A game bereft of quality last night, but with no lack of effort by both sides, topped off by a brilliant goal by ex Hibs player Jamie Murphy.

What absolutely stood out was the performance of the ref 'David Dickinson' .... in a game that was hard fought, but hardly dirty, he issued something like 10 yellow cards. On top of that he managed not only to get in the way of the ball, but at least twice stand in a position to stop a player making a run into the box.

Car crash of a performance by a guy who should be nowhere near top flight football.

What stood out for me was that this game was a perfect example as to why the top league should Not be expanded to 14 or 16 teams, quality was awful.

One game. Some of the championship games have been brilliant over last few seasons.

Two teams who couldn't get going because of a whistle and card happy referee.

Perhaps that the fact the top clubs in the Championship put on such a poor show underlines why the current set-uo isn't working?

Terrible advert for Scottish football. Scottish football is terrible.

Jamie Murphy, easily in my top 3 most disappointing signing at ER. Expected much more. Took his goal well last night.

You’d also assume their standard would improve if they had premier league money and were able to attract players to come and play in the premier league.

He is a brutal ref. Twice stopped promising attacks for us against Aberdeen by getting in the way of passes. One in particular was a great counter attack opportunity. I am sure we also had a game recently with him where the ball hit him twice!

The pitch was dreadful, definitely contributed to the pishness of the game.

Perhaps, but not for me, I'm old enough to remember an expanded league and games just like last night.
