It would be a big boast if we could get him back for the run in , quality player that would give us another good option upfront….

Gray has insisted, meanwhile, that the 26-year-old will NOT require weeks of training-ground work before being reintroduced to competitive football, explaining: “One thing Elie always does is he always works incredibly hard. So it's not as if he ever deconditions, as in worrying about him putting on loads of weight or anything like that.
Interesting!
Is this a physical issue or a mental issue?
Discuss!
It depends if he has been able to,do any kind of work. If he has not been doing any work since his injury, and remember it’s two since being day, he might still be. For but will not be fit for a prolonged period.

Yeah he has faked injury for 4 months to get a move in the summer.
Talk me through the logic behind that one.

I think the toys were out the pram last summer when he didn’t get his move.
He worked hard scored some goals for the winter window, didn’t happen.

Miracle stuff jesus would be proud of
Hopefully he has the same attitude he went into the January window with and can offer something off the bench to get us over the line

I don't get how not playing for 4 months will somehow improve his chances of a decent move.

If he's fit and in a position to contribute then it's a no brainer to have him on the bench.
I didn't think we would see him again so to have him available even as an impact sub would be a nice wee boost for 4 big games.

The summer transfer window isn’t important right now. We are in a battle for 3rd and have four difficult games to try and win, getting a player of Youan’s quality back surely is only a good thing.
He’s a bit of an enigma and can be frustrating at times, but is also a rare talent and I would really like to see him in action for us again.

Youans return is certainly a more exciting prospect than people moaning about a crowd of 19000+ against Dundee Utd..............Definitely . We`ve all enjoyed our great run of results but that doesn`t mean we haven`t missed the entertainment value of Youan . Obviously got doubts about whether he can make an impact immediately after long period without matches and can see why Gray might not want to change successful group but would love to see an on form Youan help us to 3rd .

Was listening to Steven Robinson talking on a podcast recently. He was saying one of his players had been out for 4 months with a broken toe. I've never seen a player celebrate like Ellie did at tynie then be out for months. I hope he's back. What an option🤞

Absolutely - a massive four games coming up and a returning Youan would be a welcome reinforcement up front

This
How anyone thinks that it's possible to play football at SPL level with a big toe injury is living in cloud cuckoo land. It takes months to recover and can also lead to imbalances that generate leg strains.

I don’t think he’ll be there tomorrow. Headline/article is more speculation than anything IMO.
We could do with the option as, other than Boyle, no forward has really shown any consistency.

Remains to be seen, but it's been a long list of 'could be ready' and 'thought he'd be ready' type updates on Elie that I'm not getting my hopes up.

I've got a feeling he'll contribute this afternoon. From what SDG said, it sounds like he's in good physical condition, so he must be desperate to get on to the pitch in such a vital game. Youan to get the winner today.

These final 4 games are massive and he’s a big game player.
Last minute winner would be sensational.

He has had no game time since coming on as a sub v Celtic in cup and you could see then he was going to need more time to get up to speed
So increasing time off the bench in next few games is best we can expect

Whatever is behind him not playing, whether it's an injury or something else, we clearly don't miss him.
Get some money for him in the summer and let both parties move on.

He would add another option though off bench. Of course we are doing well without him but he did play when we needed to improve too and helped with the away derby win etc. The flag waving will go down in Hibs history.
At the end of the day - good luck to him in the future - enjoyed watching him play - be interesting to see how his career moves forward. Hopefully still see him before end of the season though.

I've enjoyed watching him, but if SDG isn't playing him then I trust his judgement. I assume we lose him in the summer in which case I hope we get a good fee and that he gets the career he wants.

I don’t see us getting a good fee for him. I think he is working his ticket and will move on for a nominal fee. David Gray is being diplomatic and being economic with the truth in order to get the best price available for him. Of course, I might be way off the mark, in which case I’ll gladly ear humble pie. The bottom line tho’ is ‘we’re doing quite nicely without him, thank you’.

Agree, the potential good fee is gone. Shame, cause he's worth it when he's switched on. Great player.
Think the chat is St Gallen have a decent sell on fee as well so probably do well to break even on what we paid for him.

Has it crossed your mind that all our strikers are actually on ridiculously good form and Youan wasnt going to make the bench because Gayle is a better option, Boyle and Myko are scoring and contributing and other players in deeper wide positions like Hoilet are also playing too well to drop?
Honestly, the weekly Youan gripes when we’re winning is just peculiar now.

It's not a gripe, I don't wish the guy any ill and if he plays for us again he'll get my backing.
But I can't believe the number of folk who won't accept that there may be more going on here than a mysterious toe injury that's taken months to heal and doesn't seem to have a firm date for when it will be gone...

Ive said already that there could be stuff going on in his private life or with his mental health that might make all the speculation a bit classless. But at the end of the day other players are getting picked, they’re performing fine and thats good enough for me.

He's not playing for a reason. If it was just because he didn't fancy it then I'd expect Gray to let us know, subtly of course. Thinking back I think Gray did express a wee bit frustration early on in a press conference but since then he has been full of praise and supportive on the occasions he has mentioned him which suggests Gray is happy with what Youan is doing and the manager is better positioned to make a call than anyone else.
His injury might be worse than many seem to want to accept. Maybe he's mentally not in the right place right now. Maybe Gray just feels the match day squad is harmonious and covers all the bases and doesn't want to bring in another influence. When was the last time Kwon featured? Or Rudi? Manneh has been on the bench but there has been no chance to give him any meaningful minutes so far because everything is fairly settled.
As I said a couple of weeks back I don't think we'll see him again before the end of the season which probably means we won't see him play for Hibs again. He's been an entertaining player for us, a bit of an enigma really and I don't think there is masses of untapped potential there, with his age and experience now I think what you see is what you get and I expect his career will truck along sideways from Hibs rather than skyrocketing. I don't wish him any ill will and I don't think he's in any way 'at it' now.

Think he’ll replace Manneh on the bench. Already have NMW and Campbell (or Hoilett if Campbell starts) that would come on before Manneh.

I trust Gray's judgement on wither Youan should make the squad or not . Personally think he’d be a good option from the bench…

Myko, Boyle, Gayle, all playing well and contributing recently. Campbell and Hoilett too in the slightly withdrawn positions Elie used to occupy sometimes too. The ridiculous form of key players who’ve grabbed the chance while Elie’s been unfit means that he’ll have to have been absolutely flying in training to get near the bench. Im hoping he is.

Know a boy that missed nearly a whole season with a toe injury, albeit at lowland league level not Premier. Wasn't broken, everytime he thought he was back fit it'd flare up and given your toes are pretty important in this sport, he couldn't get back playing.
Turned out to be a tendon issue in his foot that kept flaring up as it wasn't dealt with properly.
We don't know what's happened to Elie, but Gray has been nothing but positive about him and has given no hints to Elie throwing toys out the pram, yet reading some comments on here you'd think he'd been on socials bragging about not playing.

I'm convinced that there are people on this thread who know far more about Youan, his skill levels, fitness, attitude etc than Gray and his coaching staff, and I'm genuinely gobsmacked that Hibs don't use this wide range of insider knowledge and deep intuitive insight in assessing the player's suitability for team selection.
Once more we shoot ourselves in the foot.
