Barring an unlikely end to the season I think we can safely say we are back in Europe.
Given where we were in November, what a fantastic achievement by David Gray and the lads.
Well done all

Considering it was catastophising talk of inevitable relegation only 5 months ago, don't think I've ever seen such a same season turn around in all my years of following Hibs.

Let's push on and get 3rd and the riches it will likely bring!

Yup, well done to all involved, hopefully we get a kinder draw than when we got Aston Villa.

This site worth keeping an eye on to see potential opponents. Feel like I can say that now without worrying about tempting fate.

It's been an exciting four months or so for sure and much more exciting end to the season than in recent years, guaranteed Euro Group football would be vital for the club on and off the pitch.

Who could we potentially get for the Europa League play-offs if that is the final scenario?

Still a bit to do yet. I wouldn’t be posting stuff like this just yet. “Europe” isn’t our goal - group stage football is. For me at least.

:agree: at this point group stage has to be the goal.

Surely we need nine points before we can consider ourselves arithmetically safe in third?

That means beating the Buddies, Arabs and Sheep - two of which are away matches.

Correct. Considering where we are, our form and the atmosphere around the club, finishing 4th or 5th would leave a sour taste. 3rd is the aim.

hibs can still get 2nd if the huns lose all their games and hibs win all their games we get 2nd

Absolute worst case scenario (5th place) would get us the Conference League second qualifying round, which would be three ties from the group stage.

Next would be Europa League 2nd qualifier - three ties from the group again, but losing any of these would drop us down to the next round of the Conference so we only actually need to win two.

The grand prize is the EL playoff round which of course guarantees us group stage football.

Don’t agree. It is a remarkable achievement regardless of where we finish.

We can still celebrate getting European football while hoping to get third place and the riches that will probably come with it. It’s not a one or the other option.

For European football?

St Mirren would need to win all 5 games and we would have to lose all 5z

I don’t think it’s taking anything for granted to be absolutely certain those things won’t happen.

Where we are currently, and based on the fantastic run we are on, not finishing third would be a bit of a disappointing end to the season imo. I agree that the turnaround from where we were has been remarkable. But lets finish the job now in the next few weeks.

I think most people will agree with that.

We can still be delighted that we’re back into Europe whilst hoping we can hang onto third though.

Yes .. and not just hang on to it, but deservedly win third place. We’ve got this guys, and whatever happens … we have progressed massively this season, and will free up more cash in wages of some others this summer I think … and make room for - hopefully - more good players .. all good 💚💚

There was a time we were shocked when we were not in Europe, we took
It for granted. Let’s hope these days are around the corner once again.

No, 3rd place. Delighted to be in the top 6 and for European football again. I was specifically talking about 3rd though. Group stage (if Celtc win the cup) would be absolutely epic.

So am I correct in saying : If Aberdeen lose the cup final then 4th place is a europa league qualifier at 2nd round stage , but lose that and we drop down to conference league? At next stage?

If so and we win 2 rounds of europa qualifiers then we would enter conference group stage , cos we would have lost the europa league play off round

I would be gutted if we don't finish third or somehow Aberdeen win the cup.

The prize for group stage football until Christmas, in our 150th year, is enormous.

UEFA phanny about with the European competitions all the time, so not sure when we will get as close again in future years.

If Aberdeen win cup and Hibs finish 3rd it's EL 2nd round.

If lose parachute into ECL Q3. and finally a play off after that for the group stages.

The Demoted League qualifying round and if they lose that they drop into the Cheated by the Ref league.

Okay , but say we end up with Europa league 2 round qualifier, and win either a game or 2 at Europa qualifying, would we still drop down if we lost say Europa play off round? Would we drop into conference league group stage?

We should go into all the five games with total confidence and look to embedding ourselves in 3rd.

losing in the EL play off results in ECL group. Or losing in EL Q3 means an ECL play off round needs won before the groups. I think? 😅

Given what we've seen from the team, and from Gray, over the last few months, I think that's exactly how they'll approach it.

Thank you. That’s exactly what I was saying. If I was feeling bad tempered I could have said that some people who called for David Gray and many of the players to be dumped are now talking of being upset and disappointed if the same guys don’t get us third place.
