View Full Version : What do we want tomorrow?

Hearts lose and may miss top 6 or Hearts win and make top 6 but we go 6 points ahead of United?

Difficult one, id have rather we didn’t have to go to the pink postage stamp again but if united lose then it should be a 2 horse race between us and Aberdeen for 3rd.

What do we reckon?

Draw.

Don't care about what happens with hearts, beyond it being best for us.

A draw for them takes them out the running and makes it difficult for dundee utd.

Good point on the draw. Further review of the table makes my OP a bit irrelevant - draw keeps United 5 points behind and means hearts could still bottle top 6 on last day before the split.

A draw it is!

Noticed that too - it's incredibly tight, whoever finishes 7th/8th is going to be in a relegation (playoff) battle instead of a European battle.

With this season being the last that 3rd place gets guaranteed European group stage football, that takes precedence over potentially beating them twice at Tynecastle for me, obviously in the perfect world we do both, but I think them being in the top six makes our job harder, plus there's a guaranteed £700k extra for clubs finishing in the top six, and I'd prefer them to get as little as possible.

They may only need a draw v Motherwell but whether they make too 6 or not, us pulling away from Utd would be welcome.

I’d never actively support Hearts to win a game but if they do I don’t think it’s terrible for us. We don’t really need to care too much about them tbh as we’re miles ahead.

My default position is I don't even want Hearts to win the toss up ... never mind a game.

Putting that aside we can take a positive from any result in this one.

Hearts win ........... Still leaves them 8 points behind us and keeps Utd at arms length for 3rd. But guarantees Hearts top 6

Draw ........ Gives Hearts absolutely no chance of catching Hibs and keeps Utd 5 points behind with a minus 10 GD to us. It also leaves Hearts in the squeaky bummed position of needing to avoid defeat at Fir Park to make the top 6 if St Mirren beat Ross County.

Dundee Utd win ...... Puts them 3 points behind us ... but still leaves Hearts needing to win at Fir Park to guarantee top 6.

Without doubt a draw is the optimum result here for Hibs ..... keeps us in a healthy position and still keeps alive the possibility that Hearts wont make the top 6.
The fact is that if Hearts make the top 6 knowing they can't make 3rd they'll chuck everything at the SC semi final and beating us at Tynecastle .... the other games they won't give a rats arse about, especially if they win their semi. Being ready for the final and trying to ensure Hibs don't get group stage Euro football will be their whole reason for being ..... for those reasons I would rather they stayed out of the top 6.

As it is I think Hearts are going to win this game. The good news is I've been wrong before :greengrin

Agreed. An undiagnosed fault line running under Tynecastle and causing the entire stadium to collapse in on itself would also be good. Subsequent excavation of the rubble would reveal that shoddy workmanship on the new main stand had caused the fault line to open up thus rendering any insurance claim null and void.

Hibs finishing as high as possible is in our own hands. We just need to keep winning games of football.

Hearts finishing top six is better for them financially. It is better for them professionally, reputationally.

What self respecting Hibby wants to see that when we can take care of business ourselves?

I want Hearts bottom six. I want an unbeaten season against them. I want them sucked into the playoff spot. I want them relegated. I want them to go bust in the Championship and slip into obscurity never to be seen again. **** Hearts.

Way too good for them

They’ve got a semi against Aberdeen. That’s one of my 6 fantasy losses. [emoji3]

My apologies

Hibs finishing as high as possible is in our own hands. We just need to keep winning games of football.

Hearts finishing too six is better for them financially. It is better for them professionally, reputationally.

Who said they wanted to see that? I’ll be a lot more pissed off if we miss out on 3rd to Dun Utd than I will be if we finish 3rd and Hearts get a bit more cash for finishing 6th instead of 7th. I’d much rather our job was made as easy as possible.

Happy that Utd won.

All we’ve got to do is beat them and Aberdeen and we’ll prob be 3rd.

Hopefully Motherwell and St Mirren do the biz at the weekend and pip Hearts to the top 6.

It's unfortunate for you then that hearts are *****. Looks like we'll have to do it ourselves. Which is more or less my point. Win our games and to hell with hearts.

It's a win-win. If they get top 6 I can't see us losing at Tiny so :lolyam: Bottom 6 is :lolyam:
