Surprised not to see a thread about this game yet.

How do we approach this?

Play our normal game? Attack them or park the bus as try and get a point? I wouldn't normally advocate going negative but a point at Celtic Park could be absolutely huge in us finish 3rd or not.

Huge call for SDG.

As soon as the fixtures came out you could see this was going to be their first home game as champions.

Makes it a tricky game to approach, the usual avoid early goals at all costs....unless they are for us :greengrin

4 visits to that place in one season. That's brutal.

I think celtic will cough up a surprising result between now and the cup final. It would nice if it was us rather than Aberdeen.

It's not that easy to maintain 100% focus and hunger when the league's in the bag. We beat them a couple of seasons ago after they had already won it, admittedly at Easter Road, and they were clearly 'off their game' a bit that night.

Who knows. Would certainly be a great time to claim a first win there in 15 years. But we seem to say that every time we go there.

Usually hate talking about a free hit but, after the results last week, it is. Worst case scenario, we finish the day still in third place.

I wouldn’t change, I’d go there and try to make some chances and see where that takes us. We hung in there in the cup tie but offered little going forward. We know from the game before that you can get chances against them.

We've played well there in all 3 games this season IMO

Strangely the one with the worst FT score of the lot (the 0-3 in the winter) was our best performance there in a long time, we created loads of chances and Schmeichel got MOTM

I'd be all for saying play our usual game - keep the midfield three of Levitt Triantis & Hoilett to keep possession, as Campbell isn't the right choice for starting there

I think we have a great chance to go to Celtic park and get something. A rare victory at Celtic Park along with a Rangers win on the Sunday would make Wednesday night in paisley all the more enjoyable without having to be too concerned about the result.

The Longbangers guys pointed out something about Rodgers saying his team was tired. Wouldn't it be excellent if they decided to blood some youngsters and play some 3rd place squad players?

If they do that and we play our game there's every chance we could take something from this.

I'd be over the moon with a point.

If there are any fitness doubts / players carrying knocks. I’d be keeping them back for the Wednesday game.

Of course we want to get a result

But I reckon gray will have a beady eye on Wednesday, maybe giving a rest to Triantis, Boyle, even iredale wouldn’t be such a bad thing.

Players coming in should want to grab the opportunity with both hands.

One thing is for sure is we will have to defend well against this lot .

I’m hoping Miller is back in for this one and I’d probably start Myko and Boyle upfront .

The midfield will be an interesting one in does Gray go with Hoilett or with more workrate and energy in Campbell?. Interestingly enough out of the seven times we have played the OF , Campbell has started five of them which might suggest that Gray could possibly go with Campbell again for this one .

I reckon Celtic will make quite a few changes against us and Aberdeen then go full strength last day when they get the trophy, sharpen them all up for the final a week later.

That would be crazy. Celtic are already stretched and Rodgers has said people are getting rested for the final so it’s our best chance of getting something there all season and would pretty much seal 3rd even if we get a point

I’d just treat it as any other game and play our best team. But Celtic being stretched still had them sitting with multiple players, bought for millions, on the bench on Sunday.

Last time we played them Cadden was injured early on and that made a massive difference.

If we get through this without any of our main players sustaining injuries, then we'll put up a decent challenge.

I think we’ll play Campbell and Nicky Cadden. Compete as best we can off the ball, but also gives us the best chance at set pieces.

For anybody driving:

BEAR Scotland is reminding motorists using the M8 eastbound this weekend to expect long delays and consider alternative routes during major resurfacing works between Junctions 5 and 4A.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to resurface 1.25 kilometres of carriageway near Polkemmet Country Park.
The M8 eastbound between Junctions 5 and 4A will be restricted to a single lane 24 hours a day for four days, from the morning of Saturday 10 May until the evening of Tuesday 13 May.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This section of the M8 eastbound is nearing the end of its serviceable life and it is essential that we replace the road surface now before it deteriorates.
“A 24-hour contraflow is necessary due to the depth of construction and to allow for sustainable construction techniques, including the recycling of hazardous material within the construction of the new road surface.
“Traffic modelling indicates estimated delays for eastbound traffic of over 45 minutes, so we’re warning road users to expect long delays and consider alternative routes.
“Those travelling east from the Glasgow area should consider the M80/M9 corridor as an alternative.
“We thank road users for their patience and understanding.”

