Why mako is starting over Bowie is a mystery .
It's working though as a team selction from Gray. Bowie might still be struggling to do more than a half at full intensity. Myko is doing a job when out there, just the goals haven't come for him sadly.

See the thing Gray does is keep it simple. People in their correct position not like Monty or Johnson trying to fill in round holes with square pegs, a bit like what Critchely’s trying to do over the road.

No real shout for it but from the free kick the defender had Miller in a choke hold when he was trying to challenge for the ball. He claimed for it but no one else did.
Irrelevant now as Gayle makes it 3.

The difference between the two sides from then to now is mental. They weren't exactly flying when we played them but they were a shout for top 6 at that point. They look horrendous at the back and while normally a good attacking threat they've been controlled all day today.

One of the most enjoyable ER games in a long time, with lots of pressure and expectation. And Hibs delivered in style. Rare days indeed.
How good is Iredale ? What a signing he's been.
Bowie is a killer and will make us a ton of money someday.
Completely agree with all of that. And a shout out for SDG too … he has our players looking up with the ball at feet, and other players moving into space to give them options. Sounds simple I always think, but hard to execute. So good to be a Hibbie at the moment !

Brilliant from Hibs today, that game was massive - with United winning and Aberdeen dropping points, all the pressure was on us to deliver today, and the players stepped up superbly.
Aside from the four very good goals, we almost scored a few others that would have been very good goals as well.
Rocky marshalled the defence superbly and I thought Iredale and Miller on either side of him put in brilliant performances.
Triantis and Levitt strolled it, Chris Cadden was superb, and while they didn’t get the rewards, Boyle and Myko certainly put a shift in.
What an impact the subs had, though! Brilliant.
I’m buzzing after that. I’ve got the podcast to do at 8pm and I can’t wait to talk about what this team have done.

David Gray had a good day. A very good day.
Could be argued that the team picked itself but he resisted any temptation to mess with a winning team.
Then I thought the subs were the right ones at the right times. The first ones came when we were getting a bit tired and had started to look slightly vulnerable having not got a second goal. Those subs re-energised the team and the we got the second goal almost immediately.
All the subs contributed strongly.
The work rate of this team also really impresses me. We had a wee chuckle at Barry Ferguson’s anger last weekend but we showed outstanding graft today and desire to win the game. The players deserve most credit for this but so does Gray.

Went under the radar a bit, IMO, but our performance levels have really improved in the last few weeks. We had a spell where we were digging results out, but we’ve played a lot more football in the last few games, coinciding with Levitt and Hoilett coming back in.
Opposition was poor today but we were superb, with and without the ball.

I think we’re making opposition look poor right now.
Dundee had some handy players, players I’ve seen give Celtic and Rangers a tough time. We managed to keep dangerous players relatively quiet, prevented them from getting anything when they had their better spells in the game and then got what we needed and then some at the other end.
I thought the same against St Johnstone - we made them look poor.
This is an excellent Hibs team.

One thing that typified this squad - last minutes, Dundee hit post and rebounds. Last season our defenders would have been ball watching, this season we have the likes of Iredale (yet again a top performance) who is alert and ready to get there first and get that clean sheet. And celebrates it like a goal.

Not trying to take away from us, as I say I thought we were superb. They are a poor side though, the number of goals they lose is the real sign of a poor side for me. I just thought that we were too powerful for them, on and off the ball. Physically, we look as strong as I’ve seen a Hibs team look in a very long time.
I thought today might have been our best performance of the season. Could easily have been 3 - 0 up in the first half. I would have given Miller man of the match but there were plenty of contenders.

What a spirit there is in this team…goalie has made one mistake in the game when he put Iredale in trouble. Iredale did well to get across Murray, but his team mates helped him out and closed Murray down as well by quickly covering the potential danger.

It’s incredible how good we have become and I just love this team.
Great characters - players who don’t get bullied - look stronger - fitter and generally better footballers than anyone they come up against.
The goals today were unreal - fans were great and I seriously encourage anyone who hasn’t been to Easter Road for a while to get to a a game soon and support the boys.

This is exactly what a Hibs team should play like and I really hope this continues for many a year to come.

I was thinking this at the game today. We are really exciting when we break and can do it out of nothing. As well-balanced a team I’ve seen since the Mowbray era. Although the midfield of SJM, Scott Allan and Dylan McG was something else too mind you.

I know it’s been done to death… but I was quite taken aback at quite how many empty seats there were in a supposedly sold out East (I was in the West today).
Surely there can’t be that many supporters who have season tickets but won’t turn up to a big game like that to watch a team playing so well on a lovely day?

Some people would just be getting back from holidays that will be one factor and it’s regularly been reported on here that at any game there will be up to 1 thousand season ticket holders that can’t attend for one reason or another
But I was also in the west and it was obvious but even around me there were around 8 empty seats

I won't pick a MOM because everybody was at least a 7. We played with pace and intent going forward and hunted the ball down when we lost it ..... a fantastic team performance in all areas of the pitch.
I still don't think Dundee are that bad a team, they simply couldn't live with us and I doubt any team bar Celtic would have looked much better against that performance today.
I was so chuffed for Bowie, he has looked a wee bit off it in his last few appearances, but wow did he show what he can bring to the table today, two great finishes and an assist. It's scary to think what this lad could become when fully fit with a full pre season under his belt, if he can make the most of what looks like undoubted ability he is going to blow this clubs transfer fee record out of the water at some point.
If Hibs want folk to buy season tickets .... that's the way to get them to do it :top marks

Looking at that, it’s unbelievable how much things have turned round defensively. Only 3 goals lost in 6 games. In the last few games, I can hardly remember Smith even making a save. The team are working so hard in front of him just now. There was one yesterday where they went to break away and 3 Hibs players were after the boy with the ball, won it back and we ended up nearly scoring.

There was all sorts of talk on the highlights show about how rocky ‘was left unmarked’ :dunno:
There was a defender virtually in his shirt. It was just a neat improvised volley that Rocky should get credit for. Sometimes i think pundits always want to blame a defensive mistake because they think it makes them be Alan Hansen.

Apparently if you concede more than you score it goes down as something called a “loss” and you don’t get any points. Sounds weird to me tbh. Don’t know why teams would want that, surprised there’s not more teams that have taken our approach and just decided not to lose.

It was a really good finish from Rocky. I got what they were saying about the marking on Sportscene though, the boy was standing on the wrong side of him and didn’t actually do anything. Could see yesterday why Dundee have lost the most goals in the league but our finishing was clinical, as good as it’s been this season.

Ahh I was thinking it was maybe for red cards but this losing theory sounds a bit rubbish.
If what you're saying is true then that would mean you wouldn't win any derbies for example? Or you would run the risk of finishing in the lower end of the table, lets call it the bottom 6 for arguments sake?
