Giving their lack of "identity" shouts, it's got me thinking about our own season. We had a disappointing start, I was critical of the club as were many others at the time. Yesterday's defeat to Aberdeen was a blow, but one I'm sure we will bounce back from it and secure 3rd.

Despite our good run and current position, I do think this is a massive summer for us both on and off the park. Our recruitment last summer was passable, despite dragging our heels only to lose out on McGowan. January we managed to offload a few and brought in Menneh, who has yet to be judged. McGrath on a free.

The change in system brought the much needed reset after the defeat to Dundee. Surprisingly, our out of contract, loan and fringe players all stepped up and took their opportunities. Credit when credit is due, because there was 2012 and 2014 we were in a similar scenario and we all know how that panned out. Gray and the staff have turned it around so well, and the club didn't panic either when we were rock bottom.

What I am getting at is what we have achieved with this current group of players has been positive. That said, there is still room for improvement. I feel the club is going in the right direction towards it. I've said before losing the likes of Bushiri would be a loss, but not the end of the world. This summer is a chance for us to recruit, improve areas outwith the squad and hopefully evolve us further as a club.

From where we’ve been, it would be a hammer blow not to finish 3rd. We need to take opportunities like this and not think “oh well we were bottom in December”.

The rewards available for achieving 3rd (assuming Celtic win the cup) don’t/won’t come around too often and would bring back that feel good factor similar to the cup win IMO in terms of excitement, interest and attendances. Yesterday’s result has just blown everything open again which is frustrating.

It's a strange end of the season now.

If in December you had said to anyone that we would be in contention for 3rd with 4 games to go they would have bitten your hand off. Now we are so close if didn't get 3rd it would be disappointing. Of course with retrospect and in time you might say it was still a positive season (and it would have been) but with what is on offer and the position we are in we really should be finishing 3rd. We are the best team in the race, not by much but we are.

I said it the other day it's a bit like when you lose in a cup final. Of course getting there is better than getting horses out in the 1st round but it's still disappointing if you don't win it and especially so if you are the best place team to win it.

I think we'll do it and if we don't it won't be because of bottle or anything else. It will be a bad start allied to another team deserving it more. The table might lie at some points but come the end of May everyone ends up exactly where they deserve to be. Hopefully for us that is 3rd and I believe it will be. We are god enough to do it.

Also my take as well. Yes, you can look back at where we were in December and go ‘we’ve come so far’, which we have and what SDG has done and the players has been exceptional. However, we are now 3rd with 4 games to go up against, the weakest Rangers team in years, a Dundee United team who are reliant on their striker and a very hot and cold Aberdeen team. This is our best chance in years to finish 3rd given the circumstances and to lose out on it would be disappointing, especially with group football and millions of £ at stake.

This being the last opportunity of guaranteed group stage European football, for the foreseeable future, adds to the importance of where we find ourselves.

As you say, I don't want hard luck stories, we've got ourselves into a position where we are now the favourites, so let's complete the job.

The significance of the opportunity should not be lost on anyone. It’s a huge few weeks, I will be gutted if we don’t take the opportunity we have given ourselves. It’s not going to be there again any time soon.

Getting in to the split in 3rd is a huge success. More so if you take it from the point of being in a relegation scrap.

From the start of the split though, the target has to be 3rd. Anything less is a failure.

Missing out on 3rd now would be extremely disappointing. Its taken a historic run of form to even be in the mix and we’ve dropped so many stupid points this season too, really frustrating looking back on some of them.

Have to look forward.

Fill Easter Road and just beat Utd any way possible and see where we are.

Whatever happens in summer we need to push on - we have been here before and not taken advantage of a positive season - key is consistency and that will grow the club / Fanbase / improve our final league placing.

Getting into Europe would be a stretch but it would be brilliant for the club to be seen on that stage.

There's no guarantees as to where we finish.

All we can expect now is that the players and manager do their utmost to finish as high up the table as possible.

I want us to finish 3rd just as much as anybody else but I'm not going to hold it against them if they try their hardest but finish in 4th/5th.

One game at a time.

As a club I just want to see us kick on and see a step up in our ambitions. In my opinion the current squad is good, but there is still room for improvement particularly in the middle of the park and upfront. I feel in recent years (even pre Gordons) the club became too sentimental, coupled with questionable recruitment processes prevented us from maintaining any consistency.

This season has shown us preserving can pay off, especially if you compare our seasons to theirs. That said, they are a completely different structure and are often financially blackmailed by their FOH cretins threatening to pull the plug. We have been guilty of pulling the trigger in recent years, regardless if it was right or not. It's good to see they didn't leave Gray/coaching team and players hung out to dry and gave them the time and support.

Hopefully lessons are learnt from these previous seasons and it's a clean slate in the summer with more efficiency in recruitment, structure and progression. Regardless if we get 3rd or not it's an exciting time for the club and supporters.