Will be a tough game now doubt whoever starts for Celtic with there being talk of Rodgers resting players.

Done not to bad there this season, just no rewards, time to get something from this boys!

These games usually depend on how we start the game.

Celtic looked like they were on their holidays already on Sunday past and I'm sure even someone as reluctant to give youth a chance as Rodgers is will make a few changes to keep his starters fresh for the cup final.

It's probably as good a chance as any to take something through there, far more than if we were playing them on the trophy presentation day. However a Celtic 2nd string with one foot on the beach is still the best side in the league so it's going to be a tough game. I said on another thread last week that playing first this weekend is a real advantage for us, whatever happens there is pressure on Aberdeen on Sunday. We win and they really have to take something v Rangers, if we lose they have a real chance to equalise the points again which is a different pressure but pressure all the same.

I'd go with the same team that started Saturday past. For all but about 15 minutes of the 90 we looked as good as we have all season. We know the options from the bench such as Campbell and Bowie are more effective in that role currently so I don't see a huge need to tinker too much.

Not really - Aberdeen are going to a ground where the home team haven't won in 7 games and then play the same team you're suggesting we will get a point from...

Not outwith the realms of possibility Aberdeen take 4 points from the next two games and we take 1 or 0.

Likewise Aberdeen may also take zero. Let us hope so.

Have been overthinking the perms for the last few games, and wondered if Celtic had a view on who they'd prefer to finish 3rd in the league. Celtic have already won the league and CL qualification so can really choose how they approach the last 3 games - strongest squad right thru to playing kids. Their results against Hibs and Aberdeen could easily decide 3rd place.

If Aberdeen get 3rd, they're guaranteed group Euro football irrespective of the outcome of the Cup Final. If Hibs get 3rd, then the prize for Aberdeen beating Celtic in the CF is HUGE (Cup & Euro Group Football). Would Celtic have a preference as they go for the Treble ?

Have heard talk of resting players for this game to concentrate on the midweek game against St Mirren. We have 3 games remaining to secure 3rd spot, to just write-off one of those games to me seems mental. Plus, you can't just decide which games you fancy turning up in and which ones you don't. Full strength tomorrow and attempt to get some points against (hopefully) an under-strength Celtc side who are already on the beach.

Who is saying that?

The team won’t deviate much from what we’ve been using lately.

Gray has been very steady in his team selections and we’ll go there hoping to maintain our good run.

Haven’t seen that said but I agree we can’t write off games. It wouldn’t be a massive surprise if Aberdeen beat rangers this weekend and we lose to Celtic. That puts us back even again.

I hope Celtic are on their holidays and have one eye on the cup final. I fancy Aberdeen to get a result against them at Pittodrie so even a point would be massive tomorrow. Our dismal record there doesn't give me much hope though.

Still some bench to choose from though and it’s always a tough game through there. Saying that, 4-0 Hibs.

I'd say Celtic are a different team when they have Carter-Vickers, McGregor and Maeda on the pitch than if they don't

If I was Rogers I'd be keeping them in cotton wool for the cup final

I don't think we were great in the Scottish cup tie which could have also included Celtic stepping up their game in a key Scottish cup QF.

Would be a bonus for a weakened Celtic team and will be interesting for SDGs line up.

Would keep Hoillet in over Campbell, Miller or O'Hora? Think N.Cadden will come back in from the start, would keep Myko in the first 11 also.

The thing about it is whatever changes they make in putting in fringe players into their team , they are going to try and impress with a cup final coming up too .

I’d definitely put Miller in for O’Hora and start Myko too . I can see both sides of the argument for Campbell/ Hoilett to start . If Campbell were to start I’d probably go with Cadden for more creativity and if we go with Hoilett maybe Obita would give us more defensive cover?

They should make a compilation poster of these at the end of the season.
