Do we need to do something about seats/tickets in the east? Officially sold out but loads of empty seats everywhere which I think hinders atmosphere. I appreciate it is Easter holiday season but maybe we need an easy process for ST holders to release their seats?

Easter holidays for school. Never going to be full.

Most clubs have around 10% of season tickets not turning up due to hols etc. I miss at least 5:6 games a season for all sorts of reasons. But I would not give up my season ticket.

There's a seat release option for sell out games where the club give some money back (as a credit for next year) to the ST holder.

In theory that would only have worked yesterday if the outgoings didn't exceed the extra cost of splitting the South stand but not sure that would be the case...

Obviously the alternative is to have a release option with no incentive... I'm not sure how good the uptake would be though. If nothing else, had there been a last minute change in plans and I was suddenly able to attend yesterday I'd have felt like a bit of a mug having given my seat away for free in the days previous.

Think we need to push the seat release option before being so quick to open the south. I’d rather have 3 packed stands and nobody in the south than what we had today.

Did it really hinder the atmosphere yesterday? Sounded fine from where I sit

Would prefer to have Hibs fans on all 4 sides of the ground like today.

Thought the atmosphere was good at the game and watch games on TV and empty seats all over due to holidays etc.

I really hope for the final home games we fully sell out though.

I’ve been to stadiums where every seat is full and atmosphere is crap.

It’s who turns up makes the atmosphere and yesterday was good from block 7 and others.

I think we need to make it easier and give more an incentive. I bet there is a good number of seasons ticket holders who wouldn't even know how to do it. Even though it's really only a few clicks on the website. If I ever can't make a game which is extremely rare I always pass my ticket on to someone else free of charge.

I think its like trying to reinvent the wheel to be honest. Stadiums throughout the Uk and beyond have empty seats that are visible on tv, celtic v Kilmarnock on Saturday was an example.

A 6000 seater stand with a smattering of empty seats would be difficult to police due to folk deciding not to attend at last minute, theres not a lot the club can do in that instance if folk just cant make it or choose not to go for one reason or another.

I totally get that, I was 50/50 right up until a couple of hours before myself yesterday but if the seat release scheme worked well a ST could get another seat if they have given theirs up. It would need to automated as ticket office would not have the capacity. Great to have these problems 😀

This not having a go at ST people not going, like someone has already said would prefer 4 packed stands with hibees but would like 3 rammed stands first before needing to go into the fourth. How many in the south stand would have preferred being in the other stands yesterday, from the empty seats I saw in the east it could have easily accommodate who was in the south. Great problem to have as I have said.

no big deal if you ask me. Getting home fans in the south stand looks so much better than having it empty.

:agree:

There's no point in a seat release until all available seats in the South sell out.

There were expected spaces in the East where ST holders would normally sit. Getting those tickets in the South sold regularly would only improve things. The 4 sides improved things in my opinion and the wee gaps didn't denigrate it. A bollock under 18000 bums on seats yesterday. Great effort.

There should be an option for home fans in the south every time we play at Easter Road. Anything looks better than it sitting basically empty bar a pocket of away fans sometimes not filling even a quarter of the stand

It's an option now when we are getting bigger crowds but when that's not happening opening it up would be hard to justify cost wise.

18000 was the number of seats sold, not the attendance.

Newspapers etc should state this, rather than continue to quote the attendance. Imo it is lazy journalism.

Journalists quote the figures supplied by the clubs.

It's probably marginally behind one of the barriers at the exits.

It's not restricted like Parkhead, that's for sure !

I think you are right, the picture it shows as view from seat has an exit in view in it, its def not the actual view from the seat though which gave me the fear a bit

It'll be the handrails where the stairs come out into the stand. Not a huge deal, they are fairly thin railings so you're only slightly restricted and a wee move of the head will let you see everything.

It’s absolutely the handrails. Can’t really see the left corner flag from my seat.

Emailed the club about it as my season ticket is ‘gold’. Said they don’t offer any restricted view discounts and I should look into changing seats.

Strangely rude from what is usually a great team.

I don’t get this worrying about empty seats that have already been paid for. There are various reasons why people do no turn up for any given game. That is what is called life. From my view in the west it was only a few hundred seats at a maximum that were empty. Surely those empty seats would make for a quicker exit from the stadium for those fans who are complaining about the time it takes to get out. Surely a win win.

No. I couldn’t make it neither could my son due to a wedding. Seat release only opens for sell outs. I couldn’t give my tickets away for the match. It’s not an issue.

On average ST holders probably miss 2 games a season, roughly 10% of games. So if the East Stand is sold out (6,000) there'll usually be 5,400 in there. With opening the South an option for games like Dundee, they're only going to do resales for Hearts, and maybe our last 2 home games if there's enough demand.

Thank you for this, I didn't notice those railings when I was looking but cant see that being in issue, I bought them anyway and all set for next year.
