either way. They are **** of the earth.

He's here!

It's a tough one bearing in mind the opposition. Perhaps Sir Tom's pic could be displayed ahead of the absent friends tribute and for next season's opening fixture we could officially name one of the stands after him.

If we did that we would be giving in to the sectarian bullies. We just need to be louder and drown them out.

SOL before the game. Thank you, thank you Sir Tom.

I never used to like the minutes applause, I always feel a silence is more dignified and respectful but I do see why for someone who has had a good, long life an applause may be appropriate.

I'm naturally disinclined to give in to bullies but in this instance I think it has to be an applause. It might be a good touch if we could get the old Hands off Hibs banner dug out and on display again. The club definitely have it in their possession so it is doable.

We now have a VERY good PA system. Maybe we can pump it in to the south west corner in the event that our visitors can’t behave.

He definitely deserves a send off, my preference would be our first home euro/league game of next season, i know these things usually happen quick in football for minutes silence or applause after a death, would just be sad for them to ruin it with boos or a rendition of hello hello or something.

I don’t think that they can do anything to ruin our respect, only their own.

Don't give them any tickets then........... Or lock them out time until K.O time........ :dunno:

It’s a shame we’re playing these *******s, but don’t let them spoil anything. Drown them out with thunderous applause and if they do attempt to ruin it withdraw their tickets for next season.

I'm pretty certain they're not going to be in the mood to stay silent after seeing the B7 handiwork on their way to the stadium.

It should be covered up by then.

I think the minutes applause would definitely be a better idea than the minutes silence as that vile lot will only disgrace themselves again.

Why when something like this happens is it always 'them' in our next home game...

Agreed but silence is almost impossible nowadays especially v the likes of the opposition

Minutes' applause and let it be known in writing to Rangers beforehand that any disruption by their supporters will result in no away tickets being allocated at the next fixture.

If we are so sure the knuckle dragging neanderthals are guaranteed to disrupt things then go with a minute's silence to show to the watching audience what a despicable lot they are. Don't try and hide it.

Totally agree.

If they are going to disrespect a tribute to STF they will do it whether it's a minutes applause or not .... so let's give them total silence and more rope with which to hang themselves. I wonder if they know STF was knighted by the Vatican as well as the British state :greengrin

It’s going to be a very somber mood prematch next week
A tribute to absent friends and then the STF applause or silence

Apparently the fan on the Bounce has removed it. If it goes up again then we can draw our own judgements as to how totally tone deaf those responsible are

If the club feels that a minutes silence is more appropriate, and I think it is, then that's what it should be regardless of the opposition.

I think is better to CELEBRATE someone's life than have a sombre silence so happy clap and give it the hibee roar!

It will Billy. Hopefully it ends with an emotional rendition of SOL to celebrate 3rd place, and more importantly Sir Tom

I think is better to CELEBRATE someone's life than have a sombre silence so happy clap and give it the hibee roar!

I think the applause is the appropriate way to go with this also, and not because of any concerns about disruptions. It’s about paying tribute in a manner that befits.

Pretty much every tribute I mark is in the confines of football stadiums, and through time the applause to celebrate the life of those who have passed has replaced the minutes silence.

It feels like the minutes silence is more aligned now with military commemorations, constitutional passings or tragedy’s with national importance.

For Tom Farmer, passing in his mid 80’s with the legacy of his intervention in 1990 and subsequent transformation of the club he leaves behind, a minutes applause to celebrate the life of a great man feels wholly appropriate.
