After watching the episode on our game against Sevco , hertz v Dundee Utd etc here .

Stewart sort of admitting he’s wrong and then backtracking in saying it could have been a yellow card :rolleyes.

I just don’t believe that Kevin Thompson is in any way a Hibs fan , always comes across as a total hun to me .

I normally think Hutton is fair enough at times but disagree with him about Obita’s pass to Boyle in I think he did mean it….

As it is Obita's pass was deliberate insomuch as it was intended to give Boyle and Bowie something to chase, but if it was meant for Martin Boyle it wasn't very well hit, it was only Boyle's pace and his Sticky Bun markers sleeping that made it a good one.

I'm absolutely sure Jordan Obita couldn't give a rats arse about other folk's opinions of it ... he still walked away from the game with an assist :greengrin

For what it is worth I don't think Obita intended to execute the pass the way he did. I thought it was meant to be a elevated ball to Boyle. But what ever. I think it was intended for Boyle and Boyle got on the end of it. Makes no difference either way it was a goal and 3pts in the bag. Lets move on

There is no way Obita meant the pass exactly the way it panned out. I think Matty etc on Longbangers summed it up well in that he's maybe meant to put it over the top of Souttar's head and not caught it as cleanly as he'd like.

I think when you see the highlights you can see Obita looking up before he drilled it forward, maybe he didn’t hit as cleanly as he might have wanted too but the intent was there to play it forward . Is it possible he seen Boyle start to move before playing it? Either way I’m giving Obita the benefit of the of the doubt in he meant it :greengrin

He's meant to hit it over Souttar to Boyle, but ended up playing an even better pass by mistake.

That’s fair enough . We will of course never know now but I suppose it’s possible the ball could have landed in the same area for Boyle even if he had hit it over Souttar too . I don’t think Souttar knew were Boyle was when it was played either.

I think it is telling in I think he spots Boyle going to make the run and goes to make the pass , wither he hasn’t caught it as cleanly as he’d have liked is open for debate but I do think Obita deserves credit in having the belief in his ability to make a pass like that too .

Do what for? Play for free? Oh, wait.

Rangers pay him a wage, he's got affinity to them, big deal.

He pays money into Hibernian every season, played for us for free, got us over £2m in transfer fees when "proper hibbys" Riordan and Murray walked for nowt and is part of our Scottish Cup Winning history.

Some on here strangely like "Lenny" or "Broony" and rip one of our own.

He definitely doesn't, you can see the moment of shock when he sees that the left back hasn't followed him over and realises he's in trouble. Very funny.

I'd genuinely have more respect for Thomson if he dropped the act a bit. He's been circling the Hun drain for years and clearly sees it as his potential gravy train post playing days, which is fair enough. The problem he's not as loved there as he wishes he was.

Defensively they looked so poor and attacking wise I think Smith really only had one save to make . I’m hoping they beat Aberdeen on Sunday but if they take another beating on Thursday and play like they did against us up at Pittodrie there’s every chance Aberdeen could beat them which makes it even more important we win our game .

Rod Petrie clarified the “played for free” line as not exactly being accurate.
Petrie said that whilst a weekly salary wasn’t paid, Thomson was remunerated with a one off payment to recompense him at the end of that spell with us.

I don’t think you’d be allowed to play for free anyway, surely FIFA/Uefa wouldn’t allow it.

If Thomson was self employed at the time his income may have taken him into a new tax band in a financial year so it is sometimes more beneficial financially to wait until the next financial year for a payment to be made as you are aware that your income will be less next year. PAYE the same as well.

Still deserves credit and the end result being a ball behind the defence for our forwards to chase came off but that’s absolutely not the pass he was ever trying to play :agree:

I don't know why everyone's saying this - he clearly hits it with the outside of his boot which is not usually how you kick a ball to get elevation on it. He looks up and sees a big gap between the defenders and plays the ball through it with a bit of spin to swerve it to the right and into Boyle's path. Perfect pass from what I could see.

Obita’s on his weak foot and is facing the centre of the pitch. There is no way, using his right foot, that he’s used the outside of his boot there from a standing position. Personally I think he meant to play it high over the defence for Boyle but it ended up a bit of a shank. A lovely shank.

I’m not sure why people are getting their knickers in a twist about this? It ended up a goal from a great through ball whether it was meant exactly as it ended up doesn’t matter.

If that pass was made by one of the darlings of the media like Mcgregor at Celtic it would be praised for its accuracy and vision. If it was a sclaff it's a world class sclaff it ended up with a goal scored so who cares what it was and what Identity Man says.

I understand the hate for Thomson still from some, I'm sure most professional players while playing throw supporting clubs out the window while playing and if he never played for the Huns I'm sure he wouldn't speak so open about them.

Think he does get a rough ride from some Hibs fans still, bringing his kids up to be Hibees.

I'm sure a real Hibee wouldn't thump and kiss a Celtic badge either 😉
