It's 3rd placed Hibernian FC away to 5th placed Aberdeen tomorrow in another important game. Looking at the stats, it's easy to be positive:

Hibernian FC have equalled a club record unbeaten league streak of 17 matches - set in 1948 - and consolidate third place in the Scottish Premiership.
Aberdeen have won just one of their last nine league meetings with Hibernian (D3 L5), a 4-0 victory for the Dons in May 2024.
Hibernian FC have won each of our last three league games, all by at least two goals. Hibernian FC last won four in a row by 2+ goals in the top-flight in February 2008 – a run which included a 3-1 win over Aberdeen.
Hibernian FC have kept a clean sheet in each of our last three games in the Premiership, a run of 304 minutes without conceding a goal, whilst scoring nine goals in the process.

IMO this is the best set-up team that I've watched for many a year. The set-up looks solid with the three at the back, allowing the two wing backs to focus on the challenge each game poses (attacking versus St Johnstone & Dundee, whilst defensive versus The Rangers). In midfield, Triantis and Levitt are a very effective pairing, with a hard-working front three of Hoilett, Boyle and either Kuharevich or Bowie. Then from the bench, we've got reliable back-up. Smith, in goals, has been excellent and I've been very impressed with him. I imagine it'll be the same time that started against Dundee again tomorrow.

It's going to be another challenging and difficult game, but backed by a noisy away support I'm confident that we'll get another positive result. Let's keep the positivity flowing!

If Celtic beat United a draw at Pittodrie will do us just fine, but we're good enough to win this.

In our meetings this season Hibs have scored 8 goals to their 4 . We have had six different scorers in Boyle , N.Cadden*
, Triantis , Newell , Youan and Rocky .

* Nicky Cadden has scored in all three meetings between the clubs so far this season and I’m predicting he will make it four in a row .

Our last meeting at Pittodrie …

Delighted to see this thread

A draw or win tomorrow creates an all time record for runs without a defeat

Aberdeen will be desperate to not let that happen, but more so for them to go level on points with us

C’mon the Hibees

That second Aberdeen goal just summed up how fragile we were then, even the 3rd when Nicky Cadden didn't seem to want to foul the guy so he got past, you feel now he would just put him into stand, or win with a slide tackle and then roar back up the pitch and create a goal scoring opportunity :-)

Also interesting to see Youan and Newell being very influential in lots of the highlights there.

Like most people I suspect I came out the ground in a bit of a high, but then came down and thought **** we are still in trouble, who would ever have predicted the last few every enjoyable months !

I don't think enough is made of Rocky's deft wee lay-off for Ellie to cross in for the 3rd.

Being as fragile as we were was possibly partly down to confidence being low . We had a few late goals against that were like a kick in the stones but even though it was only a drawer it felt like a win and definitely sparked something off within the team thankfully.

I think Youan and Newell had good games , might be wrong but thought maybe Youan got MotM ? 🤔

I mean, he absolutely sclaffs his finish for the goal, but it went in and that's all that matters!

Aye his layoff for Boyle's v der hun was quality as well. As was his goal v Dundee.

The boys should be quietly confident they can bring back 3 points.

The pressure is on Aberdeen to win. Hibs could probably afford a draw but I think we are playing so well we can win away again.

We have quality all over the pitch and on the bench with various options.

It won’t be an easy game but we have players who can hurt them and Aberdeen were lucky Hearts went down to 9 men last week.

Hopefully all those who are attending give the team great vocal support like last away game we played them.

Let’s do this Hibs - set a new record and get closer to finishing top 3.

In doing so, we will at least remain three points ahead of the sheep, ideally though, we’ll be six clear.

Really? I can help … in our unbeaten run, what happened was, we didn’t lose. What happened was, we won some, and we drew some. Contrary to your post, we actually beat some of the best, and drew with some of the best. But … the crucial bit you missed out on, was .. we didn’t lose to the best … or even hearts 🥰

You just feel like this team embraces the pressure and looks forward to stepping up to the occasion. Just hope the break hasn’t dimmed the momentum we had built up, not the 17 game run but specifically the 3 previous games. We were scoring for fun and not conceding and had excellent control in all of the games. Let’s hope we carry that into today!!

If it turns in to a gun slinging contest we win.
if it’s a battle - with out resilience and Shinnies fading we should edge it.

If it’s close could well be down to the ref and VAR.

This game is nothing like the cup final, important yes but we have further chances after this. At worst we have to match Dundee United and Aberdeen's results between now and the end of the season

Win today and it’s 95% job done. It might not have the same lasting memory’s as a league cup win, but 3rd place, especially with it being the last season of guaranteed group stage football, is bigger for the club and its future success.

I of course won’t compare it to a SC win.

Sadly, that's the 18-game unbeaten league run since the positivity threads started prior to the three nil game away to Motherwell (I intentionally missed Celtic away immediately after the Motherwell game). When we fought back twice in injury time to rescue a point against the Dons at Easter Road in November, I saw enough to convince me to be positive that we'll get out of the relegation slots. At no stage, did I think that 3rd position in the league was possible.

Whilst the defeat yesterday was a sore one, I still saw enough to remain positive. It took an exceptional goal to defeat us. As many have stated, we were collectively below recent standards, but I'm convinced that we can rectify that at Easter Road against Dundee United. It's often said that you learn more from failure than from success. So, I expect that SDG and his backroom staff will learn from yesterday's defeat and will look to correct these against United.

Still so many reasons to be positive.

The team need to refocus for the final 4 games but basically just the next game.

Go again and get 3 points - keep the pressure on Aberdeen.

St Mirren have beaten Aberdeen last 4 out of 5 games.

It wasn’t our worst performance of the season by any stretch.

A game that looked destined for stalemate unless a moment of quality presented itself, and unfortunately for us it was Nisbet who provided it.

I’m confident for the remaining games, and it’s going to be tight for a week longer than it might have been, but it’s one we are well equipped for. I’m not envisioning a complete unraveling.

There is a very tiny part of me happy we didn't beat the record of the league-winning 1947/48 team. Different era etc etc, but in terms of achievement, quality of squad, competition at the time, it's hard to think of them being "bettered" by our current team.

That said, the bigger (97%) part of me is gutted. But like others here, I remain positive not least because Aberdeen look quite s hite...

Still so many reasons to be positive. We have won each of our last six home league games, our longest run in the Scottish Premiership since winning seven in succession under Neil Lennon.

In our last 12 games, we're top of the form table with 27 points (8 wins, 3 draws, 1 defeat) compared to Dundee United's 16 points (5 wins, 1 draw, 6 defeats). That said, it will be a tough game against a team who have done well in recent games at Easter Road, albeit needing a fortuitous VAR decision to go their way to salvage a draw.

Tomorrow will be a huge test for the Hibees. We've done so well to go 18 games unbeaten, but that's now in the past. I hope that as the Hibees run onto the pitch at a packed Easter Road we keep the positivity flowing.
